Chapter 17

A majestic voice rolled in like thunder from the sky: “His Majesty has broken the agreement, entered the territory without permission, and has been hiding for over two hundred years. Mr. King has the duty to defend the land and protect the people—how could I allow a demon to parade here? If there has been any offense, I ask His Majesty to atone.”

That clear, melodious voice was clearly from the white-robed woman from before.

The one who spoke afterward must be the pursuer she mentioned—likely another supreme powerhouse.

Ethan Brooks’s heart skipped a beat.

His Majesty?

That woman… ahem, that woman who claimed to be of the demon race, is actually a Majesty?

He had already tried to estimate her status as highly as possible, but never imagined she was a ‘Majesty’?

What kind of great demon could be called Majesty?

But is that even a question?

If that’s the case, then the one he’s holding in his arms right now is actually… a princess?

“So noble! Instantly so noble!”

Ethan Brooks gasped.

Even the way he looked at the swaddled baby changed.

He never thought he’d have the chance to hold someone of such royal blood.

He immediately felt as if his own status had been elevated infinitely.

…………

[Something super embarrassing happened today, and I was utterly ridiculed by Sailor Shirt… I won’t say more, I’m covering my face and running away…]

Thanks to Little Reed, Nora King, King's Mark, Michael Bolton, titeng; and the lords 三生 and 孤 for their generous support, and thanks to all the other brothers for their support as well.

Also, Mark, you’ve been away from the organization for so many years—aren’t you coming back yet? What are you waiting for?

Ethan Brooks stepped into the room. Two heads peeked out from the doorway in terror. Seeing it was Ethan Brooks, they breathed a sigh of relief and quickly shrank back inside.

The wind outside grew even stronger.

Woooo, it howled fiercer and fiercer.

Soon, it was like wind sweeping through a sea of trees, with all the mountains echoing.

The white-robed woman’s clear voice was tinged with anger, echoing from afar: “Edward King, you’ve crossed the line. This is Qingming’s territory. As a Yan person, what right do you have to meddle in Qin’s affairs!”

“I am living in seclusion in Qin, what does that have to do with you people of Yan?!”

That Edward King’s majestic voice boomed like thunder: “The affairs of the world are everyone’s concern. Demons hiding among humans is against reason, and even more so against the agreement made with the Human Emperor back then; anyone may intervene!”

The woman sneered: “You speak so righteously, but if it weren’t for the current war between Southern Great Qi and Great Qin, would you, Edward King, really dare to venture in alone, unafraid of never returning?”

Edward King laughed heartily: “Why wouldn’t I dare? What can mere Qingming do to me? Since His Majesty has hidden among mortals for two hundred years, why leave in such haste… Stay a while, let’s drink together—how about it?”

As he spoke, suddenly there was a thunderous explosion.

Immediately after, a hurricane swept through, and countless treetops above Ethan Brooks’s head were violently blown away.

Ethan Brooks rolled his eyes upward, staring blankly at the night sky above, the stars winking at him indifferently.

Where did that huge roof I was just under go?

—The roof actually just whooshed away a moment ago…

Level zero smoke straight up to the sky… Level three, leaves rustle and flags unfurl… Level eight, branches snap in the wind, level nine, roof tiles fly…

Oh crap!

Ethan Brooks gasped. The battle between those two in the sky actually brought at least a level nine gale to my place!

From the neighboring house came the sound of shivering, as if two terrified old sows were huddled together, trembling uncontrollably…

In the distance came a sound like a mountain collapsing.

Clearly, the two had exchanged a blow.

With just one move, the earth split and mountains crumbled, devastation everywhere.

The sounds of battle came intermittently, some clear, some muffled.

With a loud smack, a huge bird weighing dozens of pounds was shaken down by the aftershocks of the fight, crashing headfirst in front of Ethan Brooks, its neck snapped.

“Holy crap!”

Ethan Brooks’s scalp tingled.

Having no roof is really a problem—this thing actually charged into my house and killed itself right in front of me!

Is it that even the heavens can’t bear to see me go without meat for so long?

Amidst the rumbling earth and sky, that majestic voice rang out again as Edward King said, “His Majesty’s cultivation seems to have regressed quite a bit. Mr. King is pleasantly surprised—my chances of drinking with His Majesty are looking good!”

The white-robed woman’s clear voice: “Edward King, I’ll remember your invitation today. When the day comes that I accept, I hope your Great Yan can withstand my return gift!”

The voices faded into the distance, their echoes already hundreds of miles away.

Edward King laughed loudly: “Why wait for another day when fate has brought us together today? I’m in high spirits—why spoil the mood? Let’s drink and settle our grudges right now! Don’t leave, Your Majesty, here I come!”

A cold snort sounded, already far, far away.

The hurricane howled, and Edward King was clearly in hot pursuit.

All the big and small trees in the little town bowed together in salute because of their actions, branches snapping with cracking sounds; on countless rooftops, tiles were lifted and the roofs whooshed away…

A few old houses, long in disrepair, even collapsed with a crash, dust rising, only to be swept away without a trace by the fierce winds.
