Chapter 20

Of course, just one session of horse stance is naturally not enough to fully convert all the abundant vital energy and blood. If William Carter wants to achieve something, he will need to work even harder in the future.

After eating in the kitchen, William Carter went to Old Craftsman's forging room.

Although Old Craftsman had taken on the task of forging weapons for Ethan Brooks, he still had no problem giving William Carter some guidance on weapon control during his free time.

Upon seeing William Carter, Old Craftsman asked in detail about the process of meeting Ethan Brooks today, and said, “You did well. Being able to satisfy General Brooks is a good thing.” After a pause, he continued, “Since it’s General Brooks’s order, for the next ten days you’ll do horse stance in the morning and practice weaponry in the afternoon.”

William Carter agreed, and under Old Craftsman’s supervision and watchful eye, he released his weaponry and began practicing those tedious yet lengthy basic skills.

This time, using his weaponry, William Carter made a new discovery: the consumption of weaponry was not limited to physical strength and mental power. The mysterious energy he had cultivated during horse stance today could also provide energy for his weaponry. Moreover, to his delight, the efficiency of this energy seemed to be much greater than that of physical strength.

If he possessed more of this energy, wouldn’t that mean he could persist for even longer?

At this thought, William Carter became even more eager and motivated to train in martial arts.

While training diligently, time seemed to fly by. In the blink of an eye, ten days had passed.

During these ten days, what William Carter worried about most was that Brian Bolton might have found some evidence or clues and would come after him to avenge Grace Bolton. However, for some reason, Brian Bolton remained inactive, and he hadn’t heard anything about Grace Bolton’s disappearance.

It was as if Grace Bolton had never appeared at all.

Although he knew there was something strange about this, as long as it didn’t involve him, William Carter was already quite content.

Ten days later, he went to the west camp again and met with Ethan Brooks.

Ethan Brooks looked him up and down and said in surprise, “Kid, you’ve been training well these past few days. But…” He frowned slightly and said, “Have you not been eating enough?”

William Carter was taken aback, puzzled by the question.

He quickly replied, “General, I’ve been eating well!”

Ethan Brooks shook his head and said, “Your vital energy and blood have weakened a lot. This won’t do. You need to replenish your nutrition, or you won’t be able to keep up with your training progress, and it’ll do more harm than good.”

William Carter was stunned for a moment and said, “Thank you, General.”

Reflecting on his training over the past few days, he also felt a sense of realization.

Although every time he did horse stance, the flow of energy would always strengthen him a bit, the growth in the last few days was far less than in the earlier days.

If he hadn’t compared it to the earlier days, William Carter would have been quite satisfied. But for someone used to lavish feasts, suddenly switching to plain vegetables and tofu—how could he be content?

With a slight stir in his heart, William Carter vaguely guessed something. However, whether this idea was true or not, he would have to find a way to prove it.

In front of Ethan Brooks, William Carter did another hour of horse stance training. Ethan Brooks looked at him oddly and said, “I still have some top-quality ingredients here. I’ll have someone send them to you later. You… train for another ten days.”

William Carter replied reluctantly and took his leave.

Ethan Brooks shook his head, puzzled. This kid’s training results over the past ten days were quite obvious—he had completely stabilized his energy. This was the result of just ten days, truly worthy of being called a genius. But for some reason, the overflowing vitality that William Carter once had had disappeared, which left Ethan Brooks somewhat perplexed.

He ordered the precious ingredients to be sent over, just to do what he could. If William Carter couldn’t regain that state of abundant energy and blood, it would be very difficult for him to make further progress.

William Carter left the military camp and went to Old Craftsman’s forging room.

Along the way, he thought about many things, and a rather terrifying thought emerged in his mind.

Could it be that his so-called state of abundant energy and blood was because of that day?

The moment he thought of Grace Bolton’s strange disappearance in front of him, he felt a chill in his heart. If possible, he would absolutely never want to repeat that process.

However, after the life-and-death battle with Grace Bolton, he understood even more that without enough power to protect himself, he was just meat on the chopping block, ready to be slaughtered at any time.

But now, wanting to master martial arts was not something that could be achieved in a day. Before he could protect himself through martial arts, he had to have other means or identities.

Gritting his teeth, William Carter went to Old Craftsman and said, “Old man, I want to learn weapon forging techniques.”

Old Craftsman thought for a moment and said, “Alright, you already have some control over weaponry, so you can start learning.”

Although William Carter had already used weaponry to repair some weapons and achieved results that even satisfied Old Craftsman, repairing weapons and forging weapons were two completely different things.
