Brian Sutton smiled slightly and said, “The female fruit contains the breath of life; in the hands of a master from the Brahma Purity Sect, it is still useful. For others, even if they obtain it and eat it, it’s useless. When I entered the academy, I discovered the flower of the Adonai male fruit and used a minor concealment spell to hide it. As for who holds the female fruit, I don’t care. Master Tanner has several female fruits in his possession. If he finds out I have a male fruit, he’ll shamelessly come to ask for it. Why don’t we try out the power of this green fruit right here?”
William Harper was slightly taken aback. The lord was already among the ranks of the Celestial List; consuming the divine fruit of Adonai would have no effect. She herself was only a few steps away from the Celestial List and felt no greed. If only Eric were still here, this green fruit could help him lay his foundation, saving years of arduous cultivation. Yet she did not know how the lord intended to test the power of this green fruit.
She saw Brian Sutton form the lotus-seed mudra, place the green fruit within the hand seal, close his eyes, and chant an incantation. Amid the clear and melodious Sanskrit chanting of the Heart Sutra, a pillar of azure mist shot out from the back of his neck. Centered on this pillar of azure mist, an endless vortex of suction arose, drawing in the free energy of heaven and earth.
William Harper stepped back a few paces, firmly guarding her mind, finally stopping the leakage of her internal elixir power.
The free elemental forces, mottled and mixed, gathered around the pillar of azure mist. Elemental forces of different attributes collided, producing crackling flashes of electricity.
William Harper knew that the free elemental forces were forming an invisible barrier around Brian Sutton, ensuring that the spellcasting process would not be interrupted by external forces.
Amid the clear chanting, the azure mist shot rapidly toward the sky. Just as William Harper felt that Brian Sutton could no longer maintain the pillar of azure mist, a patch of white light suddenly flared up to the left of the sun in the sky.
The brilliance of the light was so intense that even in broad daylight, the sun could not outshine it.
The Kui Wolf Star.
Brian Sutton used a secret technique to directly draw upon the power of the Kui Wolf constellation.
Brian Sutton suddenly opened his eyes, which shone with blue light.
His gaze fell upon the sky above the academy, where crimson clouds gathered in four directions. The rolling crimson clouds rapidly spun into vortices. At the heart of each vortex, thunder rumbled, and blinding bolts of lightning shot out fiercely.
The dense crimson clouds cast a sinister shadow over the academy below.
Compared to the magnificent lightning and crimson clouds, the academy was shrouded in an aura of death. Elder Sims was the first to notice something was wrong. Startled, he fell to the ground, peering through the branches and leaves of the blooming flower trees, and saw that the dozens of acres of crimson clouds seemed tethered above the academy, churning violently like a boiling furnace.
Elder Reed sensed the immense energy contained within the crimson clouds. Elder Reed did not know where this calamity had come from; he only knew that if all the energy within the crimson clouds above the academy were released, the academy would be utterly destroyed. He formed a hand seal, intending to use a traction spell to move the crimson clouds elsewhere. But the power within the clouds had nowhere to vent; as soon as Elder Reed's mind touched the clouds, a surge of overwhelming, irresistible destructive force burst forth. Every nerve in Elder Reed's body was torn apart by the swiftly oncoming energy storm.
The crimson clouds remained completely unharmed, continuing to grow and churn.
Almost at the same moment the crimson clouds released the first bolt of lightning, Elder Reed lost consciousness.
Beneath the crimson clouds, lightning raged. When the clouds reached their limit, the dozens of acres of crimson clouds contracted to a single point in the blink of an eye, as if a rift in space had suddenly opened, sucking in all the clouds and lightning, leaving only a single, dazzling point of light.
The light of the Kui Wolf Star grew even more violent.
For a brief instant, time itself seemed to halt, then suddenly, countless blazing meteors spewed forth, crashing down upon the academy with unstoppable force; the ascetic Kevin Stone was rushing out of the Guanlan Hall to see what was happening...
“Thunderfall Annihilation!”
The reason Brian Sutton brought only William Harper with him was not just because of William Harper's formidable martial skills, but because Brian Sutton himself was a master ranked on the Celestial List. Even if the enemy sent an assassination squad, he could still leave calmly without much difficulty.
At this moment, Brian Sutton unleashed his own unique Celestial List technique, leaving William Harper utterly shocked. Such a world-shaking move would surely exhaust all his energy, leaving him in a state of extreme weakness for quite some time.
If enemies arrived upon hearing the commotion, how could William Harper possibly cope?
There was no time to worry about the future; immediate danger was at hand.
William Harper stood atop a high rock, feeling the continuous, earth-shattering tremors. The mountains cracked, and countless loosened boulders tumbled down from even higher up.
Without thinking further, William Harper leapt to shield Brian Sutton, shattering a massive boulder that was about to crash down on Brian Sutton's head. Dust filled the air, covering both of them from head to toe. Turning around, she saw that Brian Sutton showed no sign of exhaustion; a ball of azure light spread from his palm and vanished.
William Harper was utterly astonished: the starry divine power contained in just this green fruit was enough for the lord to unleash his Celestial List technique—Thunderfall Annihilation!
William Harper craned her neck to look down at the academy at the foot of the cliff, but there was no trace of it left. The gorge was filled with blazing meteors, each one shining with blinding white light from the extreme heat.
Standing atop a high cliff several miles away, waves of heat swept over, scorching her hair.
The area struck by the meteors covered about a mile in radius. William Harper's mouth hung open in shock, so stunned she forgot to close it.
