Chapter 6

After a short while, each of the chatting students was holding a box of white goat milk, sipping it slowly. George Miller, with no other choice, had to pretend to focus on studying, lowering his head to read and take notes. With the recent increase in training intensity, the living expenses from home had long been insufficient. Now, just smelling the aroma of hot milk made his stomach start growling again. Fortunately, the surrounding chatter was loud enough that no one heard it.

He shook his head speechlessly and gave his head a little shake. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the girl Alice Bennett on his right.

She just happened to be doing the same thing as him, pretending to study with her head down, but her small belly was unconsciously pulled in, trying to prevent any stomach noises from escaping.

Alice Bennett seemed to notice his gaze as well and looked over. Their eyes met, both of them blushing, as if they understood that the other was in the same predicament. A sense of mutual understanding instantly arose between them.

After drinking the goat milk, George Miller joined a group of boys, chatting and laughing as they headed downstairs toward the central cafeteria.

The cafeteria was located at the very center of the entire academy, surrounded by countless student dormitories. It was a black cube-shaped building with entrances and exits on all four sides. Large numbers of students were coming and going, and as soon as you stepped outside, you could smell the sweet aroma of bread and cake, along with the noisy clamor of students.

Together with the boys, George Miller ate the free meal, finally managing to suppress the hunger in his stomach.

Following the flow of people out of the cafeteria, George Miller looked up at the sun shining high in the sky. The brilliant sunlight felt scorching on his face. “No wonder this is one of the top hundred key schools in the Federation, and it just happens to be in my city, Huai City. The food at St. Oriole High School is probably the best around... This afternoon’s classes are different; school ends at three. That’s just right—I can go there and test whether my abilities are actually useful.”

He glanced again at the five faint red attributes at the bottom of his field of vision, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. In his mind, he recalled the national map he had memorized before. “I also need to check out the specifics of my surroundings...” Thinking this, he looked around, picked a direction with fewer people, and strode off, quickly disappearing into the gap between buildings.

In the afternoon, the orange-red sunlight slanted across the surface of Huai City, dyeing the clusters of buildings—tall and short alike—a deep red. Some of the tall spired and domed buildings even reflected a mirror-like sheen. A gentle breeze blew, bringing waves of warm air.

On the north side of the city, at the end of the street to the left of the famous St. Oriole Academy, stood a spacious courtyard of alternating gray and redwood. The front of the courtyard was just simple houses, while the back held two huge, wide sports fields.

In one corner of the yellow sports field on the left, under the shade of the trees, several boys in yellow uniforms were each striking and hitting wooden stakes, the sharp sounds of their blows echoing nonstop. A young man in white walked among the boys with his hands behind his back, occasionally correcting improper movements.

Near the edge of the shade, at the very end, one of the boys in yellow—purple-haired, with wine-red eyes—was none other than George Miller, who had come here right after school at St. Oriole Academy.

This was an ordinary martial arts school near St. Oriole Academy, specializing in teaching the basics of martial arts and combat.

He and two male classmates from the academy had joined this martial arts school on a whim, simply because they saw how strong and healthy the apprentices looked and wanted to train their own bodies.

At this moment, George Miller was absentmindedly tapping the wooden stake in front of him. The stake was as tall as a person, dark yellow all over, with a layer of yellow rubber wrapped around it, so hitting it didn’t hurt his hands at all.

After a while, he paused to rest. “The George Miller in my memories had average talent, but he did put in a lot of hard work learning these things. He had mastered the basic combat techniques of Baiyun Martial Arts School. It’s just that his physical aptitude was so poor that, in a world without inner strength or supernatural powers, a weak body is a waste no matter what.” Leaning on the thick, round wooden stake, George Miller panted lightly, organizing his thoughts. “At Baiyun Martial Arts School, the head instructor is rarely seen. Usually, the ones teaching combat techniques are the disciples of the head instructor, and their fundamentals are extremely solid. As for those teaching us...” George Miller’s gaze fell on the young man in white walking toward him. “One is this Robert Clark, and the other is a girl named Sarah Cooper.”

“I’ve already become quite proficient in the basic combat techniques I’m learning now; it’s just that my constitution is too poor, so I never get any real attention...” George Miller had already made some plans in his mind.

With a plan in mind, he began to continue training according to the muscle memory in his body.

After a few minutes, from the far end of the sports field, a black-haired ponytailed girl in white walked over quickly and spoke a few words in a low voice to the young man Robert Clark standing among the students. Robert Clark then simply walked straight toward the exit of the field, where someone seemed to be waiting for him.

The ponytailed girl in white, who was now taking over for Robert Clark as instructor, was Sarah Cooper. Most of the students were already familiar with her, so no one had any questions.

George Miller glanced at Sarah Cooper.

Her long legs were her most striking feature. She was tall, with a slender waist, charming features, and fair skin. As she continuously demonstrated the correct movements, her chest bounced slightly with each vigorous motion, revealing an astonishing tautness and elasticity.
