Chapter 20

“All security at Jinxiu, attention, all security at Jinxiu, attention, this is William Smith. All security from Team One, Team Two, Tianshenghua Center, and Hanfu Center, gather in the KTV main hall. Security on each floor of the KTV, go to the third floor to maintain order!” After entering the room, William Smith knew things couldn’t be settled peacefully anymore, so he immediately relayed the order through the walkie-talkie.

“Team One, copy!”

“Team Two, copy!”

“Tianshenghua Bath Center, copy!”

“Hanfu, copy.”

“Copy, KTV security here, on our way.”

……

The people in the room just watched William Smith perform; no one said a word. After giving the orders, William Smith walked forward, squatted down, and checked the pulse of the security guard lying on the ground. Fortunately, he had only been hit on the back of the head with a beer bottle, his pulse was normal, and he was probably just knocked out. He pointed at the three security guards still standing and said, “You three, help your brother who’s down and take him out.”

William Smith didn’t speak loudly, but his words seemed to carry a commanding power. The three security guards, seeing their backbone, stepped forward and moved aside the big man who had just been blocking the way. Surprisingly, the big man didn’t stop them this time. One guard took the arms, two took the legs, and together they carried the injured guard out the door. Outside, a crowd of curious guests and hostesses parted to make way.

“Alright, everyone, go back to your fun, disperse… My brothers had a bit too much to drink tonight, sorry for the scene… Go on, sing, play, have fun… disperse!” William Smith dispersed the onlookers, then grabbed Mama Miller, who was hiding in a corner, and whispered, “Don’t leave, stay here. Tell the security who come later to surround the private room!” Then, not giving Mama Miller a chance to reply, he slammed the door shut with a “bang.”

Henry Johnson hadn’t said a word since entering the room, and of course, he wasn’t worried at all. Hearing the door close, Henry Johnson thought to himself with a grin: Business is coming again, damn, this sucker looks like he’s loaded, with both bodyguards and lackeys…

“Gentlemen, this wasn’t right. Even if you’re not having fun, you can’t just hit people!” William Smith stared at the weak-looking man on the sofa and said.

“With all this fuss, who are you? Get your boss Helen Scott here!” The weak man took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, and the baby-faced guy next to him quickly lit it for him. The weak man took a slow drag.

“Brother, this is a VIP diamond member of Jinxiu City. The boss said we must take good care of him,” the big man standing nearby spoke up first.

“Who are you? You look familiar!” William Smith looked at the big man. Actually, from the moment he entered, he knew this was a black-clad security guard from the Jinxiu KTV VIP Club. Although they hadn’t interacted before, he had seen him around.

“Jinxiu VIP security, David Baker. Brother, I know you, you’re Captain William Smith, right?” The big man immediately revealed William Smith’s identity.

“We’re all family!” William Smith said, though he was actually quite angry inside. Especially with security colluding with guests to bully the hostesses—nothing made him angrier. He continued with a sour tone, “This isn’t the VIP club. Did the boss tell you to come here and beat people up too?”

“Captain Smith, no, please… forgive me, I just got anxious and went a bit overboard!” The big man called David Baker saw William Smith’s unfriendly expression and didn’t dare act tough anymore, his tone softening.

“Then tell me, what happened today? If everyone comes here beating up security and hostesses, what the hell am I still a captain for!” William Smith cursed.

“Alright! Don’t make it hard for David, I’ll explain…” The weak man, surnamed Wang, actually had a bit of swagger. He flicked his half-smoked cigarette away and said, “We just came out to have some fun. Saw this chick looked good, wanted to take her out, but she didn’t know what’s good for her and even cursed at us. So my buddy here taught her a lesson!”

“Then who hit my man?” William Smith asked.

“It was me!” David Baker interjected. “The security came in to take someone, and I was afraid they’d hurt Mr. Brooks, so I stepped in to block them.”

“Brother, you went way too far!” William Smith said angrily. “I don’t care if you beat people up in the VIP club or whatever, but you come here and hit my guys, that’s not right!”

“Alright, alright, enough about David. Talk to me.” The weak man surnamed Wang impatiently interrupted William Smith, pulled out a stack of cash from his bag, and slapped it on the armrest of the sofa. “That’s ten thousand yuan. Let’s call it even. I’m taking the girl tonight, and the money’s for your guys’ medical bills!”

At this point, William Smith had already figured out the situation: classic case of guests throwing their weight around and security acting as accomplices. Originally, William Smith was planning to squeeze some money out of them to settle things, but when he saw Rose crouched on the floor, eyes blazing with anger, and the look of disdain on Wang’s face, a surge of rage welled up inside him. Damn it, just because you have money you think you’re untouchable? If I don’t make you hurt tonight, I’m not Smith!

“Mr. Brooks, right?” William Smith started to smile a little. “About what happened tonight, if my guys offended you, please don’t take it to heart.”
