Chapter 12

The little demon princess was the youngest daughter of the Emperor of Chu, Sarah Miller, who was showered with boundless love and affection, deeply cherished by both the Emperor and Empress of Chu. The guards by her side were death warriors specially trained for her by the Emperor, utterly loyal to her. As for the three magicians, they were not yet true apprentice magicians, currently only holding the status of trainees.

In a few months, it would be the Emperor of Chu’s sixtieth birthday. To show her filial piety, the little princess secretly snuck out of the palace, planning to pick the legendary Blazing Immortal Lotus from the western border of Chu as a birthday gift for the Emperor. As for her entourage, they had been threatened and coerced by her into coming along.

“What do you think my father’s expression will be when I present him with the Blazing Immortal Lotus? Hmm, I bet he’ll be so happy he can’t stop smiling, and he’ll allow me to come and go from the imperial city as I please. Hehe, that would be wonderful. From then on, I can go wherever I want to play, and no one will ever stop me again, hehe…”

Ethan Brooks sighed inwardly: How adorable she seems now, just like an innocent little angel. The heart of a demon, the face of an angel!

Each of the guards wore a bitter expression. Although they had been forced out by the little princess, the Emperor would surely not care about that and would definitely punish them in the end.

“Hmph, did you all eat bitter melon? How many times have I told you, I definitely won’t let Father punish you.” The little princess was a bit displeased. She glanced at Ethan Brooks, who was standing nearby, and said, “Hmph, you scoundrel, how dare you snicker—come over here and practice with me.”

A couple of days ago, the little princess had kept calling Ethan Brooks a lecher, but after a female guard quietly said a few words to her, she immediately realized something. First, she furiously beat Ethan Brooks up, and then never called him a lecher again, switching to calling him scoundrel and stinky thief.

Ethan Brooks, bracing himself, reluctantly walked over. He prayed in his heart: Oh gods, Buddha, angel sister, I know you’ve all gone to the divine and demonic cemetery to “enjoy yourselves,” but don’t you have any distant relatives? Send them to subdue this demon, please. Demons, ghosts, lord of hell, please come and take your close kin away.

These past two days, Ethan Brooks had already practiced martial arts with the little demon princess countless times. The little princess’s martial skills were astonishingly high, leaving him battered and bruised, miserable beyond words.

The little princess gave Ethan Brooks a mischievous smile and said, “Why do you look so glum? Is it really that painful to practice martial arts with me? Hmph!”

“Hehe, you’re improving, not bad. Try this move of mine. Hehe, see how powerful it is? So funny, hehe…” The little princess’s delighted and triumphant laughter echoed through the forest, and Ethan Brooks’s Nth nightmare began once again.

On the sixth day, the little princess and her group finally arrived at their destination—a volcano appeared before them, its crater shrouded in layers of smoke and clouds, as if flames could erupt at any moment.

Ethan Brooks was secretly alarmed: This terrifying little demon is truly crazy, actually wanting to pick the Blazing Immortal Lotus at the mouth of a volcano.

The princess’s guards were extremely nervous. One of the trainee magicians asked, “Your Highness, is there really a Blazing Immortal Lotus at the volcano’s mouth?”

The little princess was a bit displeased and snorted, “Of course there is. Are you all scared?”

The trainee magician hurriedly replied, “No, of course not. We swear to pick the Blazing Immortal Lotus for Your Highness, even at the cost of our lives.”

The little princess said, “When my master accidentally discovered the Immortal Lotus, it wasn’t ripe yet. Judging by the dates, these days are the best time to pick it.”

A female guard reminded, “Your Highness, I’ve heard that all heavenly treasures are guarded by spirit beasts. I wonder about this Immortal Lotus…”

“Oh, if you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten. My master said there’s a little snake there. Hmm, you’re not telling me you can’t even handle a little snake, right? Just be a bit careful, that’s all.” The little princess said carelessly.

Ethan Brooks muttered inwardly: Just be a bit careful?! Can a spirit beast guarding a heavenly treasure be dealt with so easily? This little demon really is unbelievably reckless. No way, I can’t be at the front—I’d better hide at the back.

The group began climbing the mountain, and Ethan Brooks slowly moved his steps, finally falling to the rear.

“You scoundrel, get to the front!” The little princess’s crisp voice dashed Ethan Brooks’s plan.

He cursed inwardly, “Little demon…” and very reluctantly moved to the front of the group.

“Hey, scoundrel, what’s with that look in your eyes? Are you dissatisfied? Are you planning to challenge me to a duel at the summit like those experts? Wow, that’s great! Why don’t we have a duel at the top of the volcano?” the little princess exclaimed excitedly.

Ethan Brooks sighed in his heart: Demon princess!

The closer they got to the volcano’s mouth, the higher the temperature became, making everyone feel stiflingly hot, and the rocks beneath their feet grew hotter and hotter. Ethan Brooks felt a bit nervous, constantly on guard for the little snake lurking in the shadows.

At last, the group reached the mouth of the volcano. Wisps of smoke drifted out, the air was scorching, and the crater was like a furnace. Sweat that dripped onto the dark brown volcanic rock instantly evaporated.

A rich, fragrant aroma wafted out from the smoke, instantly refreshing the weary and exhausted group.
