Volume One: I Want to Be Emperor

Chapter 1: The Prince

Henry Lewis sat cross-legged on his couch, both hands held up as if supporting something. If someone were to look closely at this moment, they would notice faint golden specks of light slowly gathering from all directions, converging above his head. The subtle points of light gradually merged, forming a vague golden dragon. After circling for a while, it dove into his body through the Baihui acupoint at the top of his head.

As the golden dragon entered his body, a hazy golden glow flashed across his face, but it vanished in an instant. He then withdrew his hands from the supporting gesture, bringing them to rest at his dantian. With each breath, a thin golden thread seemed to flicker between his palms. After more than half an hour, the thread gradually disappeared, and only then did the cross-legged Henry Lewis open his eyes.

"Sigh~"

Letting out a long sigh, Henry Lewis remained seated, casually waving his hand. Although a crackling sound rang out, Henry Lewis felt no joy at all.

"I've been cultivating for years, and I haven't even laid the foundation. What rotten luck!" He shook his head, looking helpless. "I thought I could use the emperor's dragon energy this time to restore my cultivation, but who would have thought I'd arrive at the end of a dynasty, with the dragon energy almost completely dissipated? After all these years, I can't even form a dragon egg, let alone a young dragon."

"At this rate, who knows how many years or months it will take to recover my cultivation? Looks like there's only one path left."

He glanced at the couch he was sitting on and patted the somewhat hard bedboard, feeling endless nostalgia for the soft beds he used to sleep on.

"I'm not asking for those marvelous treasures I collected in the past—even a Simmons mattress would be a thousand times more comfortable than this!"

Henry Lewis had originally been an ordinary young man living in a modern city. Somehow, he inexplicably became a member of the transmigrators, and ended up in a world where one could cultivate immortal arts.

In his own words, he had entered a world of cultivation. Knowing this was a tremendous opportunity, Henry Lewis naturally refused to let it slip by. He trained desperately and strove to climb higher. Over time, he actually achieved some success, and even established a vast enterprise with some companions—founding a nation where cultivation civilization was extremely advanced.

But the ending was far from perfect. Henry Lewis, who thought he was the protagonist, eventually discovered he had become the "Old Man of the Mountain" waiting for the real protagonist. He was stabbed in the back by his companions, and if he hadn't sacrificed all his cultivation to tear open space and escape to who-knows-where, even his last wisp of soul wouldn't have survived.

But escaping with his soul didn't mean he was safe. With only a wisp of soul left, Henry Lewis had very few options if he wanted to survive. Fortunately, after breaking through space, he ended up somewhere inhabited, so he chose to rebuild his physical body.

This method isn't hard to understand: it's simply taking advantage of the moment when a man and woman are "doing the deed," and using the purest yin-yang energy to condense a new body. It's much like reincarnation, but with the convenience of choosing one's own parents.

He looked around, then judged the time by the light coming through the window. It was just past noon. He had chosen this time to cultivate because the gathering of the emperor's dragon energy was too conspicuous, and the midday sun made it less likely to be discovered.

Getting off the couch, he touched his stomach. Although his cultivation hadn't even reached the foundation stage, it wasn't without benefits. Since he had been cultivating since the womb, his physical constitution was far superior to ordinary people. More importantly, his body could fully absorb and utilize food, saving him a lot of trouble—especially since, for relieving himself, he only had bamboo sticks to use.

So he didn't need to eat much on a daily basis, and lunchtime was just right for cultivation. He simply told his attendants he was taking a nap and not to disturb him.

He got up and stretched, then called out toward the bedroom door, "Attend me!"

Before his voice had faded, he heard the orderly sound of footsteps. When he turned his head, several people were already standing by. One young man stepped forward and respectfully asked, "Does Your Highness wish to eat something?"

This youth was a eunuch, surnamed Cao, with the single given name Bao. The name itself wasn't unusual, but when read together, it always made Henry Lewis want to laugh.

Especially when he thought of those ancient dramas from his former life in the steel city, where the powerful addressed eunuchs—he could hardly suppress his amusement.

As a result, every time Henry Lewis saw this little eunuch, he wore a smile. Others thought he was especially fond of the boy, so they assigned him as Henry Lewis's personal attendant.

Naturally, Henry Lewis had no objection to this—especially after he accidentally learned that this little eunuch was connected to a truly formidable figure, which made him all the more pleased.
