As for why he cares so much about Google, it all comes down to money. Originally, he thought that after most of Carter's funds were depleted, he would have to rely on buying low and selling high to keep the club running normally. This would undoubtedly make things much more difficult. But unexpectedly, Carter actually holds shares in Google, so after Google goes public, Florence will no longer have to worry about financial problems.
Although he doesn't know exactly how much money they will get by then, one thing is certain: it will be a huge sum. So huge that it's beyond imagination.
"Then it's settled about Google! Do you have any suggestions for my other businesses?" Carter rarely saw Leon Thompson show such insight into financial matters, so he was looking forward to hearing his friend's advice on his other ventures.
Unfortunately, Leon Thompson did not meet his expectations—not even a little: "No, you can handle the rest however you like. If you want to sell, sell; if you think something is valuable, keep it for the dividends... Hm? What's this?" He answered absentmindedly while flipping through the documents, until he suddenly felt surprised when he saw the last few lines. "A game development company? And it's wholly owned? You actually started something like this!"
"Hey! That's a legitimate game development company. Please don't use the word 'thing' to describe her, okay?" Carter was displeased that his friend would use such a term for the only development company that was entirely his own.
"Alright! Then... can you tell me how you came up with the idea to start a game development company?" Seeing his friend's expression, Leon Thompson realized how important this company was to Carter, and immediately changed his tone.
"It's nothing! I just wanted to start one, so I did."
"What kind of answer is that?"
"Come on! I don't believe you've never been dissatisfied with those games, never thought 'I could make a better game myself!'" Carter was a bit frustrated that his friend kept focusing on this company. He hadn't expected that something he started on a whim would interest Leon Thompson so much.
"Ha! You really are..." After thinking for a moment, he suddenly clapped his hands. "Adorable! Yes! That's right, adorable!" Apparently pleased with having found such a fitting word, Leon Thompson emphasized it several times.
"You damn guy! Maybe I should just sell this company off completely—after all, it's just a small company!" Embarrassed and angry, Carter even considered selling the game development company. "I'd rather throw it away than give this guy another chance to laugh at me!" That was his thought. Yes! It really was adorable, and quite childish.
"No! No! Carter, I think it's better to keep it!" To Carter's surprise, Leon Thompson was actually very interested in this game development company.
"Do you have any ideas?"
"Right now it's just a vague concept. I'll tell you after I flesh it out! For now, just keep it in your hands!"
"Alright! As you wish!"...
After that, the two of them discussed the current situation in Florence, and the result gave them both a headache. Florence was now just an empty shell, and the staff who had been called back wouldn't return to their posts until tomorrow. As a result, the two of them were completely in the dark about many of Florence's details, not knowing anything, which left them feeling at a loss about where to start.
"Maybe we should wait until the staff return and all the departments are up and running before we discuss how to get the club back on track." Carter felt that things couldn't go on like this; the two of them staying here was simply a waste of time.
"Yeah! Looks like that's all we can do!" Leon Thompson agreed with the suggestion, but there was one thing he disagreed on: "As for the players, I think... we need to make a decision today!"
Leon Thompson was in a hurry to bring up the player issue for good reason—Florence had been completely bankrupt for two days. Two days may not seem long, but it was enough time for the big clubs to poach all the star players who originally belonged to Florence but became free agents due to the bankruptcy.
Maybe, during the time the two of them were talking, another player who used to belong to Florence had already signed a new contract and said goodbye to Florence for good.
"This should be your job, my transfer manager!" Carter finally found something to make his friend feel frustrated. "I'm only responsible for paying! Even if you plan to bring in Zidane or Ronaldo, I'll sign the check without hesitation—as long as you can convince them to join our team!"
"Alright! Then get your checkbook ready!" Leon Thompson didn't care about Carter's joke; he just calmly made a statement that sounded like a victory declaration!
"Well then, I'm looking forward to your performance!"
"Trust me! I will definitely give all the people of Florence a big surprise!"
With that, their conversation ended. Carter needed to go back and continue dealing with his financial issues. As for the club, it seemed that nothing could be done until the staff returned to their posts.
