Chapter 7

So aside from Grass-type Pokémon, Ryan Ford also considered other Pokémon.

He picked out a total of three categories of Pokémon.

The first were Grass-type Pokémon suitable for his own training plans, such as Tangela, Oddish, Bellsprout, and so on.

The second were Bug-type Pokémon that could use psychic powers after evolving, like Caterpie, Venonat, Wurmple, etc.

These Bug-type Pokémon were also very easy to raise, and their growth cycle was short. Within a year, they could complete natural evolution and gain a certain level of strength.

Moreover, psychic powers... are a rare ability.

However, it seemed that in reality, Butterfree, Mothim, and Venomoth—these Bug-type Pokémon—rarely mastered psychic powers. Unlike in the games, where they could learn moves just by leveling up, this was a risk. If these Pokémon couldn't use psychic powers, their advantage wouldn't be significant, and Ryan Ford also wasn't confident he could help them develop psychic abilities.

Henry White walked back and forth with the three of them in the spacious room, carefully introducing one Pokémon after another and giving appropriate suggestions.

"This is a Nidoran's Pokémon egg..."

"This is a Meowth's Pokémon egg..."

"This is an Eevee's Pokémon egg..."

"Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon, and Normal-type is also known as the most adaptable attribute."

"Additionally, this is also one of the Pokémon we recommend. Eevee has a gentle temperament, is easy to raise, and it has four evolutionary branches: Electric, Water, Fire, and Grass. After evolving, its strength increases significantly. If you're considering battle results for the college entrance exam, choosing Eevee can maximize your chances of passing."

"We also sell matching evolution stones here. Once Eevee enters its growth phase, you can use them. If you buy them together with the egg now, you can enjoy a 5% discount." Henry White introduced with a smile.

"Eevee, huh..."

Ryan Ford stared intently, not caring about discounts or not—this was the third category of Pokémon he had picked out.

As far as he knew, Eevee had at least eight evolutionary branches.

Currently, the Pokémon League has announced 702 species of Pokémon, but Eevee's other evolutions—Glaceon, Leafeon, Sylveon, and Umbreon—are not among these 702 species... Ryan Ford had already checked a lot of information online to confirm this.

Pokémon have only been integrated into modern society for a few decades, so it's not surprising that all the secrets haven't been fully explored.

Besides Eevee's evolutionary branches, there are other examples.

For instance, Politoed and Slowking have also not been discovered.

The evolution method for Slowpoke is still a mystery.

How Feebas evolves into Milotic also hasn't been revealed.

The secrets unknown to humans are all hidden in ordinary Pokémon, while information about legendary Pokémon has actually been found quite a bit in ancient murals in secret ruins.

……

Eevee's price is actually not expensive. Because of its gentle temperament and unsuitability for battle, it's always been seen as a pet by the public. The expensive part is the evolution stones.

Even the lowest quality evolution stones are several times more expensive than Eevee itself.

Eevee can reproduce, but evolution stones are a non-renewable resource and extremely rare, only produced in secret realms. The monopoly is severe, and each one is sold at a high price. The situation in the anime where people casually give them away definitely wouldn't happen to ordinary folks like Ryan Ford.

This breeding house was clearly also in the evolution stone business. Eevee and evolution stones were undoubtedly sold as a bundle. If a family's finances allowed, most would probably be tempted.

But if everyone thinks Eevee can only become strong by using evolution stones, then Ryan Ford can be sure that Eevee is definitely one of the most underestimated Pokémon!

The potential of Leafeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon—who require other evolution conditions and not evolution stones—is just as great as the other branches.

Maybe it was because Ryan Ford stood in front of the Eevee egg for too long, longer than he had in front of any other egg, that Mr. Ford and Mrs. Ford exchanged glances.

"What do you think of Eevee?" Mr. Ford asked.

"It's good, really good. You could say it's the best choice, but..." Ryan Ford pondered. Compared to Grass-type and Bug-type Pokémon, Eevee was indeed more reliable, easier to raise, gentle in temperament, highly adaptable, and had huge potential. It was seriously underestimated... It seemed like it was just waiting for a lucky person to pick up a bargain.

"Then that's settled. Don't worry about anything else. Our family can afford an evolution stone." Mr. Ford patted Ryan Ford on the shoulder.

Ryan Ford looked up in confusion. That wasn't the reason... Forget it, it's hard to explain. If he chose Eevee, he definitely wouldn't let it evolve into Fire, Electric, Water, Ice, or Grass types. That would be too extravagant.

But Ryan Ford still felt things wouldn't go so smoothly, and explaining to his parents why he chose Eevee would be troublesome...

He simply couldn't say anything about Eevee's other evolutionary branches.

The problem had become the classic "choose one out of three."

Before coming to the breeding house, Ryan Ford hadn't made up his mind, but now that he was here, he couldn't hesitate any longer.

"I want to look around a bit more."

Ryan Ford asked Mr. Henry White to take him around again, especially to take a closer look at the eggs of these three types of Pokémon.

The Bug-types, the Grass-types...
