Chapter 19

Creak, creak—

The old bed was being shaken by Henry Blake as if it were about to fall apart.

While speaking, he kept exchanging glances with the young woman, signaling her to cooperate.

But the young woman was quite stubborn, clenching her teeth tightly, her fingers digging into her collar, refusing to open her mouth. Two lines of tears even rolled down from the corners of her eyes.

Although the young woman didn’t cooperate at all, Henry Blake's acting was truly superb. After a round of performance, he still managed to fool the officers outside the door, and hushed whispers could be heard:

“Doing this kind of thing in broad daylight, really... The bed’s shaking like it’s about to break, pretty wild.”

“The woman sure can hold it in, not making a sound.”

“Who dares to cry out in broad daylight... So what do we do now?”

“Hmm... It must be a diversion by the thief! Come on, let’s go in and check...”

“Let’s go, let’s go...”

With that, they started running even faster!

?!

Both people inside the room were stunned!

Henry Blake had just breathed a sigh of relief, but upon hearing this, he nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. He didn’t know whether to say the constables were too clever or just shameless—did they really have to barge in for a closer look?!

But Henry Blake was thorough in his act. He had already pulled down his outer robe, revealing his sturdy shoulders and back, and quickly embraced the woman beneath him.

The moment he touched her, it felt like holding a jade doll, a subtle fragrance wafting to his nose. Only then did Henry Blake understand what “soft jade in one’s arms” truly meant.

The young woman was held tightly, and seeing the constables enter, her resistance lessened a bit, but she still didn’t cooperate well. Flustered, she tried to curl her hands in front of her, but couldn’t because they were pinned down, so she just did her best to support herself against Henry Blake, not even knowing to wrap her arms around his neck.

Henry Blake had just thought this woman was ungrateful, but now he realized she truly didn’t know how to cooperate, not at all like someone experienced—she was even more clueless than a greenhorn.

There was no time to ponder further. He pulled the quilt over both of them, exposing only his own shoulders and arms, using his face to block the woman’s features, and continued shaking the bed.

Bang—

The door was kicked open.

Two constables, each wielding an official saber, burst into the room with righteous vigor, eyes wide as they stared at the bed.

“Ah!”

This time, the young woman wasn’t so slow. Leaning close to Henry Blake's ear, she let out a rather convincing scream, nearly deafening him.

You wretched woman! Why scream so loudly at a time like this?!

Henry Blake's eardrums throbbed in pain, a nameless anger rising in his heart. But his expression fit the situation perfectly. He held the woman tightly, turned his head, and glared angrily at the door:

“Who?!... Eh? Sirs, what are you doing here?”

The two constables scanned the room carefully, seeing that the quilt covered everything tightly, with nothing visible but hair. Clearly disappointed.

But their expressions remained stern and righteous:

“This afternoon, a thief broke into the Black Yamen. We’re conducting a routine inspection. Why are you two hiding here? Did you see anyone suspicious just now?”

Broke into the Black Yamen?

Henry Blake was startled—he hadn’t expected this woman to be so capable.

But there was no time to think it over. He carefully pulled over his outer robe, fumbled in the sleeve, and produced the rental contract written by the landlord, tossing it to the constable, putting on a look of anger he dared not voice:

“Sir, I just moved in yesterday. Do I look like someone who’d see a thief?”

The constable didn’t think so either. One of them took the contract, checked it, and after confirming they were regular residents, found something to nitpick:

“It’s not even dark yet, and you’re doing this at home...”

The other constable waved his hand: “Forget it, it’s pouring outside and the place is bare. What else is there to do but bully your wife? Let’s go.”

With that, he tossed the contract onto the bed, turned, and left, even closing the door behind him.

Henry Blake was about to get up, but noticed the two had only walked a few steps before stopping, standing completely still.

Looks like these two weren’t fools—lecherous, but still cautious.

The young woman noticed this too. She looked up at Henry Blake, her icy face showing a hint of complexity. Though she didn’t say anything, her eyes clearly meant—keep going.

Henry Blake saw those beautiful eyes signaling him to “put in more effort,” and felt a bit odd. He played along:

“Damn, what a mood killer. Wife, did I scare you?”

“No, husband... you...”

The young woman was about to cooperate, when she suddenly felt a rush of heat at her collar, an indescribable sensation overwhelming her mind.

?!

Her eyes instantly filled with shame and anger. Afraid outsiders would hear any indecent sounds, she forcibly held back her words, glaring at Henry Blake!

Why don’t you cry out? Why are you looking at me?

Henry Blake was baffled, shook the little watermelon in his hand, and mouthed:

“Are you trying to get us killed? Don’t you know how to act? Just make a few noises!”

The young woman, trembling with shame and anger, grabbed Henry Blake's hand, opened her mouth, and mouthed:

“Lecher! Move your hand first!”

Henry Blake didn’t believe she could act flawlessly without his help. Helpless, he could only keep shaking the bed and continued muttering lewd lines to himself:

“Can’t get enough, huh? If you want it, just say so. Why be so shy... so repressed...”

Chapter 10: Shameless Little Thief

Creak, creak—

In the small courtyard of a secluded alley, the sound of old wood straining under weight continued.
