Chapter 19

He turned over and saw a bed next to him.

He remembered that Laura Scott and Olivia Baker were roommates, so who would be his own roommate?

Just then, the electronic lock on the closed dormitory door suddenly beeped, and the door was pushed open.

David Carter quickly sat up from the bed and craned his neck to look into the hallway.

He saw a tall boy dragging a suitcase coming in.

It seemed that this must be David Carter's roommate.

David Carter jumped off the bed and proactively reached out his hand: "Hi, my name is David Carter, you must be my roommate, right?"

The other person shook David Carter's hand lightly with his other hand, his smile barely visible, and he replied in a very simple and flat tone, "Hello, my name is Julia Evans."

After saying that, he let go of David Carter's hand and started unpacking his things, ignoring David Carter beside him.

David Carter was a warm-hearted person, so he quickly leaned over and said, "Do you need any help?"

Unexpectedly, this action caused quite a reaction from Julia Evans. He immediately stood up, blocking his already opened suitcase, and said to David Carter in a rather rude tone, "No, this is my privacy."

Normally, even if someone doesn't want help, they'd politely say thank you first and then decline.

It was the first time David Carter had encountered such a stiff, stern response, and for a moment he was stunned and a bit embarrassed.

Julia Evans, however, didn't care how David Carter felt. After speaking, he turned around and continued to unpack his things. But since David Carter was still standing nearby, every time he took something out of his suitcase, he would close and lock it again, then get up to put away what he had taken out, like putting his toothbrush and towel in the bathroom.

It really seemed like he didn't want David Carter to see what was inside his suitcase.

After David Carter snapped out of it, he turned to unpack his own things to cover up the awkwardness. He hadn't even opened his suitcase since he arrived.

But unlike Julia Evans's cautiousness, David Carter was much more carefree. He just took things out of his bag and suitcase and put them on the desk, then kept rummaging through his bag. When the desk was full, he piled things on the bed—clothes, towels, daily necessities... scattered everywhere.

In contrast, on Julia Evans's side, the suitcase was locked and unlocked repeatedly, but the bed remained spotless and perfectly tidy.

Throughout the whole process, he didn't say a single word, just quietly did his own thing.

David Carter was also focused on unpacking, so he didn't really notice.

But when he finished unpacking and was alone in the room with Julia Evans, he started to feel... uncomfortable.

He had just said goodbye to the chatterbox Laura Scott, and now he was faced with a "mute" who didn't say a word—the contrast was huge.

But David Carter would rather be with Laura Scott than stay in a room with someone so cold and frosty. Even though it was summer, he felt especially cold in the room.

He even went to check the air conditioner controller to see if the temperature was set too low, but it showed twenty-six degrees, which was normal.

Several times, David Carter wanted to start a conversation with Julia Evans, even if it wasn't chatting, just a few simple words would do.

But every time he was about to speak, Julia Evans seemed to have a sixth sense, lifting his gaze from his book to look at David Carter.

That look was as calm as a still pond, almost like dead water, making David Carter feel creeped out. The courage he had just mustered, along with the words on the tip of his tongue, vanished into thin air.

Luckily, Julia Evans's phone rang soon after, and he went out to take the call, finally allowing David Carter to breathe a sigh of relief.

He lay on his back on the bed and let out a long breath, as if he had been holding his breath underwater the whole time.

But he didn't feel troubled by it.

He was still full of anticipation for the upcoming training and competitions.

A guy with a lot of G-spots... no, I mean, a lot of landmines and a bad temper, a chatterbox from the northeast, a friendly and gentle warm guy, and now such a cold and aloof guy...

This is really interesting!

Chapter 8 The Biggest Name

David Carter's first meal at the training base was lunch on the day of registration, eaten together in the cafeteria not far from the dormitory building.

Here, David Carter not only saw Laura Scott, Olivia Baker, and the hot-tempered guy Benjamin Howard again, but also met the other teammates.

As soon as Laura Scott saw David Carter, he enthusiastically called him over to sit.

So David Carter carried his stainless steel tray over and sat with Laura Scott and Olivia Baker.

"Hey, David Carter, did you hear?" As soon as David Carter sat down, Laura Scott leaned in mysteriously, as if he had some new scoop.

"Hear what? You have new info again?" David Carter was excited and responded eagerly.

This made Laura Scott very happy—if you enthusiastically share gossip and no one listens, how boring is that? Even a good tune needs an appreciative audience; who wants to play music to a cow?

Laura Scott liked people like David Carter who played along, so he lowered his voice and said, "This morning, didn't I ask you who else hadn't arrived besides you?"

"Yeah. Has that person arrived?"
