Chapter 12

Owen Clark kept it in mind, thought for a moment, and asked, “You want me to fuse the bloodline in a short time—using the second method?”

Anthony let out a cold laugh. “Such a weak method is not even within my consideration. The ancestors left behind a creed of strength and dominance. Devouring is the law we believe in. If you fail, it only means you’re too weak.”

Owen Clark wiped his sweat. “Can’t we just talk properly? Don’t be so intense. You’re not Xiahou Dun.”

“Xiahou what?”

“Xiahou Dun.”

“What Hou Dun?”

“Xiahou Dun.”

“Xia what Dun?”

“Xiahou… Can we stop with this joke?”

Owen Clark coughed and asked in confusion, “But I don’t know the devouring method.”

Anthony smiled. “Devouring bloodlines is an instinct eternally sealed in our lineage by the ancestors. When the time comes, you’ll naturally know how. Which race’s bloodline do you want to fuse?”

Before Owen Clark could answer, a tiger’s roar rang out.

“Roar!”

The massive tiger’s roar shook the mountains and forests, the sound waves flattening swathes of trees.

Owen Clark jumped up, looking toward the direction of the beast’s roar, muttering to himself, “That’s the roar of a Black Iron-class Fiercefang Tiger.”

After the tiger’s roar, another beast’s deep growl sounded, like a humming bronze bell, full of presence. Yet, within this roar was a trace of anguish. Owen Clark, having learned beast language from the powerful hunter Anthony, had some ability to communicate simply with beasts and could discern the emotions in the roar.

“That’s the roar of a Ural White Bear. Two powerful beasts are fighting. How does the Fiercefang Tiger dare to challenge the overlord of this region, the Ural White Bear? Unless…” Owen Clark’s eyes lit up. There was only one possibility in this situation: the Ural White Bear is a solitary creature, and gives birth to cubs during the coldest part of winter. Judging by the time, it’s the Ural White Bear’s birthing season—its weakest moment.

Creatures above Black Iron-class possess a certain intelligence. Gold-class creatures are no less intelligent than ordinary humans.

“Let’s go take a look!” Owen Clark made up his mind and set off immediately.

In the snowy forest, there was a cliff, and below it a rocky cave. In front of the cave, two powerful beasts faced off.

One was a massive tiger-like beast, over five meters long, its bulging muscles rippling like pythons, fur long and flowing, gusts of wind swirling outward in all directions. A pair of white fangs jutted from its upper lip, very much like a saber-toothed tiger from memories of a previous life, but much larger in size.

Facing off against the Fiercefang Tiger was a snow-white giant bear, appearing even larger than the tiger. If the Fiercefang Tiger looked robust, this white bear looked burly and heavy.

The white bear’s eyes were as clear as red crystals, its four limbs pressed to the ground, growling low at the Fiercefang Tiger. In its small bear eyes flickered many emotions: anger, despair. The white bear stood guard in front of the cave, refusing to leave. From within the cave came the tender roars of bear cubs—its newborn children.

A Gold-class creature: the Ural White Bear.

The Ural White Bear is a powerful branch among bear beasts, possessing extremely strong frost abilities, also known as the “Ice Prayer White Bear.” On its back, chest, and bear arms were several thick, ice-blue patterned stripes, constantly glowing with a faint blue mist. Frost and snow would burst forth with every flicker of the blue markings, looking quite mesmerizing.

But the Ural White Bear’s temperament was the complete opposite of its elegant appearance—it was extremely bloodthirsty and violent, a fierce and solitary creature.

This mother Ural White Bear had just given birth and was in a very weak state, taken advantage of by the Fiercefang Tiger.

The Fiercefang Tiger roared, suddenly leaping forward and breaking the standoff, its tiger claws slashing out, sending several massive wind blades flying.

Creatures above Black Iron-class possess powerful innate abilities. The Fiercefang Tiger is primarily a wind-type beast.

The Ural White Bear’s ice markings flared brightly. Its forelimbs slammed the ground, and a half-meter-thick ice wall shot up. Amidst the harsh scraping sound, the wind blades left huge claw marks on the ice wall.

“Roar!”

The Fiercefang Tiger leapt over the ice wall, biting fiercely at the Ural White Bear’s head. The Ural White Bear’s movements belied its bulky frame—its arm shot up quickly, and as it rose, the ice markings on its arm rippled with an icy blue wave, forming a thick layer of ice armor. When bitten, there was a crack, but only a layer of ice shattered—the Fiercefang Tiger’s fangs had bitten into the ice armor.

The Ural White Bear slapped the Fiercefang Tiger sideways with its paw. With a muffled bang, it sent the tiger flying over ten meters, the shockwave blasting apart a huge pile of snow.

However, after rolling a few times on the ground, the Fiercefang Tiger shook its head and stood up, completely uninjured.

“The Ural White Bear’s strength should be its forte. This bear is too weak.” Owen Clark and Anthony hid in the nearby woods, with Anthony explaining to Owen Clark.

Owen Clark observed the Ural White Bear—its elegant yet wild appearance, its formidable strength, and the familiar aura of ice and snow made him feel a sense of kinship. Demacia awoke from his slumber, speaking in a deep, muffled voice: “I am the King of Frost Demons. This white bear suits you well. With my mastery over frost elements, you’ll gain the greatest benefit when fusing with a frost-type creature.”

Oh wow, finally some benefits.

Owen Clark nodded. “Captain Anthony, I’ve decided. For my first bloodline, I want the Ural White Bear!”
