Chapter 7

The scene gradually faded away, and next, I found myself at the edge of a vast forest. Various operation prompts appeared at the side of my vision. To be honest, operating a game with a 70% level of virtual reality is much more difficult than using a keyboard. Fortunately, I do have some talent for gaming. After nearly two hours, relying solely on the keyboard and brainwave commands, I was already able to perform various actions with ease. By the time the game officially launches, I probably won’t have any trouble killing monsters.

It seems the official website mentioned that it usually takes three days to get used to the controls of "Yueheng," but I only needed two hours. Could this be what they call gaming talent?

Thinking about it, when I played WAR3, I could make six effective clicks per second. For someone with that kind of skill, adapting to a new game a bit faster is no big deal. I just wonder if my “old friends” can get the hang of the controls as quickly. Jack Reed is even faster than me; if he gives up Warcraft to play "Yueheng," he probably won’t be bad at it either.

“Ding! System prompt!”

“You have been online for eight hours. Please take a break!”

“This is your first time using this helmet. Would you like to enable iris lock?”

I quickly clicked confirm. After playing for most of the night, it was already three in the morning when I took off the helmet. I hurried to wash up and go to bed. If Linda Harris saw me still awake at three, she definitely wouldn’t be happy.

Lying in bed, I was still thinking about the feeling in the game just now. Such a realistic game is truly something to look forward to. Before the game officially starts, many features aren’t available yet, such as the pain and taste systems, which are currently turned off. There isn’t even a real character of your own yet. It’s said that the character’s face in the game is determined by the helmet scanning your real face, and you can make some adjustments, but you can’t turn a dinosaur into a beauty.

That’s probably for the best. But I bet someone as shameless as Grace will definitely make herself look even prettier, just to make it easier to attract men… But she’s already very beautiful, even without any changes she could make a whole group of single-celled men fall for her. As for Hannah Cooper, there’s no need to even mention it—her looks are the kind that make men drool.

Linda Harris is beautiful too, but compared to Hannah Cooper, she has a more charming and mature allure. If body scanning were possible, I bet she’d choose a night elf girl, and that would definitely make a bunch of rich young men in the game follow her around like lost puppies.

Come to think of it, even after half a year, I still don’t really know what her background is. She never takes clients, even though many regulars have asked, but she always politely refuses. Linda Harris also treats her employees quite well—at least she never withholds wages or commissions.

Thinking about all this, I finally drifted off to sleep. When I woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky. Luckily, it seemed everyone else had played too long as well, and I was actually the first to wake up.

Chapter Six: The Game Begins!

Everyone looked very excited, even Hannah Cooper was smiling like a little flower.

After shopping, Linda Harris called an impromptu meeting to discuss our plans:

“Everyone’s classes have been assigned. Right now, no one really knows what the game will be like, or even if there will be a newbie village. Plus, nearly a hundred million helmets have already been distributed worldwide, but there’s only one server. If there aren’t many newbie villages, it’ll probably be packed. So I think at the start, everyone should play on their own for a while. The game starts at midnight tonight, so we can go to bed in the afternoon, get up at eleven to eat, and log in right at twelve. We’ll log off at eight in the morning and report our progress. Any questions?”

Grace put down her cup and said, “Staying up late isn’t good for your skin, and eating at ten at night is kind of crazy, isn’t it?”

Linda Harris replied expressionlessly, “You don’t have to log in, but from now on, everyone’s salary will be based on their contribution to the family. It’s up to you.”

“Fine, the game is more important anyway…”

No one had any objections, so everyone went back to their rooms to sleep. Hannah Cooper followed me into the inner room, and before entering, she even stuck out her tongue at me, leaving me a bit confused.

I decided to treat it as a nap, but I woke up before three in the afternoon. I barely made it to dinner, and after eating, I couldn’t sleep at all. So I opened the "Yueheng" forum to see if there was any information that might help us.

I saw a post titled “Talent, Absolute Impact!” pinned at the top. Clicking in, I found that although the official website hadn’t released any details, reliable sources said that when creating a character in "Yueheng," each player is randomly assigned a talent. As for what “talent” actually is, no one knows yet, but at least it won’t affect the game’s balance. Since each account is limited to one per person, and you can only create a new account a month after deleting one, there shouldn’t be any talent farming. It all comes down to personal luck!
