Chapter 2

He only felt as if a bolt of lightning had struck him on the head, leaving him completely stunned. He had no idea who Samuel Clark was, but the names Benjamin Franklin and John Adams were so familiar to him that he couldn't be more familiar. So, that meant the beautiful woman in front of him was the legendary Abraham Lincoln, the famously ruthless and cunning empress?

No way, this woman had four sons in total, killed two, and the remaining two were tormented by her until they were half dead. Damn heavens, are you blind? How could you make me end up with such a mother? Am I not just asking for death?

Seeing the woman's face change dramatically and feeling his whole body being squeezed tighter, he immediately snapped back to his senses. Since he had already transmigrated, complaining was useless; the only thing to do was to find a way to change his situation. Wait, which son of his mother was he? The last two at least had some luck, but if he was the eldest or second son, he was truly doomed!

Just then, the horse-faced wet nurse came forward and took him from The Lincoln Family's arms. Seeing that she was about to get up and leave, in his panic, his tongue, which had just been completely uncontrollable, suddenly worked, and he blurted out two words as if inspired.

"Mother Empress!"

The words were clear, the voice loud, and the pronunciation correct. Seeing The Lincoln Family turn her head, he cheered inwardly at his success and immediately broke into a big smile. As for the palace maids and eunuchs around him who were dumbfounded, he couldn't care less about them!

A clever person never misses such a golden opportunity to flatter and praise. Immediately, a palace maid knelt down and kowtowed, saying, "Congratulations, Your Ladyship! Congratulations! His Highness just happened to call you 'Mother Empress' as you arrived—this is a heavenly omen, foretelling that Your Ladyship will surely ascend to the position of Empress!"

With someone taking the lead, the others were certainly no fools. Instantly, a large group knelt down, all showering her with flattery. He clearly saw his mother's face shift from stormy to cloudy, then from cloudy to sunny. Seeing this, he immediately played up his cuteness, smiling even more brightly.

"My good child, what did you just call me? Say it again?"

Oh my god, he was actually Henry Johnson, the unluckiest of Mrs. Lincoln's four sons! Although he was wailing inwardly, seeing his mother's expectant face, he quickly opened his mouth and called out again.

"Long live Mother Empress!"

This time, he called out even louder and clearer than before, stretching out both hands.

He had gambled right. This time, The Lincoln Family scooped him up in her arms and planted a big kiss on his cheek. As her soft lips touched his face, an endless surge of heroic spirit suddenly welled up in his heart.

So what if it's Abraham Lincoln? As long as he put in the effort, he might not end up reciting poems about picking melons in misery!

Chapter Two: Dad Can Be Fooled

Henry Johnson had once heard people say that the imperial palace of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty was several times larger than the Forbidden City of later generations. He hadn't believed it at first, but now, being carried along the grand avenues of the palace, seeing one palace after another, gradually losing all sense of direction, he had no choice but to believe it. In novels and TV dramas, aren't there always those sedan chairs and palanquins? Why did they still have to walk on two legs? How long would this take?

With such a long walk, it was naturally impossible for The Lincoln Family to be the one carrying him. Since the group was moving quickly, the horse-faced wet nurse was soon panting for breath, her face turning bright red. After all, everyone else was traveling light, but she alone had to carry such a burden as him, so it was no easy task.

Suddenly, The Lincoln Family slowed her pace a little, turned to look over, and nodded slightly, saying, "Grace Brooks, you must be tired from carrying Henry. Let Anna Brooks take over."

Seeing a dignified and beautiful young palace maid step out from beside The Lincoln Family, Henry Johnson was, of course, more than willing. As soon as she took him, he wrapped his arms around her neck and snuggled right up to her. As for Grace Brooks's incessant words of thanks, he didn't bother to listen to a single one. Youth was wonderful—even the scent on her body was more pleasant than Grace Brooks's.

Perhaps it was her first time doing this, so Anna Brooks seemed a bit awkward, while he, with his status as cover, brazenly sized up Anna Brooks, even letting his mischievous hands wander a bit. She looked much younger than The Lincoln Family, and her palace dress revealed large swathes of snowy white skin at the chest, smooth and voluptuous, especially alluring. After looking at her, he glanced at the other palace maids beside his mother, finding that each one's beauty surpassed that of the artificial beauties of later generations, making him click his tongue in secret.

After letting his thoughts run wild for a while, he saw a grand hall up ahead. Just as he made out the three characters "Liangyi Hall" on the plaque, a large group of people at the entrance knelt down, calling out "Your Ladyship" repeatedly.

All the way into the hall, no one stopped them—only wave after wave of people knelt to pay their respects. By this time, the one carrying him, Henry Johnson, was once again The Lincoln Family herself. Whenever someone saluted, she would always respond. After a while, his mother was still smiling and nodding with ease, but Henry Johnson was starting to get impatient, though he was even more impressed.

No wonder people say winning hearts is important. With The Lincoln Family being so thorough, how could Queen Smith possibly compete with her!
