“The host now meets the requirements of the Villain System. The system is officially activated and is now merging: 10%, 30%, 70%, 100%. Merge successful.”
Edward Sutton’s consciousness entered a world of blinding white, surrounded by a misty whiteness, with only a large screen standing upright in front of him, but the screen itself was pitch black.
“Host 01, Edward Sutton, hello. Welcome to the Villain System.” A voice, robotic and utterly devoid of emotion, sounded.
“Host 01? So I’m the first person to use the Villain System? Why did you choose me?” Edward Sutton frowned as he surveyed his surroundings, a familiar feeling welling up inside him.
In his previous life, when reading novels, the word “system” was no stranger to him.
The system replied in its emotionless voice: “There are two systems within the host. Only after meeting the requirements of one can it be activated.”
“What’s the other system?” Edward Sutton asked curiously.
“The Hero System.”
Edward Sutton: “……”
“So just swearing to be a bad guy qualifies me for the Villain System?”
Edward Sutton gave a wry smile. “Fine, a villain it is. Good people don’t live long, but troublemakers last a thousand years. I was a hero in my last life, but it didn’t end well either.”
“So what’s the use of this Villain System?” Edward Sutton asked.
The large screen in front of Edward Sutton suddenly lit up, displaying a prize wheel with six options: Martial Arts, One-time Consumables, Elixirs, Weapons, Miscellaneous, and Empty.
“What do all these mean?”
The system explained: “The Villain System contains everything possessed by villain characters in all martial arts worlds.
If you draw Martial Arts, a random villain character will appear, each carrying one or more martial arts techniques or skills. The host can randomly select one to practice, starting with a default proficiency of 5%, which can be increased through training.
The One-time Consumables draw works the same way, but these techniques don’t require deliberate practice by the host, start at 100% proficiency, but can only be used once.
Elixirs can be drawn from the Elixir category, Weapons from the Weapons category, Miscellaneous covers random items from martial arts worlds, and Empty means you get nothing.
Also, please note: all items in the Villain System are ranked by stars, from half a star to five stars, with ten levels in total. The basic draw can only get items rated two and a half stars or below.”
“There are levels to the draws?”
The system said: “There are three levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Basic draws can only get items rated two and a half stars or below, and the system gives the host one basic draw per day.
Intermediate draws can get any item below four stars, and you can remove one type you don’t like. The host can exchange 10 basic draws for one intermediate draw.
Advanced draws can get any item above three stars, and you can specify a type to draw from. The host can exchange 10 intermediate draws for one advanced draw.”
“It takes that long to accumulate for an advanced draw?” Edward Sutton frowned.
This Villain System was easy to understand; Edward Sutton grasped the key points almost immediately.
The basic draw is pure luck, with six options and a decent chance of landing on Empty.
The intermediate draw has a higher upper limit, but no lower limit, meaning you could still get a half-star item even with an intermediate draw.
Only the advanced draw is reliable, with a minimum quality and the ability to choose a category.
The system replied: “The host can also accumulate Villain Points through tasks. 10 Villain Points can be used for a basic draw, 100 for an intermediate draw, and 1000 for an advanced draw. Villain Points can also be used to buy things in the exchange shop.”
“Where is this exchange shop?”
“You cannot access the exchange shop until you complete a designated task.”
Edward Sutton asked, “So what are these tasks?”
“Tasks are generated randomly by the system, with no specific objectives.”
Edward Sutton immediately had a bad feeling. “You mean?”
The system said, “It means the tasks depend on the system’s mood.”
Edward Sutton was speechless. This was way too damn capricious!
The system said, “Since this is the host’s first fusion, the system will give the host an extra intermediate draw. The host now has one basic draw and one intermediate draw. Would the host like to draw now?”
“Draw, of course! Give me the intermediate draw first, and remove the Empty option.”
The prize wheel on the big screen began spinning rapidly. Under Edward Sutton’s expectant gaze, it finally landed on Martial Arts.
A tall young man with three knife scars on his face appeared on the screen, holding a sword in his left hand. His ashen eyes sent chills down one’s spine.
“Congratulations, host, you have drawn the character Harold Jennings, who comes with the martial art ‘Jing Wuming’s Swift Sword’. No further draw is needed. Martial art rating: two and a half stars.”
“Why is Harold Jennings’s rating so low?” Edward Sutton asked.
