Chapter 6

You can only learn fist and leg techniques. Why? Because weapons are too expensive, and palm or finger techniques just aren’t as lethal as fists.” Old Man Grant stroked his beard and said calmly.

“To learn boxing is to change your life! Only by mastering it can you have a chance to change your fate!”

“Teacher is right!” A few men nearby hurriedly flattered him.

Henry Webb said nothing, quickly took out his money pouch, held it up with both hands, and bowed as he offered it.

……

……

……

Evening.

Henry Webb was dressed in a brand-new gray cloth martial arts jacket, gray trousers, and a pair of cloth shoes with layered soles.

A conspicuous “郑” character was embroidered on his chest.

This outfit was the exclusive training uniform for apprentices under Old Man Grant.

The last ray of sunset slowly disappeared at the entrance of the alley.

Henry Webb walked quickly toward home, his face calm, but he was quite worried inside.

His second sister Emily Webb was home alone, and what he worried about was something happening to Emily Webb.

Although he wasn’t the original owner of this body and didn’t have deep feelings for this family, after all, they were family and had lived together for so long.

He hurried across a street, turned through several alleys, and soon, Henry Webb arrived again at the entrance of the alley in front of his house.

Right then, three figures were standing at the alley entrance, bent over, smoking dry tobacco.

The tallest and burliest guy had a buzz cut, a face full of fierce flesh, and stared fixedly at Henry Webb’s house. Who knows how long he’d been watching.

This guy was none other than William Brooks.

The other two were also tall and sturdy, clearly well-fed and not easy to mess with.

The sound of Henry Webb approaching startled the three who had been watching.

William Brooks turned his head, saw Henry Webb in the Zheng family training uniform, and showed a look of surprise, staring deeply at the “郑” character on the uniform.

He took the pipe from his mouth, glanced at Henry Webb, then turned and walked away without a word.

The other two lackeys hurried to follow him.

Both of them had also noticed the “郑” character on Henry Webb’s chest.

Clearly, they recognized his current status.

Old Man Grant of Huishan Boxing was not an unknown figure in the area. He was a force to be reckoned with.

Henry Webb calmly watched the three leave. If he faced all three alone, he definitely wouldn’t be able to win.

But now it was different. With this “tiger skin” on him, the three of William Brooks probably wouldn’t dare act rashly for now.

However, William Brooks had been eyeing his second sister Emily Webb for more than a day or two, and Henry Webb didn’t know how long this “tiger skin” would keep them at bay.

As for Old Man Grant, as long as someone paid, he was willing to take them in, so asking him for help was nothing but wishful thinking.

This was purely a pay-to-learn relationship—don’t expect anything else.

And if the eldest sister didn’t return for a long time, with her deterrence gone, the three of William Brooks would definitely start plotting again.

“So, I still have to work hard and rely on myself.”

He quickly walked to his door, took out his key, unlocked it, and went inside.

Emily Webb was curled up in a corner, not daring to move.

When she saw it was him, she stood up with tearful eyes and came over.

“Xiao He… I almost, almost thought I’d never see you again!” she burst into tears.

“It’s okay, I’m back, it’s all right now.” Henry Webb comforted her in a deep voice.

“William Brooks was right outside the door, kicking and pounding on it, waiting for a long time. I didn’t dare make a sound!” Emily Webb sobbed as she spoke.

Henry Webb said nothing, but his eyes grew colder and calmer.

“I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. Starting tomorrow, you’ll come with me to Huishan Boxing. I’ve told the teacher, and you can help out with some chores. As for the pay…”

“I’ll go! I’ll go even if there’s no pay! I really can’t stay here anymore! When you’re not around, that William Brooks comes by several times a day. I didn’t dare say anything… Before, I was afraid to trouble you… so I didn’t say anything…”

Emily Webb explained through tears, her emotions a bit agitated.

She knew about Old Man Grant’s Huishan Boxing school—hardly anyone in the area didn’t.

If her younger brother could really stand firm there, it would be a huge sense of security.

“It’s settled then. We’ll go tomorrow.” Henry Webb said seriously.

He had already etched the three of William Brooks deeply in his mind. It seemed his second sister had suffered a lot of fear and bullying while he was away.

After comforting his second sister, Henry Webb fetched a few buckets of water from the nearby stream and filled the water vat.

Then, together with Emily Webb, he began preparing the luggage for going to Huishan Boxing the next day.

The sky gradually darkened, and the moonlight rose, shining in through the window.

Henry Webb lit the oil lamp, had his second sister finish mending the remaining clothes, then carefully reviewed everything he had done to make sure there were no problems before blowing out the lamp and lying down to sleep.

As he slept, in the middle of the night, he was suddenly awakened by a burst of OO@@ noises.

Opening his eyes, Henry Webb quietly got out of bed, glanced at his second sister on the other bed—she was sleeping soundly.

He tiptoed to the window, gently opened a crack, and looked outside.

In the alley outside, a group of ordinary people in various clothes, their eyes shining with an eerie brightness, marched in a line, following two tall, thin men and women dressed in white, quickly passing by the window.

“Rebirth in bliss, rebirth in bliss, rebirth in bliss…”
