"Wake Forest Demon Deacons, this should be the one." Eric Turner tapped lightly.
"Ding, main team loaded, confirmed, host Eric Turner has officially taken charge of Wake Forest Demon Deacons, host level +1, dynasty points +100, head coach system unlocked."
Eric Turner was startled again by the sudden voice, but at this moment the electronic interface changed once more, and a new option "Team" appeared on the screen, with "Search" next to it.
Eric Turner continued by clicking on the "Team" option, and under the team menu, three more options appeared: "Players," "Staff," and "Relations." Eric Turner clicked on the staff section.
"Head Coach: Eric Turner, Assistant Coach: Mark Allen, Scout: Bill Lambeau. Have I really become the head coach of this team?"
Eric Turner stared in disbelief at the information displayed on the screen, but soon snapped out of it and began to familiarize himself with the interface, quickly getting the hang of it.
It seemed that the system was not yet complete, with only two functions available, and apparently no modification options—he could only view them.
Finally, Eric Turner clicked on the "Players" section, and soon, five names appeared before his eyes.
"It's him? He's actually a player on this team?" Eric Turner exclaimed in surprise.
Chapter 2 Wake Forest Demon Deacon
Winston-Salem is a city in North Carolina, USA. This city also has another beautiful name—Windsor, as well as a rather rugged nickname, "Camel City," because it is a famous tobacco city, with tobacco as its economic backbone. The name Camel City comes from "Camel" brand cigarettes.
Windsor City isn't big, with only 150,000 residents, but it's not exactly small either; it's the fourth largest city in North Carolina. However, in this small city, there is a private university ranked among the top 30 in the United States—Wake Forest University, Wake Forest University.
It was now early June. March Madness of the NCAA had ended, and all NCAA teams were in the off-season. There were still more than five months before the next season began. Some senior players from Wake Forest University had already left the team, so currently, Wake Forest Demon Deacons had only five players left: one freshman, two sophomores, and two juniors.
Eric Turner was the official coach of the Wake Forest Basketball Team. He lived in a special apartment provided by the school, very close to the team's gym. Eric Turner got up very early in the morning, eager to go see the players under his charge.
The Wake Forest University Basketball Team had always been a powerhouse in the NCAA. This year, they even made it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, so this team was also the star team of Wake Forest University. The school provided excellent support in all aspects.
"Tim, I really don't know what you're holding out for. If I were you, I'd definitely enter the draft this year. You're the hot favorite for the number one pick right now."
"Stephen Grant, if you're in such a hurry, why don't you go yourself?"
"Me? Tim, don't joke around. I've already given up. You and Randolph Smith are the Demon Deacon with the best shot at making it to the NBA. Randolph Smith is already trying out with the Pistons, but you're still stuck here in this little Windsor City. The Warriors have been calling for you for over a month now."
"I don't care." Tim Duncan plopped down hard on Stephen Green, then spun lightly and made a layup.
"Ah, that hurts! Tim, can't you go a little easier? We're teammates, after all."
When Eric Turner arrived at the gym, the players were already there, practicing in small groups. Eric Turner glanced around and quickly spotted a familiar figure under the left hoop—Tim Duncan.
"Stephen Grant, you're in trouble. Coach is here."
"Ah, about that shot yesterday, I really didn't mean it. Coach will understand. Let's go gather."
"Mark, why are you the only one here? Where's Bill?" Eric Turner knew from the dynasty system that this Black man was his team's assistant coach, but right now, besides the five players and one assistant coach, the team was still missing one person—the scout Bill Lambeau from the system.
"Bill already went to scout high school players last month, didn't he? Did you forget?"
"I see," Eric Turner nodded. Although he wasn't very familiar with the NCAA in the US, he knew that here, college coaches had to go to various high schools to recruit players. Wake Forest might not be on the same level as Duke or North Carolina in the ACC, but it was still a traditional powerhouse, and recruiting players was a very serious matter.
Looking at these players, Eric Turner nodded to himself. According to the dynasty system's data, aside from Duncan, the other four players didn't have very high ratings. This meant the whole team basically depended on Duncan alone, so achieving good results wouldn't be easy. But seeing the slightly immature future greatest power forward in history standing before him, Eric Turner was still very happy. He had never imagined that one day he would get to coach a player of Duncan's caliber.
"Everyone's about to go on break, right? Our team did pretty well this season, so everyone's in a good mood, I hope?" Eric Turner said with a smile to the group of players.
"Yeah, Coach, we were the ACC champions this season, and one of the top sixteen teams in the country."
