Chapter 13

“Coroner, take a look.” William Carter faced the murderous blade with calm composure, not even blinking an eye.

Alice Foster, upon hearing this, took out a piece of white cloth, then fetched silver needles, silver tweezers, and other instruments from his box. After squatting down to examine the body, his face soon flushed bright red.

“How could you be so careless?” Head Constable Brooks immediately understood, glared at him fiercely, and naturally, William Carter had hit the mark.

Charles Thompson and Eric Harris weren’t fools; they understood at once. Their faces showed a hint of embarrassment, and the Qingyue blade was quietly sheathed behind their backs—holding it any longer would just be slapping themselves in the face.

“Were the conditions of the other female corpses the same before?” William Carter asked.

“Sigh... I’ve had a persistent high fever lately, my old eyes are dim, I have failed in my duties. Please punish me, Head Constable Brooks.” Alice Foster sighed, his face as red as a monkey’s bottom as he cupped his hands in apology.

It seemed that the previous corpses hadn’t been examined internally either, probably all misled by the terrible external conditions.

“In that case, the pervert must be trying to extract something from inside these murdered women.” William Carter said, his brow furrowing as he activated the ‘Great Causal Eye’ and looked down, discovering a faint red dotted line inside the woman’s lower body.

There really was something unusual!

Previously, when he saw the pervert, a similar red line had appeared on him, and William Carter even caught a whiff of a familiar scent.

If the woman died because of the pervert, then the pervert planted the ‘cause’ in her, and the ‘result’ should ‘manifest’ on the pervert’s side.

He also discovered that the red line inside the woman’s body actually extended outward.

So, he leapt onto the wall and looked in that direction—it seemed to point toward the nearby City God Temple.

Could it be that the place the red line inside the woman pointed to was the pervert’s hiding place, or perhaps the location of the ‘result’ of the incident?

If this could be proven, future investigations would be much easier.

Directly using the causal line to track the other party—perhaps even the King of Catchers, Scott White, didn’t have such a special ability?

And this bold hypothesis was even more vividly confirmed with the second woman, Lily Scott.

Lily Scott had been violated even more brutally, with a large radish shoved inside her, blood staining the entire bed.

This time, coroner Alice Foster didn’t let his old eyes fail him, and thoroughly dissected the body, not even sparing the stomach.

“There is residual fluid left by the pervert inside the woman’s lower body—a typical case of rape followed by murder. Also, it seems that because Lily Scott struggled, the madman was displeased, so, to vent his anger, he used a radish as a means of revenge...”

“I’ll add something: that radish was also infused with a considerable amount of internal energy.

As a result, the woman was injured beyond recognition—utterly inhumane, a beast.” Charles Thompson jumped in again, trying to make his presence felt.

This guy always wanted to steal the spotlight wherever he went—what a problem.

“Master Sun, are you saying Lily Scott was about to get married?” William Carter suddenly turned to ask Brian Scott, who was standing nearby, gritting his teeth in anger. This man was a local squire, a well-known figure in Tangjia Alley, a nouveau riche.

“She wasn’t getting married—my wife didn’t bear a son, so we were taking in a son-in-law. The date was already set, just seven days from now. Who would have thought... that beast, that beast...” Brian Scott broke down in tears, his eyes blazing with fury.

“If I can catch that beast, I’ll be the first to cut off his root and feed it to the dogs. Beast! Beast!” A young man with a face full of pockmarks beside him clenched his fists, lost control of his emotions, and began shouting and yelling.

“Calm down, I’ll cut it off for you.” William Carter patted the pockmarked man on the shoulder, then turned to ask Kevin Scott, “Who is this relative of yours?”

“My adopted son, Matthew Hill. If it weren’t for him, our Sun family wouldn’t have been able to establish ourselves in Tangjia Alley.” Brian Scott said. In Tangjia Alley, most people had the surname Tang, and the sense of clan was very strong.

The Sun family just had a bit of money, but were nothing more than nouveau riche.

And they were outsiders—how could they compare to the many members of the Tang clan?

Naturally, taking in a more powerful adopted son with the surname Tang had its advantages.

“Head Constable Brooks, and Young Master Carter, after you catch the murderer, you must let me personally cut it off. Otherwise, if I, Matthew Hill, can’t even protect my adopted sister, what’s the point of living?” Matthew Hill said indignantly, his eyes bloodshot, murderous intent surging.

“Alright!”

William Carter nodded, and in a flash, a cold light swept by. There was only a miserable scream from Matthew Hill, and blood gushed from his lower body.

That ‘thing’ had already been sliced off by William Carter in one swift motion and was now hanging, bloody, from the tip of his blade.

This move was fast, precise, and ruthless, and with the element of surprise, even though Matthew Hill had the strength of the second level of Tianmen, by the time he reacted, William Carter had already made him a eunuch.

Matthew Hill was naturally unwilling, roaring, his eyes fierce as he kicked out viciously.

But William Carter was even faster, immediately delivering a fierce kick to Matthew Hill’s crotch.

That area was already severely injured, and with another kick, the pain pierced to the bone. Matthew Hill let out another pig-like scream and collapsed to the ground.

“What are you doing?” Brian Scott, along with Charles Thompson and Eric Harris, all shouted.
