“Dad, I already knew! I’ve met him a few times—he’s really troublesome, no idea what tricks he’s up to.” A barely noticeable cold smile flashed across Anna Sullivan’s face. “I’ll be careful!”
“That kid practices external martial arts—his punches and kicks are terrifyingly heavy, he could kill someone at any moment. Help? I think he’d just make things worse. As long as he doesn’t cause me any trouble, that’s good enough.”
While Anna Sullivan was on the phone here, James Carter also received a call from his mom: “Are you safe now? You’re old enough to help ease the family’s worries. The one who bailed you out is your Uncle Lü’s daughter, Anna Sullivan.”
“Bro, hurry up and chase after her! If you win her over, it’ll be much easier for our family at the board meetings, and your little sister will get a bigger dowry in the future.” On the phone, his little sister Emma Carter grabbed the line.
“Oh my god, what era are we living in?” James Carter felt his head swell. He could only reply repeatedly, “I’ll do my best, I’ll do my best.”
James Carter changed into a tracksuit and came out, seeing that everything outside had already been tidied up. Anna Sullivan was still sitting in the police car. “Are you driving or am I?”
“I can’t drive!” James Carter answered honestly. “Other than Iron Palm, it seems you can’t do anything else?” Anna Sullivan asked as she drove, her tone a bit surprised.
“Too lazy to bother!” James Carter replied indifferently. He then asked about internal martial arts, and after a few exchanges, the car had already arrived at their destination—a luxurious hotel in the city. They went straight up more than twenty floors. James Carter ordered iced bird’s nest, ginseng stewed soft-shelled turtle, and many other dishes, then started wolfing down his food, making Anna Sullivan frown repeatedly.
“Usually, when you dine alone with a beautiful woman, there’s a one hundred percent chance that one of her admirers will show up to cause trouble, leading to a string of problems. Of course, in the end, the hero still gets the beauty.” James Carter thought as he ate. At this moment, a gentle piano tune began to play in the luxurious hall, creating a soft atmosphere. Beautiful waitresses glided quietly back and forth.
“Hey! Anna Sullivan!” James Carter’s heart tightened, and he almost spat out his soup. “No way, could it really be this much of a coincidence? Trouble really is here!” He looked over and, sure enough, a group of men in suits was approaching. They looked like both officials and businessmen, and among them seemed to be a leading man, about twenty-eight or twenty-nine. When he saw them, his eyes suddenly lit up. He greeted his group and walked over gracefully.
“So it’s Young Master Foster. Is there something you need?” Anna Sullivan said coldly, suddenly noticing James Carter shoveling food into his mouth at lightning speed, his facial muscles twitching as if he was struggling to hold back laughter.
“Oh! It’s just an honor to see Miss Sullivan again, that’s all. Waiter! I’ll pay for this lady’s bill.” Young Master Foster smiled at Anna Sullivan, his handsome looks and designer clothes giving him an extraordinary presence. “I’ve wanted to invite Miss Sullivan to dinner for a long time, but you’ve always declined. Today, fate has brought us together, so I’ll take this chance. Miss Sullivan, you don’t mind, do you?”
“Hmm, I don’t mind, but—” Anna Sullivan pointed at James Carter, “someone else is treating today.”
Only then did Young Master Foster notice James Carter, who was noisily shoveling food with his chopsticks. His facial muscles twitched for a moment, but he quickly recovered, still smiling as he extended his hand. “My surname is Zhou, given name Huanwen. May I ask your name?”
“Surname Wang. Name Zhong.” James Carter also extended his hand. Young Master Foster glanced at James Carter’s hand, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes!
“Well, since someone else is treating, I’ll have to invite Miss Sullivan another time. I have some business to attend to, so I won’t disturb you two.” After shaking hands, Edward Foster quickly left.
“What are you laughing at!” Anna Sullivan saw how hard James Carter was trying to hold back his laughter and asked coldly.
“Nothing, just glad the classic scene from a novel didn’t happen.” James Carter voiced his thoughts. “Looks like this Young Master Foster is one of your admirers too. Normally, I’d be in for a lot of trouble. And my information would be dug up in no time. Don’t you think so, my master?” He winked and chuckled slyly, so much so that the passing waitresses had no idea what was going on and all glanced over.
“Let’s go, let’s go!” Anna Sullivan had originally wanted James Carter to kneel and formally become her disciple, but now she couldn’t take it anymore and dragged him away, even paying the bill herself.
Little did James Carter know, the trouble was far from over. Soon, a series of bizarre events would follow, leading to a bloody storm, heads rolling, and dozens of lives lost at his hands before it all finally ended!
Chapter 009: Mastery of Both Internal and External (Part 2)
The scorching sun was still blazing down, but this neighborhood was west of a lake, shaded by lush trees, and a refreshing breeze blew in from the water, making the air feel invigorating. Rows of white villas were staggered, with vast open spaces in between, covered in soft grass and dense trees. Compared to those crowded, suffocating apartment buildings, it was truly the difference between hell and paradise.
Although this city couldn’t compare to the capital or the coastal reform zones, real estate in such a crisis management area would still cost several million, close to ten million. Naturally, this was Anna Sullivan’s private villa.
Facing the rippling lake was a pine forest. The blazing sun’s rays filtered through the leaves, turning into scattered flecks of gold. With the lake breeze blowing, the heat lost all its power, replaced by a lazy, languid feeling.
