William Green had lived an ordinary life for over twenty years, but his world was turned upside down by a sudden "awakening"—he awakened as a legendary demon who survives on the power of wishes.
The bad news is, it's almost impossible to find wish power in this world.
The good news is, just before starving to death, he opened a portal to another world, one rich in wish power.
The bad news is, most of the wish power already has owners.
The good news is, no one understands wish-making better than he does.
At first, William Green only responded to wishes in order to survive, but as he grew stronger, he turned it into an industry.
And the place where countless wishes can come true is the 【Paradise】.
Chapter 1 Paradise Game
Atlantic Ocean, Heart of the Ocean cruise ship. In a luxurious suite on the top deck, four travelers sat around a long table, sizing each other up.
Only VIP guests could book rooms on the upper decks, so these people were all either wealthy or powerful. But the reason they were gathered here wasn't for business negotiations, but for a game.
A game said to be so stimulating that it would exhaust the imagination of even the sharpest minds.
"Since we're all just sitting here, why don't we introduce ourselves first?" A middle-aged man was the first to speak in English. "Hey, you all understand what I'm saying, right? My name is Joe James, I'm American. What about you?"
No one responded.
The atmosphere became a bit awkward.
"Alright, alright, how about French? No? Chinese? I can speak a little Russian too." He switched through several languages in quick succession.
"Enough, this isn't some talk show." Someone finally interrupted his chatter. "We're all here for fun, so what does it matter if we don't know each other?"
"Just trying to make some friends." James raised his champagne glass toward the other. "Besides, no one knows what this game will be like. If we end up needing teamwork, getting acquainted now will save time, right?"
The man raised his eyebrows, as if convinced. "…Anthony Smith. If you ever have the chance, you're welcome to come hunting in Siberia." He looked to be nearly fifty, the most imposing of the group. At least nine of his ten fingers were adorned with rings—some set with gems, others carved from bone—all quite eye-catching.
Oddly, he looked Slavic and had a Russian-sounding name, but spoke fluent Chinese.
"If it's just hunting, I prefer South Africa." James's gaze shifted to the group's only woman. "And you, miss? How should we address you?"
"Ethan Clark." The woman spoke, then gestured to the burly man behind her. "This is my guardian. No need for introductions."
"You even bring an attendant when you're out for fun?" Mark Smith fiddled with his rings, hinting at something. "I just hope I won't be watched by outsiders while I'm enjoying myself."
"He'll leave once the host arrives."
"But, miss—"
"You needn't say more." Ethan cut him off in Japanese.
The big man fell silent.
"My name is David Carter..." The last, a young man, lifted his chin slightly as everyone's eyes turned to him. "Boarded the ship at Berlin Port, but my hometown is—"
"That's enough, no need to be so detailed." James waved to cut him off. "When we meet the host, I have a suggestion: there should be an age limit for participants. The really young ones shouldn't get involved, or the rest of their lives will seem dull by comparison."
This drew quiet laughter from the others.
David Carter's face darkened.
"Does Mr. James mean me as well?" Ethan Clark asked calmly. "After all, judging by appearances, I'm about the same age as him."
The two of them were clearly the youngest among the travelers, both just over twenty.
"Of course not, restrictions never apply to beautiful ladies. That's a universal truth." James quickly tried to smooth things over.
"I can afford the ticket." David Carter emphasized each word.
"Right, right, we all know that," the American winked, "for example, we all know who really paid."
David Carter shot to his feet.
"Forget it, the organizers don't care, money is money no matter who it comes from." Mark Smith gestured to change the subject. "What I'm curious about is how this game is actually played. This isn't my first time on a Caribbean Company cruise, but I've never heard of them promoting anything like this before."
This seemed to echo everyone's thoughts.
The Heart of the Ocean was one of the world's top luxury cruise ships, with every entertainment facility imaginable, from casinos to nightclubs. But for people like them, who had experienced all the pleasures inaccessible to ordinary folks countless times, there was nothing novel left. That's why, when the organizers sent out invitations to a brand-new game, they didn't hesitate to sign up—even though the entry fee alone was a million dollars.
