The area at the bottom of the cave wasn’t large, only about a hundred square meters or so, and William Carter walked across it in just a few steps. He desperately tried to find an exit, or some kind of hidden door mechanism, but after searching for a long time, he discovered that every inch here was solid ice. There was nothing behind the ice either—no stone or soil—just ice, from the inside out, every inch of it.
“Oh god, how am I supposed to get out of here? There’s not even anything to eat in this damned place. In just a few days, I’ll starve to death.” William Carter slumped down onto the icy ground in despair, completely naked and without even a phone on him. But even if he had a phone, there probably wouldn’t be any signal.
Right after, William Carter forced himself to stand up again and shouted loudly toward the outside, “Is anyone there? Help! Is there anyone out there?”
He shouted dozens of times, but not even a single bird or animal appeared at the cave entrance.
William Carter sat back down, leaning against an ice pillar.
“I wonder how Emily is doing. Did I burn her to death?” William Carter thought sadly of his sexy and formidable girlfriend, who was also his English teacher.
Afterward, still unwilling to give up, he searched around the cave again, wondering if maybe Emily had crossed over to this place with him.
Obviously, the entire cave was empty—there was no way Emily Thompson could be here.
“Dad, look at the ridiculous name you gave me. It’s way too overbearing—I really can’t handle it.” William Carter thought of his Jin Yong-fanatic father and his fierce, formidable mother. By now, they probably already knew about William Carter’s death, and he wondered how sad they must be.
William Carter looked up at the cave entrance and sighed, “This damned cave, how am I supposed to get out of here?”
Suddenly, a blinding light appeared. The sun seemed to be directly above the cave entrance, and William Carter could barely look at it, squinting his eyes.
Then, William Carter’s eyes flew wide open and his whole body jolted, because he saw an incredibly shocking—no, terrifying—scene that made him jump to his feet.
There were two suns in the sky. Two suns!
William Carter thought he was seeing things, or maybe hallucinating, so he rubbed his eyes hard to see clearly.
No mistake—there really were two suns, one big and one small. One was blindingly bright, the other just a bit less so!
Oh god, this isn’t Earth. There’s only one sun on Earth, but here there are two. So, what the hell is this place? Another planet? Another world?
Did I transmigrate? Did I really transmigrate?
William Carter’s body went limp and he slumped back down onto the icy ground, his head spinning so badly he nearly fainted.
Other people transmigrate by getting electrocuted, or in a tsunami, or struck by lightning. Most commonly, it’s a plane crash. But only he, William Carter, managed to transmigrate by spontaneous combustion during sex in bed. This way of transmigrating was truly unprecedented.
Dad, look at the ridiculous name you gave your son! William Carter, William Carter, such a mighty and domineering name—I really can’t handle it. It sent me straight to another world!
……
“Goodbye, Mom and Dad. Goodbye, friends. Goodbye, Earth!”
“Mom and Dad, don’t be too sad. You’re not that old yet—maybe you can have another child.”
“Emily, you probably got burned to death by me too. I guess we’re a pair of star-crossed lovers.”
William Carter leaned against the ice pillar in the center of the cave, finally accepting the reality that he had transmigrated to another world. He reminisced about his past, fighting back tears.
“No, I can’t just wallow in self-pity like this. In novels, people who transmigrate always accomplish great things. I can’t just transmigrate and then die a pathetic death of starvation in this cave, can I?” William Carter suddenly stood up. He had to find a way out.
But after struggling for several hours, he hadn’t managed to climb even half a foot. The ice was just too slippery and too hard—there was nothing he could do. Then he searched everywhere for a way out, but still found nothing.
During these hours, his emotions had swung from shock to despair, and after struggling for so long, he was completely exhausted. He returned to the center of the cave, leaned against an ice pillar, and rested for a while before thinking of another plan.
He had only meant to rest for a bit, but he was so tired that he actually drifted off to sleep.
It was lucky that he had a one-in-a-billion Nine Yang body, with yang energy accumulated over decades. Even when he spontaneously combusted during sex with Emily Thompson on Earth, only a small part of it was released. Now, lying naked in this extremely cold ice cave, he only felt a slight chill and wouldn’t freeze to death.
He didn’t know how long he slept, but William Carter was eventually woken up by hunger. Because of his special constitution, his need for food was much greater than other people’s. After going hungry for dozens of hours, he was already in unbearable pain.
But in this damned ice cave, there was nothing but ice—let alone anything to eat.
William Carter stood up and saw that there were two suns at the cave entrance again. Had he slept for a whole day and night? He just didn’t know if a day and night in this world was 24 hours.
After standing up, William Carter suddenly noticed something strange about the ice pillar behind him.
