Chapter 15

Is it trash? William Clark suddenly smiled calmly. Yeah, I’ve always been a complete villain and a pervert. I’m just a bit surprised at how famous I’ve become already, even though I’m still in the warm-up phase and haven’t even started my plan yet. Looks like I’ll have to be ready to bear the burden of infamy from now on.

Chapter 8: Beauty Worth Feasting On

If there were no darkness, then light would lose its splendid disguise; if there were no bad people, what meaning would good people have? My existence is simply to let good people live with a clearer conscience.

——William Clark’s quote——

Having figured things out, William Clark looked completely at ease and said casually, “I wouldn’t even bother with trash like Victor Grant. If people don’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them! But if they do, I’ll pay them back double!” Although, I’m also what you people call trash, William Clark thought to himself.

The girl saw the smile gradually appearing on William Clark’s face, and her pure cheeks actually flushed, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. She stammered a bit, “Thank you so much for today. How should I thank you?”

Offer yourself to me, William Clark almost blurted out, but immediately put on a righteous expression and said, “It’s every citizen’s duty in the martial world to draw their sword and help when they see injustice. After all, not acting bravely when seeing what’s right might even be illegal in the future. Besides, not every coward gets the chance to help a damsel in distress! If you really want to thank me, just tell me your lovely name, and while you’re at it, your home address, phone number, birthday…” He almost blurted out her measurements too—close call!

The girl was both amused and exasperated by William Clark’s rambling, but her previously gloomy mood brightened again. With a hint of a smile, she said, “My name is Sarah Shaw, I’m a second-year high school student, your upperclassman!”

“What were you doing there at that time?” William Clark asked with a hint of scheming, his concerned expression hiding calculation and cunning. The cold indifference deep in his eyes was a stark contrast to his demeanor. Being saved by me is like escaping the wolf’s den only to fall into the tiger’s lair—just wait to be devoured by me.

Do you know why I don’t care about Victor Grant? Because he, Victor Grant, is a bad guy, but I, William Clark, am an even worse one. Compared to me, he’s nothing but a small-time crook!

Actually, the main reason William Clark helped her was because Victor Grant had once boasted he’d win over William Clark’s “forbidden fruit” Ethan Murray within a week. This made William Clark furious, so he took this opportunity to settle things with Victor Grant once and for all. Heh, Victor Grant, you’ve had your time in the spotlight—now watch how I play you to death!

“Upperclassman!” William Clark suddenly picked up Sarah Shaw from behind, nearly making her scream. Even though she was dating, she’d never even held hands before, let alone had such close contact with a boy. For a moment, she was both embarrassed and angry, not knowing what to do or what this underclassman was up to. But what puzzled her even more was that she didn’t actually dislike this obvious crossing of boundaries.

“You twisted your ankle, I’ll take you to the infirmary. Walking will only make it worse. I really don’t know how you managed to run so fast earlier!” William Clark said with a touch of false concern. But who could see through that pretense? After all, William Clark was a master actor!

This domineering gentleness from William Clark stirred up strange feelings in Sarah Shaw’s heart—a warm, cozy, and slightly sweet sensation. Dating Samuel Lewis was just a result of girlish curiosity, a way to satisfy the vanity of competing with other girls.

At the infirmary, a pretty nurse helped Sarah Shaw with her injury, while William Clark hovered nearby, attentive like a boyfriend. The nurse couldn’t help but think they really were a couple. The girl was fresh and lovely, the boy handsome and devilishly charming, but with a woman’s sixth sense, she felt the boy was actually a few years younger than the girl. It was a bit intriguing—was this a sister-brother romance?

Sarah Shaw took out her cute pink phone and called a classmate. William Clark knew his role as the knight was coming to an end, so when Sarah Shaw asked his name, he deliberately didn’t answer, leaving only a mysterious, “secret must not be revealed” smile as he walked away.

I left quietly, just as I had come quietly, waving my sleeve, not taking away a single cloud.

But I did take a piece of someone’s heart.

This is what they call casting a long line to catch a big fish.

After a good nap on the grass, it was just about lunchtime. William Clark sighed and headed to the school cafeteria. Mingzhu Academy had three cafeterias: one for middle school, one for high school, and one for teachers. The food was as luxurious as a three-star hotel, but William Clark just couldn’t get interested, because compared to the dishes made by Ethan Murray, the cafeteria food was just garbage. If it weren’t for the chance to check out pretty girls, he would have snuck out long ago.

The middle school cafeteria had five floors. William Clark liked to go to the top floor—not only was the food the least bad, the girls the prettiest, and spending money the easiest, but also because there was a female server there who really interested him. She was a high school student with a voluptuous, alluring figure that sparked endless fantasies, but in stark contrast, her icy face made people keep their distance. William Clark just wanted to tear off that proud mask of hers.
