Chapter 8

April 5th, after class, Ryan Carter called out to play basketball. Grace Bennett felt that he had been staying up late a lot recently, his body was a bit weak, and he should exercise more, so he joined the team as well.

After playing, they were drenched in sweat and felt exhilarated. Grace Bennett, Ryan Carter, and Edward Harris headed back to the dorm together. As soon as they entered, they saw William Clark holding his phone with an excited look on his face.

“Third bro, why didn’t you answer when I called you?” William Clark asked excitedly.

“You called me?”

Grace Bennett took out his phone and saw that there were indeed seven or eight missed calls, all from William Clark.

“We were playing ball, left our phones by the court. The ringtone was probably too quiet, so we didn’t hear it.”

William Clark jumped up, rushed over, and almost shoved the screen right into Grace Bennett’s face. “It’s gone viral! Take a look, just this afternoon, it’s completely blown up!”

Chapter 006: Blowing Up the Whole Internet!

“The latest iPhone, bought for thirteen thousand, but if I can’t reach Wushuang, what’s the point!”

Splash~

The expensive phone was thrown into the bathtub, slowly sinking down.

“MacBook, twenty-six thousand, but without a photo of Wushuang, what’s the use of keeping it!”

Splash~

The brand-new laptop also went into the tub, releasing a string of white bubbles.

The man threw out everything in his study, then dashed out the door without looking back, stood in the yard, and roared at the sky, “Wushuang! I can give up everything, as long as I have Wushuang!”

The video ended, and the brothers in dorm 406 were all dumbfounded.

“This guy must be crazy, right?” Ryan Carter shook his head.

“Rich people really are outrageous. If he gave it to me, it’d be a favor, but throwing it away is such a waste.” Edward Harris muttered.

William Clark’s face was flushed with excitement, shaking his phone screen. “Wushuang is viral, and your friend’s website is blowing up too!”

“While we were in class this afternoon, suddenly tons of videos searching for Wushuang popped up on Douyin. Now, if you open Douyin, at least half of every ten videos are about searching for Wushuang.”

“Look, this guy was studying abroad in Germany. After watching Wushuang’s video, he immediately bought a ticket back to China, claiming he won’t return to Germany until he finds Wushuang.”

“And this rich guy bought a thousand roadside billboards to post ads searching for Wushuang. Anyone who can provide information about Wushuang gets a one million yuan reward.”

“This one too, he’s riding a bike with a flag searching for Wushuang, claiming he’ll search all over China!”

Everyone frantically scrolled through their phones, watching short videos about searching for Wushuang.

Ryan Carter shrugged. “These guys are definitely showing off, but after all this, Wushuang is truly famous now. The comment sections are all asking who Wushuang is, and Sky Eye, as the one who discovered Wushuang, is getting a lot of attention too.”

“But I just tried logging into Sky Eye, and it’s super laggy. Took forever to open. Is it a bandwidth issue? Hurry up and apply for more bandwidth and servers—this is a rare opportunity. Maybe with this, Sky Eye will really take off.”

Grace Bennett gave a wry smile. He knew exactly why the site was lagging—it was all because of lack of money.

There were only four basic cloud servers in total. Even though Grace Bennett had optimized and managed the traffic, hardware is like your house: fifty people visiting at once can squeeze in, but if five thousand people show up, even if you knock down the front door, you still can’t fit them all.

The four servers had long been overloaded. Luckily, Grace Bennett was skilled enough—if it were anyone else, trying to support such high traffic with just four servers would have crashed the site instantly.

Even though it wasn’t their own website, as the earliest participants in the Wushuang incident, everyone felt a bit proud. They kept scrolling on their phones, skipped dinner at the cafeteria, and had fourth bro Edward Harris run errands to bring back some food.

William Clark raised his phone, showing the screen to his roommates. “Check this out.”

In the video, a reporter was interviewing a male student on the street. “Excuse me, do you know Wushuang?”

“Yes.” The bespectacled student replied timidly.

“Are you planning to look for her too?”

“I quit my job today and bought a ticket to Hong Kong for tomorrow. What do you think?”

The female reporter was clearly shocked. “No way!”

“Why not? Even an ordinary person has the right to dream. Everyone is searching for Wushuang, so why can’t I?”

“No, I mean, do you know Wushuang lives in Hong Kong?” the reporter quickly clarified.

“No.” The student shook his head. “I bought the ticket at random. I have no idea where to look for Wushuang, but what does it matter? If you have a dream and you’re on the road to pursue it, the point isn’t whether the dream comes true, but that you tried and worked hard for it.”

He was a handsome, refined young man, speaking calmly and philosophically.

The female reporter seemed stunned, her eyes shining as she stared at him. Suddenly, she gathered her courage and blurted out, “I like you! I like the way you think and speak!”

The young man was taken aback, adjusted his glasses, and said, “You’re very beautiful, but you’re not my dream. Sorry.”
