Chapter 12

“Ahem, Lily, you’re eating my food and drinking my drinks, can you not act like this?” Little White quickly waved his hand. Being the youngest, he was always the easiest target for teasing.

A group of mischievous friends immediately chimed in, but luckily Lily Walker still gave Little White some face. There were plenty of girls who played League of Legends, but not many who had loved games since childhood.

“What champions do you like to use? Annie, Lux, or Teemo?” David Thompson asked curiously. These were the standard picks for girls—not necessarily strong, but at least cute.

“It doesn’t matter what I use, you guys can carry me, I’ll just ride along for the win,” Samuel Reed said. He was actually holding back a lot today.

“Lee Sin, Kha’Zix, I guess. Rek’Sai is pretty good this patch too.” Lily Walker said with a smile, picking up a piece of beef tripe. “This is delicious.”

The table fell silent for a moment, only Evan White seemed unfazed. “If you like it, eat more. Chinese restaurants in America can’t compare to our authentic ones.”

“What rank are you?” John Foster asked timidly. Anyone who could say things like that definitely wasn’t a newbie.

“Platinum III on NA server, mainly play jungle. You’re talking about Riot Games, right? I’ve been there, it’s awesome. After graduation, I’m thinking of applying for a job there.”

The four guys looked at each other—are North American girls all this fierce? NA is one of the top five regions in the world, and always ahead in patches. Not only is she this pretty, but she’s also this good at the game.

Bro, it’s tough when you don’t even get a chance.

Suddenly, Samuel Reed slapped his thigh, “Awesome! Lily, how about joining our team and fighting in the city tournament together? I knew it was a lucky day when I heard squirrels chirping this morning—we need a jungler!”

There were always squirrels on the Hu Zheng campus, super cute, and basically the school’s mascot.

“Hey, didn’t you go look for Alice Green this afternoon?”

“Don’t mention it. Alice Green already has a team. No matter how much I tried, it was useless. What he said before doesn’t count anymore, now—”

Samuel Reed and John Foster stared eagerly at Lily Walker.

Bang! Samuel Reed gave David Thompson a hard slap.

“Old Thompson, Little White, stop eating! The pro is right in front of us, hurry up and invite her!”

David Thompson looked up and swallowed his luncheon meat. “Do you solo queue or duo queue?”

There’s a lot to this. Many girls have high ranks, but most got carried up by their boyfriends and don’t have much real skill. Little Hazel’s Silver rank was all thanks to Samuel Reed, and her backwards Lux ult was standard practice.

Samuel Reed quickly winked from the side—dude, can you not kill the vibe? No wonder you’re still single.

“Solo queue, no problem. I’m really interested in this too. What ranks are you all? Let’s get to know each other’s skill level before assigning roles.” As soon as they talked about this, Lily Walker got excited too, which made everyone even more hyped—finally, a common topic.

“Let me introduce myself: Black Rose Gold I, ID: Da Sima, ADC. Give me a good support and I can shoot through the earth.”

“Black Rose Gold III, ID: Zhuge Divine Hook, support. I’m Zhuge Liang, always tricking Samuel Reed.”

As soon as these two jokers started, the whole table burst out laughing. The two of them stared at each other like frogs, then their chopsticks landed on the same piece of beef at the same time.

“Never played.” Little White raised his hand helplessly. “I’ll wait for you four teachers to pass on your martial arts secrets.”

“Mainly play normals and team games, probably about King rank.” An awkward voice sounded.

Everyone was stunned, then immediately started roasting him—even Lily Walker couldn’t help but laugh. The Chinese server is super competitive, one of the top regions. Even being King in a remote area is impressive. But someone who’s never played ranked and still claims to be King?

Samuel Reed sighed inwardly—bro, even with a pretty girl here, you can’t brag like that. Not playing ranked but claiming King? What kind of logic is that?

But brothers are brothers. Samuel Reed gave a look everyone understood—pretty girl present, David Thompson just wanted to show off a bit, let him have his moment.

“Alright, Mr. Thompson, you’re awesome. We’ll count on you from now on.”

“Come on, let’s toast to our King!”

David Thompson was helpless too. Back in the day, it was all about ranked points, not as straightforward. He rushed to over 2,000 points in just over a month, but since he was on contract, he felt a bit guilty and didn’t dare push further. Once the tier system came out, it got even crazier—clear steps from Bronze to King, like the glory of Gold Saints and Bronze Saints. But David Thompson was even more hesitant to climb. All the data was public, and if Eric Bennett found out, it wouldn’t be good. After all, he was from Hu Zheng, and he still had a bit of integrity left. He just played team games quietly, much more low-key.

“Now that we have five people, there’s still one tricky problem,” Samuel Reed looked around at everyone, “and that’s coming up with a cool name for our team.”

“Bronze Five Warriors,” John Foster suggested. “I’ll be Hyoga for sure.”

Everyone rolled their eyes. Is there a Hyoga this chubby?

“What do you mean, what’s with those looks? I’m just a little chubby!” John Foster glared at everyone angrily.

“No, no, that’s not imposing enough. I think ‘Strongest King Team’ sounds more badass.”

“You won’t think that when you’re getting stomped.”

“Mr. Thompson, Little White, Lily, you guys give some ideas too.”

“I don’t mind, I’ll go with whatever everyone decides.” Lily Walker said with a smile.
