Chapter 16

After getting out of the car, the old man planned to take the two kids to register.

The registration process was quite simple. Samuel Wright brought Stephen Clark and the others to the hall and had the two of them go directly to the counter to submit their identification information.

It was obvious that after a whole day of registrations, the staff looked quite exhausted.

“Susan Wright, age ten, recommender: the Joy family. Alright, registration complete.” Slightly surprised, the staff handed the illustrated handbook back to Little Susan, looking a bit more energized.

Ten years old, and from the Joy family—seems like they’ve encountered an extraordinary genius.

Next, Stephen Clark also handed over his identification, but Stephen Clark was not qualified to receive the illustrated handbook, so he could only give the most basic proof of identity.

“Name, Stephen Clark, age, ten, no recommender?”

“Child, are you serious?”

The staff member in charge of registration, working on the computer, felt a sense of unreality after seeing the information.

What was going on today? The previous one was ten years old as well, but at least she was from the Joy family, a regular here. Although a genius, she was still acceptable.

But this child, with only the most basic proof of identity, no recommender, and just ten years old—in an era where it’s extremely rare for a ten-year-old to pass the junior breeder exam—this staff member almost thought Stephen Clark was just messing around.

However, her professionalism made her dismiss that thought.

“If you don’t have a recommender or an illustrated handbook, you’ll need to pay a fee of 1,000 yuan.”

Next, the staff member delivered a piece of news that left Stephen Clark utterly stunned.

“You have to pay a fee to take the exam?!”

Stephen Clark really didn’t know this. As far as he knew, there didn’t seem to be such a rule. However, the recommender option was indeed something he’d never heard of, which made Stephen Clark somewhat believe it.

“I remember the book ‘About the Breeder Assessment’ didn’t mention any required fees for the breeder exam, did it?” Stephen Clark voiced his doubt. Even though he knew it was unlikely the staff would lie, he really didn’t have 1,000 yuan left. If he couldn’t take the breeder exam, then there was nothing more to discuss.

“Hmm?” The staff member was a bit surprised, but still patiently explained, “Maybe you read an old edition. I remember there’s a notice about registration posted in the hall. You can go take a look.”

Hearing this, Stephen Clark was finally convinced. There was no reason for the staff to lie.

“Is there any way to make an exception?” At this moment, Susan Wright spoke up from behind Stephen Clark.

“You two know each other?” Seeing Susan Wright’s action, the staff was a bit surprised, not expecting these two kids to be together.

“Yeah, I believe he has the ability to become a junior breeder.” Nodding, Little Susan said.

Hearing Susan Wright say this, the staff was a bit surprised, but still replied, “But rules are rules. If I break them, I’ll be fined—”

“But, considering how young you both are, I’ll help you out this time and register you.” The staff member had a change of heart. She certainly didn’t dare to violate the breeder headquarters’ rules, but if she personally paid the 1,000 yuan for Stephen Clark’s registration, then there would be no problem.

As for whether it was worth it—if Stephen Clark really had the ability to become a breeder at age ten, what could be more attractive to her? For her, this was an investment, a favor!

A young breeder with great potential was worth her doing this.

“Thank you so much.” Little Susan breathed a sigh of relief, having also noticed Stephen Clark’s predicament.

The outcome couldn’t have been better.

“Thank you.” Stephen Clark also thanked Little Susan.

At his age, there was no need to feel embarrassed. If he could take the exam for free, why make things difficult for himself?

Just as the staff was about to proceed with the registration, Master Samuel Wright walked over from a distance. He had noticed that Stephen Clark’s registration was taking a long time, which caught his attention.

“No need to trouble yourself. For his recommender, just put me down.” As soon as he arrived, the old man understood the situation and handed a card to the staff.

Even before seeing him, just hearing those words made the staff member slightly startled. Those qualified to be recommenders, aside from some high-level families at breeder headquarters, were at least intermediate breeders or above. So, this child wasn’t without connections after all.

Of course, otherwise, how could a ten-year-old have the confidence to take the junior breeder exam and even know the Joys?

“You… you’re Master Samuel Wright!”

The staff member, who had only been slightly surprised before, immediately cried out after inserting the card into the slot and seeing the information displayed on the computer.

The photo, name, identity, and achievements shown on the screen left her utterly shocked.

Honorary Vice President of the Breeder Association, top-level breeder, genetics master, Vice Dean of Tianguan Academy, and so on, plus all the honors Master Samuel Wright had earned in his youth at various competitions—this all made the staff member extremely excited.

“Hello, Master Samuel Wright.” The staff member immediately stood up and bowed to Samuel Wright to show her respect.
