Chapter 19

"Alright." William Carter didn't understand what had just happened, but he could tell that Michael Bolton had helped him out of a tight spot, and after four hours, he was truly tired of staying inside the mech.

With a flash of white light, the mech on William Carter disappeared. Almost simultaneously, Dr. Harris and Schneider also took off their mechs.

"Young man, you really are a genius." Michael Bolton strode over to him, extended his hand, and said, "Let me introduce myself again, Michael Bolton, Security Manager of the Karim Branch of Comet Group."

"Comet?" William Carter was taken aback.

"Yes." Michael Bolton beamed, pretending to ask casually, "What, you know it?"

He naturally understood why William Carter was surprised, because according to that investigation report, both of William Carter's parents worked at Comet Group.

"Oh, yes, sir." William Carter smiled as expected. "My parents also work at the same company as you."

"Really?" Michael Bolton said with delight, "What a coincidence!"

Although Comet Group was only a second-tier large corporation in the Federation, it still had strong economic power in the three nearby star systems. The Karim Branch was also a super-large enterprise with tens of thousands of employees, spread across more than fifty major cities on the planet.

Of course, Michael Bolton couldn't possibly know everyone, but at this moment, he had already made up his mind to get along well with William Carter's parents.

"Alright, Zhang, don't try to get chummy. Let me tell you, he's my student." Harris finally snapped out of his shock, and seeing what Michael Bolton was up to, immediately understood his intentions.

"Oh, Harris, we've been good friends for years, haven't we?"

"Yes, but that has nothing to do with this." Harris turned to William Carter and said, "It was my mistake not to see your potential and ability. Now, I apologize to you."

William Carter was taken aback and quickly said, "Doctor, please don't joke with me."

"I'm not joking. Alright, listen to me. I'm the head coach of the Mech Enthusiasts Association at Karim Public College. I now invite you to join our association."

"But…"

"No buts. You're my student, right?"

"Right."

"Excellent. If you join the Mech Enthusiasts Association, I guarantee you'll get full marks in all your subjects."

"All subjects?" William Carter could hardly believe his ears.

"Yes, all subjects. I guarantee it," Harris promised solemnly.

"Oh, but Doctor, I didn't get that treatment when I joined!" Schneider complained.

"Shut up." Harris glared fiercely at the young man, who immediately fell silent.

Looking at Schneider's expression, William Carter was convinced that Harris was telling the truth. The thought of never having to be burdened by tedious studies again made him instantly tempted.

Michael Bolton smiled slightly and said, "Harris, congratulations on having such an excellent student."

"Yes, I believe he will definitely become the best ace pilot," Harris said, looking at William Carter as if he were gazing at a dazzling gem, his eyes shining.

"Well then, I want to ask, Harris, does your association need sponsorship?"

"Sponsorship? Of course we… oh, no, I think we'll soon be able to secure a very large sponsorship." Harris's mind started working quickly. "Let me think, for example, the Laimei Group, the Huayi Alliance, or…"

"Enough." Michael Bolton interrupted him. "Harris, you're his doctor, but his parents work for us at Comet."

"They'll find better jobs."

"No, I guarantee there's no place more suitable for them than Comet," Michael Bolton said firmly. "Or, perhaps, we don't need to make things too difficult for this young man."

Chapter 15: Dream

After thinking for a moment, Harris finally said, "Alright, what are your terms?"

"He can join your association, but at the same time, he must join our company."

"You forget, federal law stipulates that child labor under the age of twenty cannot be employed."

William Carter frowned and couldn't help but say, "Dr. Harris, federal law stipulates that minors under the age of twenty… minors cannot be employed."

Harris was taken aback, then laughed, "Alright, not child labor."

Michael Bolton sighed. Of course, he knew Dr. Harris was telling the truth. There really was such a damn rule in the Grand Federation. But he quickly said, "We can sign a letter of intent."

"That's useless. A letter of intent is not the same as a contract," Harris said seriously, clearly not joking. "You should know there are many groups stronger than Comet. As soon as today's events get out, people will come to contact him. I don't think you can offer him the best terms."

Michael Bolton's thick brows furrowed tightly, and at last he sighed, "We can discuss this privately."
