Chapter 13

Watching Instructor Kelly devour his meal with such gusto, Charles Lynn could only take a small bite. The steamed egg melted in his mouth, and the white arrowfish bones burst apart like jelly, filling his mouth with a strange, delicate fragrance.

This tastes amazing!

“You’re a lucky kid—most security trainees here don’t get to eat such specialty dishes…”

As Instructor Kelly enjoyed his lunch, he explained to Charles Lynn some important things about the White Arrow Training Camp.

“The registration for this batch of security trainees ends today. Tomorrow, there will be an entrance assessment. It’s not difficult, but it’s very important. There’s a written test and a shooting skills test. You need to focus—don’t waste your energy on close combat practice. Shooting skills are what keep a rookie security officer alive. As long as you can hit the second ring in the ‘Xing’ao Basic Shooting Test,’ you’ll pass.”

“If your shooting is already at the second ring, keep working hard. The entrance assessment is crucial—it counts for twenty percent of your record score. Understand?”

Charles Lynn nodded repeatedly, realizing that Instructor Kelly seemed cold but actually cared a lot about the trainees.

“Our White Arrow Port isn’t like Nanluo City—the security isn’t as good. If you run into trouble outside, think carefully before acting. Don’t stick your neck out recklessly. Remember, you’re just a security trainee, with only third-level Xin Yuan power. If you act tough, you might end up as food for the white arrowfish in York Inner Sea.”

With a hint of coldness in his expression, Instructor Kelly told this green rookie that the world outside the academy was completely different—especially in a chaotic place like White Arrow Port, acting on impulse could lead to consequences far worse than just a beating.

“I understand, Instructor Kelly.” Charles Lynn nodded.

Instructor Kelly nodded back, suddenly noticing two strengths in this young man—steadiness, and the ability to listen to advice. That was rare.

After all, Nanluo Academy was the top school in the Nanluo Province. Most graduates came out with a sense of arrogance, and usually let advice from instructors go in one ear and out the other.

As for what happened to those people, it was actually much worse than what Instructor Kelly described.

Glancing at Charles Lynn, he saw the young man listening intently, and in his unguarded gaze, there was genuine respect. This made Instructor Kelly feel quite pleased.

This is a good young man!

Thinking this, he decided to give this trainee a bit more guidance.

“If you can do what I’ve told you, you’ll generally have a smooth time during training camp. By the end of your trainee period, you should at least be able to join a township-level security department. If you can stay in White Arrow Port, you’ll even get an apartment. It’s a bit chaotic here, but the benefits are really good. Keep it up!”

Instructor Kelly offered a few words of encouragement.

Charles Lynn nodded with a smile, earnestly asking about some details regarding White Arrow Port.

“Hmm…”

Out of the corner of his eye, Charles Lynn caught sight of a somewhat familiar figure. He turned to look and saw a young man and woman walking by.

In fact, it wasn’t just Charles Lynn—everyone else in the cafeteria had stopped eating and was sneaking glances at the pair.

The man was tall and powerfully built, his physique and facial features chiseled like marble, making the women in the cafeteria’s eyes light up, as if they wanted to throw themselves at him.

The woman was even more striking—curvaceous, with a slender waist and long legs, her jet-black hair cascading over her shoulders. There was a hint of wildness in her innocence, that unique charm of a Dunkadan woman, making many of the men’s eyes nearly pop out.

Charles Lynn was also stunned, staring blankly at one of the pair.

“Kid, stop staring.”

Seeing Charles Lynn in a daze, Instructor Kelly teased, “Don’t even think about chasing after that girl. She’s someone you’ll never be able to get in your whole life.”

Why does that sound so familiar?

Charles Lynn was taken aback, then couldn’t help but laugh—wasn’t that exactly what he’d said to Henry Lewis?

“Instructor Kelly, I know. I’m just admiring a beautiful woman.” Charles Lynn replied with a smile.

Kelly chuckled, but felt the young man was just being polite. With a girl that beautiful, any man’s heart would skip a beat.

A young man fresh out of the academy, seeing a woman like that—how could he not have any thoughts, unless he didn’t like women at all?

Looking at Charles Lynn, who was still a bit dazed, Kelly secretly shook his head. He still had a bit of a good impression of this young man, so he warned, “That girl is Shawn Moore, like you, a security trainee this time, but her background is far from ordinary.”

“See the guy next to her? That’s Myron, a genius. He’s at the seventh level of Xin Yuan power, almost as strong as the training camp instructors. You think they’re a couple, but actually, he’s Shawn Moore’s bodyguard.”

“A girl like that—if you get involved, it’s big trouble for people like us from ordinary backgrounds. Of course, I’m just warning you. You’re not even half as good as Myron, and that girl wouldn’t look at you anyway.”

As Instructor Kelly spoke, it was just like that day when Charles Lynn had mercilessly teased his best friend Henry Lewis.

“Instructor Kelly, I know my own limits.” Charles Lynn squinted and replied with a smile.
