Chapter 5

Old Miller broke out in a cold sweat, realizing that William Lynn had already seen through him. However, he couldn’t gauge William Lynn’s cultivation level at all, which made him feel waves of fear. His intuition told him that William Lynn’s cultivation was far superior to his own—could he be a great cultivator at the Foundation Establishment stage, or even the Golden Core stage?

Cultivators can usually conceal their aura, but even the slightest fluctuation can be detected by those at the same or higher level. However, William Lynn was an exception.

Perhaps this was a hidden benefit of the system. According to the system’s explanation, as long as William Lynn didn’t make a move himself, he would appear no different from an ordinary person to others—even cultivators with higher cultivation couldn’t see through him.

This was extremely advantageous for William Lynn to show off.

Once out of sight of Little Ben and Old Miller, William Lynn immediately used Stealth Technique and secretly slipped back into Stone Village.

Even the cheapest minor spells in the exchange system cost a hundred exchange points. After careful consideration, William Lynn didn’t choose an offensive or defensive spell, but instead exchanged for the Stealth Technique.

It could hide his figure, and as long as he didn’t do anything else, he wouldn’t become visible. In William Lynn’s view, if used properly, this spell was highly practical.

Old Miller’s reaction was a bit odd, which made William Lynn suspicious.

William Lynn silently infiltrated Stone Village. The environment was much like Wolf Village, except that while Wolf Village was shrouded in gloom, Stone Village was filled with joy and celebration.

The open space in the center of the village was piled high with all kinds of fierce beast corpses, and the villagers, from the elderly to the children, were all beaming with happiness.

William Lynn found the stone house where the village chief’s family lived. As soon as he entered the courtyard, he saw Little Ben holding a small porcelain bowl, drinking milk with a little wooden spoon.

At the gate, a child shouted, “Wow, Little Ben, you’re drinking milk again! You’re already three and a half years old!”

“Yiya!” Little Ben was terribly embarrassed, hugging the little bowl and using his tender white hands to block the older kids from seeing, his little face flushed, long eyelashes trembling, and he weakly protested, “You’re mistaken, I… I’m actually… drinking water.”

“Haha…” A group of children burst out laughing.

William Lynn was also amused by this adorable little one and smiled slightly. Ignoring the laughing children, he walked straight across the courtyard to the side of the stone house. His ears twitched, and he heard Old Miller inside the house say, “Three years have passed in the blink of an eye, and Little Ben is already three and a half.”

An old woman’s voice sounded from inside, probably the village chief’s wife: “You had Little Ben refuse that Daoist priest—will that cause trouble? Do you think Little Ben could really be the reincarnation of that Daoist’s disciple?”

Old Miller pondered and said, “I originally thought that Daoist was someone from the Shi family helping David Stone, or someone from David Stone’s maternal grandfather’s Yu family, coming to find Little Ben to wipe out the roots. But now it doesn’t seem that way. As for the reincarnation theory…”

Old Miller hesitated for a moment. “You know as well as I do, Little Ben was born extraordinary—a natural Foundation Establishment! And it’s even the legendary, peerless Supreme Dao Foundation. If you say he’s the reincarnation of a great cultivator, it actually makes sense.”

The village chief’s wife sighed, “It’s a pity his Supreme Dao Foundation was taken by David Stone. They’re brothers of the same clan—how could he be so heartless? Little Ben was not even half a year old then, such a pitiful child.”

Old Miller said seriously, “In any case, I promised his father I would take good care of Little Ben. That Daoist’s background is ultimately unclear, so it’s best to be cautious. Only the two of us can know about Little Ben’s origins—if word gets out, Little Ben will be in danger.”

Outside, William Lynn listened with great interest. Little Ben was almost certainly a chosen one, a true child of destiny.

As for David Stone, who stole his Dao Foundation, he was clearly the arch-nemesis villain type.

No wonder this kid’s innate talent stat was a perfect 10—born at the Foundation Establishment stage, and with the top-tier Supreme Dao Foundation. If that’s not maxed out talent, then no one is.

But his Dao Foundation had already been taken—so why was his innate talent stat still 10?

Could it be that his Dao Foundation could regenerate? Or maybe, after he cultivates Daoist arts and advances to the Foundation Establishment stage, he can still form the Supreme Dao Foundation?

As William Lynn pondered, he quietly withdrew from Stone Village and made his way to a mountain path not far from the village entrance.

He took nine dazzling purple crystals from his pocket and arranged them on the mountain path in a specific pattern. William Lynn sighed—being the “grandpa” wasn’t as easy as it seemed.

From the newbie gift pack, he’d gotten 300 exchange points. William Lynn spent 50 points on an outfit, 100 points on the Stealth Technique, and invested the remaining 150 points in these purple crystals.

Looking toward Wolf Village, William Lynn touched his nose. “If Wolf Village wants to attack Stone Village, this should be the only way through.”

With preparations complete, William Lynn began to consider his next move. Just as he was thinking, a sudden, thunderous explosion erupted deep in the mountains, like a bolt of lightning striking the ground.

A beam of purple light shot up from the depths of the forest—it was clearly an extraordinary treasure. Remembering the Wolf Villagers mentioning the birth of a mountain treasure, William Lynn was stunned. “Is this prepared for that Little Ben? With a luck stat of 8, even if it’s not maxed out, it’s still nothing to scoff at.”

His eyes lit up, and a warm, sunny smile appeared on William Lynn’s face as he sped toward the place where the mountain treasure had appeared.
