Chapter 13

On the side, a teenager with a face full of acne said, “In a moment, we’ll all rush in together—don’t run, no matter what! Even if each of us loses one level, we have to take down the BOSS with sheer numbers. After all, the Bronze Ghost General is the lowest-tier BOSS, just an elite level. Its HP won’t be that high, maybe only two or three thousand.”

“Yes.”

The young man holding a battle axe smiled slightly. “Don’t let them look down on us!”

“Go, go, go!”

The next moment, a group of nearly twenty people charged into the woods, quickly clearing out the level 9 skeleton soldiers along the way.

……

I was still clinging to the gnarled old tree, glancing into the distance. For now, no other teams had arrived; it seemed only this group would be here for a while. I’d better clear them out first—otherwise, if more and more people show up and I really get swarmed, I’ll probably die even with my stats.

Time to act!

With a thought, I dropped from the tree, drifting down like a withered leaf falling from an autumn branch, silent and soundless. Yet the bronze daggers in my hands split in two directions, striking directly at the backs of two players!

“Puff! Puff!”

“672!”

“599!”

With two attacks, they were instantly killed!

At this stage, these players only have about 400–500 HP if they don’t add to their health, so they can’t withstand even one of my normal attacks. And just as I finished the kills, I dashed forward without pause, my right dagger slicing through the air, carrying a chill as I activated the Backstab skill and plunged it into the back of the young man wielding the battle axe!

“1235!”

Again, instant kill!

“Ah!?”

The teenager beside him was shocked. “Damn… the BOSS just one-shotted the boss! Everyone, get him! Surround him and kill him for our boss’s revenge, damn it…”

All around, the group turned and charged at me.

My gaze hardened. Twin daggers flashed, and with three consecutive “puff, puff, puff” attacks, I instantly killed three players who had just raised their wooden swords. They were all stunned, never expecting the BOSS to attack so proactively. Plus, at this stage, players’ attack speed is too slow—the wind-up before an attack takes at least a second. But I’m different: with BOSS stat bonuses, my attack speed is lightning fast, letting me strike first!

Behind me, with a roar, a player wielding a peachwood sword struck the blade against the back of my bronze armor.

“Clang!”

“3!”

I almost couldn’t help but laugh—he didn’t even break through my defense!

No wonder. My current defense is 210 points, while the opponent’s attack… Even if a level 9 player puts all their points into attack, it’s probably less than 100. Not breaking my defense is normal; they can only forcibly chip away a single-digit amount of HP.

Now, I was even more fearless.

Piercing Strike!

A flash of the dagger, and the teenager’s body seemed to be torn apart. His eyes were blank as he slowly knelt to the ground, turning into a beam of white light and returning to the city.

“Damn, this BOSS is way too fierce!”

The besieging players were shocked. Even though four or five of them had managed to get close and attack me, their combined damage was less than 100, so my long 5,500 HP bar barely budged!

It was like walking through an empty field!

“Slash!”

“Swish!”

Twin daggers danced as I weaved through the crowd in a zigzag pattern, continuously harvesting the lives of these players. After killing more than a dozen in a row, suddenly a golden light descended from the sky!

“Ding!”

System prompt: Congratulations, you’ve leveled up!

……

I actually… reached level 2!?

While chasing and killing, I opened my character panel. My panel shows the base stats of a BOSS, and as I level up, the BOSS stats increase too. This is awesome—after leveling up, my base HP, defense, attack, and so on all improve, and the 5 attribute points I gained this time all went into Agility.

Agility is the assassin’s specialty stat. High-agility assassins not only have strong attack, crit, attack speed, and defense, but even movement speed gets a boost, so putting points into Agility is definitely worth it.

After quickly assigning the points, my stats were now completely different from before—

【July Blaze】 (Undead Assassin)

Level: 2

Attack: 14–21

Defense: 22

HP: 650

Crit: 0.05%

Comprehension: 94

Charisma: 0

Soul Star: 0

Contribution: 17

Combat Power: 28

……

My combat power had increased a lot, and both attack and defense had improved. I couldn’t help but take a deep breath and compare it to my previous detailed stats. Yep, just as I guessed, the Agility bonus for assassins in “Phantom Moon” is quite good—each point adds 0.5 attack, 0.2 defense, and 0.01% crit. The higher the stats get, the more powerful I’ll become.

And now, these stats were magnified tenfold on a BOSS, meaning the higher my level, the stronger I’d be. This time, I might really be able to survive!

“Puff!”
