Chapter 2

"......I was just saying, just talking isn't against the law, and besides, if you get struck by lightning, you really do get smarter!!" Evan seemed completely oblivious to the danger, still going on about the matter. Maybe this wasn't the first time something like this had happened, and he was already used to it.

"You still dare to talk!"

"What? This isn't the first time anyway. You guys just go save him, punish me afterwards if you want." Evan said indifferently. This wasn't his first time, and every time afterwards he would get a minor punishment, having to do some heavy and difficult work.

"This time is different, the third young master is about to die..."

"Ah, no way, doesn't the third young master know a bit of martial arts? I thought his resistance was strong..."

Although he couldn't practice cultivation techniques, he could still train in the basics. And even though the third young master was a bit dull, he always worked hard, so his physical condition was actually quite good.

"How would we know? Stop wasting time with this kid. Someone, take him to the second master for punishment..." The crowd directly escorted Evan away, their movements practiced, as if this wasn't the first time either.

"Hey, hey, I haven't finished my work here yet, can you wait a bit..." Evan still cared more about his work.

"......We'll have someone else do your work. What you need to do now is come with us!!"

"......"

And so, the crowd escorted the "criminal" Evan to the third young master's place, where the third young master's parents and others were waiting for him with angry glares, along with some who were gloating and just there to watch the show.

At this moment, the third young master was receiving treatment from the Mo family physicians, but judging by their expressions, the situation seemed very critical.

"Evan!" The third young master's father said in a deep voice. At this moment, if the third young master didn't still have a sliver of hope, he probably would have already taken action against Evan.

A lowly servant was nothing to the Mr. Parker; he could kill him if he wanted!!

"Here! Mr. Parker, what do you need from me?" Evan stood at attention, as if being inspected.

"Need something?" Mr. Parker's face twitched a little. "What do you think? Why did you say getting struck by lightning would make someone smarter?"

"I just heard it somewhere!" Evan replied, muttering to himself that he'd already explained this, so why ask again.

"Heard it from who?" Mr. Parker asked, seeming to forget he'd already asked before.

"I don't remember, maybe it was the second nephew's sister-in-law of Grandpa Seven's..." Evan said, rattling off a string of complicated relations. His answer seemed to explain why Mr. Parker kept asking.

"......"

Mr. Parker frowned. He felt that Evan probably wasn't lying, because the answer was so convoluted and always the same, it didn't seem made up on the spot.

Of course, Mr. Parker had someone check, and there really was such a person, who had interacted with Evan several times. He himself had forgotten what he'd said, so it was possible he had mentioned it.

"No matter who it was, if anything happens to my son this time, you'll be buried with him!" Mr. Parker said coldly.

"......What does this have to do with me..." Evan looked innocent, but didn't seem to care or be afraid. He faced everything so calmly that, even among the lowly servants, he was a bit special.

If he hadn't grown up in the Mo family since infancy, people would definitely suspect he was an undercover spy!

Evan had been found by the Mo family head outside. At the time, the Mo family head was leading the Mo family elites to a martial gathering. On the way, he saw a baby abandoned in the wilderness and had someone take the baby in.

At that time, Evan was in rags, clearly a child from a poor family, with nothing on him except a small jade pendant. The jade looked decent, but the craftsmanship was a bit rough. It wasn't worth much and could be found anywhere.

The only difference was that the small jade pendant had a few very roughly carved characters, some of them blurry, but the two characters Evan were relatively clear—actually, the only two clear ones.

And so, Evan got his name!

The Mo family searched the area at the time but found no one. They even left people to wait for a few days, but still no one came, so the Mo family adopted the baby. Of course, he was only taken in as a servant, not as an adopted son or anything like that.

If they did that, the Mo family would have a lot more adopted sons!!

Evan learned to be a servant from a young age and could adapt to any situation, so he appeared everywhere in the Mo family, doing whatever a servant should do.

He seemed to learn everything quickly and worked very diligently, so he was welcomed everywhere. Whenever something needed to be done, people would call on him for help.

But no one seemed to care how much Evan actually knew, or to what extent. As long as he could do the job and do it well, that was enough for everyone.
