Chapter 6

Why the hell is this happening!!! My level is clearly higher than his! My equipment is better than his! My reputation is among the top!!!

In the classroom, the eerie sounds of scratching desks and grinding teeth echoed. Amidst this complicated background noise, Samuel Reed looked at Edward Thompson with a beaming smile, like a rose in the morning light: "I heard that Edward Thompson, you're an expert! Please give me some pointers in the future!"

"Edward Thompson probably won't have time anytime soon!"

Before Edward Thompson could respond, a voice sounded behind him. David Harris, who had just entered the room, wore a gloomy expression, his heart full of jealousy, and looked coldly at Edward Thompson and Samuel Reed.

David Harris had once pursued Samuel Reed. He came from a prominent family, was good-looking, and had great confidence in himself. He believed that a perfect girl like Samuel Reed was born to be his girlfriend, just like a sports car or a luxury watch—a dazzling accessory by Young Master Dai's side.

But what puzzled him was that Samuel Reed refused to date him. David Harris couldn't understand how any girl could turn down such a great opportunity.

And now, seeing her standing in front of Edward Thompson, smiling sweetly at him, David Harris's heart was one moment at the South Pole, the next at the Flaming Mountains.

Suppressing the jealousy that was burning him alive, David Harris asked in his signature gentle Young Master Dai voice, "Samuel Reed, are you playing 'Jianghu Online' too? Have you created a character yet? How about I guide you? Just let me know if you need anything."

Edward Thompson couldn't help but admire David Harris—how did this guy manage to look so icy when facing him, yet turn around and smile as warmly as spring?

"You?" Emily Parker glanced at David Harris with obvious disdain. "Can you get to the top of the Wangfu Pavilion at Diancang Mountain with just normal jumps?"

Everyone in the class knew about the situation between David Harris and Edward Thompson. Emily Parker had always looked down on petty guys, and whenever it came to her friends, she was fiercely protective. Even if Edward Thompson wasn't in the right, Emily Parker could still forcefully argue three points in his favor.

David Harris was visibly embarrassed. In his eyes, Emily Parker was nowhere near as pretty as Samuel Reed, just a noisy nobody. He wanted to curse her out, but with Samuel Reed present, he held back his anger and said, "I know lightness skills. I can leap straight to the top. Why bother with normal jumps?"

"Hmph, sure, you can, but Samuel Reed hasn't learned lightness skills yet. If she wants to see the Wangfu Clouds, can you get her to the top with you?" Emily Parker retorted.

"You can see the Wangfu Clouds just as well from inside the pavilion. The pavilion was built for people to rest and watch the clouds anyway. Why bother jumping to the roof?" David Harris knew his lightness skills weren't good enough to take someone else to the top, and Emily Parker clearly knew it too, which is why she brought it up so confidently.

"Tch, you have no idea. Clearly, you don't know that the view of the Wangfu Clouds from the roof is completely different. Samuel Reed, tonight let Edward Thompson teach you how to jump to the top of the pavilion. That's the real way to see the Wangfu Clouds." Emily Parker deliberately paired Samuel Reed and Edward Thompson together, making David Harris even more envious and resentful.

David Harris was already burning with rage inside, but he forced himself to hold back and stopped arguing about the Wangfu Pavilion and the Wangfu Clouds. Instead, he smiled and said, "Well, that's a bit of a shame. I'm afraid Edward Thompson won't have much free time for quite a while."

"Do you get to decide whether he has time or not?"

Emily Parker rolled her eyes and snapped back at David Harris before turning to look at Edward Thompson. She knew full well that David Harris wouldn't say something like that unless he was sure of himself.

"Uh, let's see tonight!" Edward Thompson replied.

"Hahahaha, do you really think your skills can help you escape the Wudang Sect's bounty?" David Harris's smile revealed a genuine viciousness.

Wudang bounty! The classmates who played "Jianghu Online" all looked at Edward Thompson in shock.

A bounty means that a sect, gang, or organization in the jianghu mobilizes all its forces to hunt down a single person.

Wudang, as one of the top orthodox sects, values etiquette and reason. Unlike evil sects like the Demon Sect or Wushan Sect, where offending a big shot could get you a bounty, Wudang only issues a bounty if someone has become an intolerable menace or done something absolutely unforgivable.

Whatever Wudang can't tolerate is obviously not some act of heroism. What on earth did Edward Thompson do to cause such a huge uproar?

David Harris scanned the room, satisfied with everyone's reactions, and finally said, "Our classmate Edward Thompson stole the sword of the great hero of Xiangzhong from the Wudang Sect's Sword Pool early this morning. Now that's some guts!"

The crowd erupted. Although David Harris emphasized the word "stole," it's just a game—people even kill others, so what's the big deal about stealing a sword from an NPC? No one cared about that; instead, they genuinely agreed with David Harris's sarcastic praise of his "guts."

Daring to steal a sword from Wudang's Sword Pool—that takes some serious courage.

"Edward Thompson, you're awesome! You actually dared to steal a sword from Wudang's Sword Pool!!" Emily Parker immediately praised him, making David Harris roll his eyes in frustration.
