Chapter 9

He glanced again at the pill in David Turner's hand, took it over for a careful look, sniffed it, and said, “This is indeed our Heart-Protecting Pill, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Moreover, this pill is fragrant and clearly of better quality, a higher grade than the usual ones. I’m not forcing you to take it, but your injuries are quite serious right now. If you’re not careful, it could affect your future cultivation. I advise you to take it.”

David Turner was truly bewildered this time. Could it be that he was just being overly suspicious? He’d heard that William Clark had just escaped death—could he really have changed his ways?

Eleanor Brooks is known for his uprightness; he would never deceive me. Thinking this, David Turner expressed his thanks and swallowed the Heart-Protecting Pill in one gulp.

Chapter 6: Changing the Prescription

As the pill entered his stomach, David Turner immediately felt clear-headed and refreshed, as if his whole body had become much lighter.

The effect was truly excellent!

It seemed that William Clark really had changed, actually giving him a top-grade Heart-Protecting Pill. At this moment, David Turner felt a bit ashamed for having judged a gentleman with a petty mind.

“Warrior, how are you feeling?” William Clark asked with a broad smile.

David Turner cupped his hands, expressing his gratitude, “Thank you, Young Master Clark. I was being reckless—please don’t take offense. But let’s get back to the main topic. Forgive my ignorance, but I’ve truly never heard of any Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python.”

David Turner hadn’t forgotten his mission; once his injury was healed, he immediately steered the conversation back.

The earlier commotion had distracted everyone, and they’d really forgotten about this matter. Now that David Turner brought it up again, everyone suddenly realized and once more cast disdainful glances at William Clark.

William Clark smiled faintly and said, “Actually, the Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python is a variant of the Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python. The Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python is common, but the Seven-Colored one is rare. Snakes are generally yin in nature, so most are poisonous with yin energy, but a few variants can become yang in nature, and the Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python is one of them. In appearance, it’s not much different from the Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python. The reason it’s called the Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python is because there’s a seven-colored flower on its skin, seven inches from the head.”

“The Flowing Cloud Python is large, and when this warrior faced it head-on, he couldn’t possibly see the seven-colored flower at the seven-inch mark, so naturally he couldn’t tell the difference between the two. However, the poisons of these two beasts are different: one is yin poison, the other is yang poison. If you use the method for dispelling yin poison to treat yang poison, you’ll only harm this warrior.”

As soon as William Clark finished, Eleanor Brooks frowned.

William Clark’s explanation sounded plausible, with no apparent flaws. If this man was indeed afflicted with yang poison, then Eleanor Brooks’s treatment would have truly harmed him.

But William Clark’s abilities were well known to him. How could he know of a beast that even Eleanor Brooks had never heard of? Even if he did, how could he tell that the poison in this man was different from that of the Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python?

“Hmph, even if there is such a thing as the Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python, why are the symptoms of his poisoning exactly the same as those from the Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python?” Eleanor Brooks snorted coldly.

William Clark replied with a smile, “What’s so strange about that? The Seven-Colored and Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Pythons are of the same lineage, so their symptoms after poisoning are naturally very similar. But only very similar. Warrior, try pressing seven inches below your armpit.”

The burly man looked confused, but seeing Eleanor Brooks nod, he measured and pressed the spot seven inches below his armpit.

He didn’t use much force, but his face immediately twisted in pain, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

As soon as the blood hit the ground, a foul stench filled the air, making everyone feel dizzy and nauseous—it was clearly highly toxic.

“This…” Eleanor Brooks was greatly astonished. The poison of the Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python was not uncommon, so he had diagnosed it quickly. But as far as he knew, its poison would never cause such a reaction.

The Seven-Evil Flowing Cloud Python’s poison was potent, but nowhere near this fierce.

William Clark frowned slightly and ordered, “Someone, clean this up.”

Normally, no one would have responded to his command. But given the current situation, two servant boys immediately came in to tidy up.

These people were clearly used to handling such things and quickly cleaned the floor.

Eleanor Brooks’s expression shifted uncertainly. Finally, he took a deep breath and said, “Will, in your opinion, how should the poison of the Seven-Colored Flowing Cloud Python be treated?”

By saying this, he was indirectly admitting his earlier misdiagnosis. But with so many people present, he couldn’t possibly apologize to a junior, so he phrased it more tactfully.

Moreover, his way of addressing William Clark had subtly changed; this “Will” sounded much more intimate. Given his status, he was entitled to use it.

Even so, his words still caused quite a stir among the crowd.
