Chapter 7

“You’re Henry Foster, right!”

“Yes, I am. May I ask who you are? I don’t think I know you!” Henry Foster asked suspiciously, as he didn’t recognize the person in front of him.

“Heh, my name is David Bennett, I’m Emily Bennett’s older brother. If it’s convenient, let’s go over there and have a chat.”

Henry Foster glanced around and noticed some students were watching him and David Bennett. After all, this Range Rover parked downstairs was really eye-catching, and it wasn’t a good place to talk. Plus, the identity the other party revealed made it hard for him to refuse. The two of them quickly walked toward a corner.

Emily Bennett, Henry Foster’s current girlfriend—they had been together since their freshman year. Thinking back to his first meeting with Emily Bennett, a gentle smile unconsciously appeared at the corner of his mouth.

He first met Emily Bennett in the cafeteria. He was there to buy breakfast for his roommates who had stayed up all night gaming. A girl approached from the opposite direction, wearing a miniskirt and, like him, carrying a large bag of breakfast. Her delicate and refined face stood out in the crowd, drawing the attention of all the boys in the cafeteria. Her long hair flowed as she walked, her short skirt fluttered, and her snow-white legs were mesmerizing.

“Boss, give me four bowls of lotus seed porridge!” The girl stepped past Henry Foster and went to the cafeteria window, speaking to the staff inside. Her voice was crisp, like jade beads falling onto a plate, or a yellow oriole singing in a secluded valley, with the unique softness of a Jiangnan girl.

“There’s no more lotus seed porridge. The last two bowls were just bought by the student behind you,” the staff replied.

Hearing this, the girl turned around, her gem-like clear eyes fixed on Henry Foster, a charming smile appearing on her face. Her red lips parted slightly:

“Hello, I’m Emily Bennett. Could you do me a favor?”

Chapter 4: Never Give Up

“Hello, Emily Bennett, I’m Henry Foster. Is there anything I can help you with?” Henry Foster was a bit flattered. He couldn’t believe such a beautiful girl would call out to him. At that moment, he could almost feel the waves of murderous intent coming from behind him—the naked jealousy of the other boys.

“Foster, I really like lotus seed porridge. I got up late today, and the cafeteria has already sold out. You bought two bowls—could you sell me one?” Emily Bennett asked straightforwardly, her smile undiminished.

“Actually, I don’t really drink lotus seed porridge. It’s just that there was no mung bean porridge today, so I bought lotus seed porridge instead. Since you like it, you can have both bowls.” Henry Foster handed the bag with two bowls of lotus seed porridge to Emily Bennett, completely forgetting what the dorm leader had asked him to do.

“Hey, fourth, I love lotus seed porridge the most. Don’t forget to bring me two bowls when you go to the cafeteria.”

“Thank you so much, Foster.” Emily Bennett squinted her beautiful eyes as she took the bag from Henry Foster. After thinking for a moment, a sly glint flashed in her eyes. She took a basket of small steamed buns from the bag and said, “Let’s trade—take these buns. I don’t really like them anyway.”

...

“Fourth, didn’t I ask you to buy me lotus seed porridge? Why did you bring back a basket of buns?”

“I was late, the lotus seed porridge was sold out. Be glad you have buns to eat—don’t be so picky.” Henry Foster took a bite of a meat bun, washed it down with soy milk, and replied without looking back.

“Hey, sis, the small buns are sold out today. I got an extra bowl of lotus seed porridge—do you want it?” Meanwhile, Emily Bennett returned to the girls’ dorm and called out to a girl who was doing her makeup.

“That fast? Did all the animals at school turn vegetarian today?”

...

That was his first encounter with Emily Bennett. Later, after they got together, every time they talked about it, they couldn’t help but laugh. Emily Bennett would always stick out her tongue playfully and say, “You looked just like a fool back then!”

He met Emily Bennett again at a dorm mixer. The leader of Henry Foster’s dorm and the leader of Emily Bennett’s dorm turned out to be from the same hometown. After some discussion between the two “bosses,” they decided to have a dorm mixer. In reality, it was just the boys treating the girls to a meal, getting to know each other, and seeing if anyone hit it off.

Henry Foster still remembered how surprised he was to see Emily Bennett again. She was wearing a white dress, her long hair flowing, and her pretty face sizing up the four guys from Henry Foster’s dorm. When her gaze landed on Henry Foster, she smiled so warmly it felt like a spring breeze.

Henry Foster’s heart skipped several beats. Just as he was about to greet her, he noticed Emily Bennett winking at him, signaling him not to reveal that they already knew each other.

With such a beautiful girl present, the guys in Henry Foster’s dorm were all excited. Actually, Emily Bennett’s three roommates were also quite attractive—above average, really—but they were overshadowed by Emily Bennett’s radiance.

The atmosphere at the table was great. Henry Foster’s roommates, eager to impress the girls, accepted every toast. Before long, the second and third guys were already down for the count. The dorm leader saw this and thought, “This won’t do—how can the enemy have no casualties while our side is wiped out?”

So next, the leader showed the cunning of a southerner and fully embraced guerrilla tactics. He managed to get three of the girls drunk before finally collapsing himself. As he went down, he patted Henry Foster on the shoulder and said earnestly:
