Chapter 11

Afterwards, Stephen Blake introduced the three Thousand-Man Commanders and Edward Grant. Mr. Brooks once again showered them with praise and flattery, making everyone beam with joy. This man was a master of eloquence, and what was even more remarkable was that the things he praised were always the proudest achievements of others—real events, not made up—so his words seemed especially sincere, making it impossible for anyone to feel even a trace of dislike.

“Today is the first time you all have graced my Drunken Moon Pavilion. I have no other talents, but I especially love making friends, especially with heroes like you. Today, your bill is on me—drink as much as you want, eat your fill, and let’s not leave until we’re all drunk.”

“In that case, we must trouble you with the expense.” Brian Cooper’s expression had improved considerably by now. It seemed that everyone liked to hear flattery, and his impression of Mr. Brooks had gotten much better.

“Please enjoy yourselves, I’ll go make some arrangements.” Mr. Brooks cupped his hands and left with a smile.

The group of seven sat around a large round table, and as soon as Mr. Brooks left, the dishes were served in no time. They had barely finished their first cup when Mr. Brooks returned, this time with seven stunning beauties in tow.

Everyone stood up, exchanged polite refusals, and sat down again. This time, except for Mr. Brooks, each person had a beautiful woman by their side to pour their wine.

It was Henry Sutton’s first time experiencing such an occasion. He tried to remain calm while discreetly observing the others. He saw that everyone was at ease, chatting and laughing. Some, like Stephen Blake, seemed quite familiar with the woman beside them, already getting handsy as if no one else was present. The woman blushed deeply, half resisting, half yielding. Everyone else pretended not to notice, focusing on flirting with the woman next to them.

Likewise, it was Edward Grant’s first time here, but he showed no sign of nervousness, chatting happily with the woman beside him.

“Sir, you’ve come from afar. Please allow me to offer you a toast.”

A pair of delicate, fair hands holding a translucent glass appeared before Henry Sutton’s eyes. Henry Sutton looked up to see the woman beside him, lightly made up, her expressive eyes gazing at him with a soul-stealing charm. Among all the women present, her beauty was outstanding—only the woman beside Brian Cooper could compare, while the other five were a notch below.

The most beautiful woman Henry Sutton had ever seen was the second daughter of Master Xu’s family in his village, Ru Xian, the acknowledged beauty of their town—someone he could only admire from afar. To be honest, the woman before him seemed even more beautiful than Ru Xian, and in terms of dress and demeanor, Ru Xian couldn’t even come close.

Henry Sutton didn’t dare look for long. He quickly raised his glass, clinked it, and drank it down in one gulp.

“Pfft…” Seeing Henry Sutton’s slightly awkward manner, the woman smiled gently, lighting up the whole room and making Henry Sutton’s heart race wildly.

“You seem unfamiliar, sir. My name is Vivian. May I ask your name?”

“So it’s Miss Vivian. I am Henry Sutton.”

“Mr. Xu, it seems you rarely come here. Judging by your accent, you’re not a local, are you?” Vivian picked up the wine pot and filled both Henry Sutton’s and her own cup with fine wine as she asked.

“That’s right, it’s my first time in a place like this.” Henry Sutton blurted out, then realized and coughed twice, unable to say more. Seeing Vivian looking at him with a half-smile, he felt even more embarrassed.

Fortunately, Vivian spoke up right away, easing the awkwardness: “Then it must be fate that we meet, sir. Allow me to toast you again.”

At this moment, the private room door opened again, and two servants pushed in a wine cart.

Mr. Brooks stood up, bowed to everyone, and said with a beaming smile, “Ladies and gentlemen, the good wine has arrived! This is Drunken Moon Wine, which I specially had brought from my other estate. It’s the signature wine of this establishment. Please enjoy to your heart’s content. I have some business to attend to, so I’ll excuse myself for now.”

“Oh my, this Old Brooks is being so generous today—he’s really going all out.” After Mr. Brooks left, Stephen Blake exclaimed in surprise.

Brian Cooper looked at the three wine jars on the cart and nodded, “I had it once when I came here three years ago. It truly is a top-quality wine.” A strange smile appeared on his face. “This wine has another special use, which you’ll all experience soon.”

As soon as he said this, except for Stephen Blake, who showed the same lecherous smile, all the women either lowered their heads shyly or spat lightly in protest. Henry Sutton was completely in the dark, but it didn’t seem appropriate to ask.

“General Fang, what’s so special about this wine?” It was Edward Grant, ever straightforward, who asked directly.

Brian Cooper laughed heartily, “Alright, I won’t keep you guessing. This Drunken Moon Wine is said to be brewed with a secret recipe. Besides being strong, it has an effect that every man dreams of.”

With that, and considering the nature of this place, everyone suddenly understood, exchanging glances—everything was clear without words.

“There’s a main ingredient in this wine that none of you could guess.” Stephen Blake suddenly put down his chopsticks and said mysteriously.

Immediately, everyone’s curiosity was piqued, and several pairs of eyes stared at him, eager for him to reveal it. Fortunately, Stephen Blake quickly obliged and told them.
