Ethan Carter took out the star meteorite from his pocket and handed it to Yvonne Carter, smiling as he said, “This star meteorite contains a strong power of the stars. It should be a star meteorite from the second heaven. Take it and use it for your cultivation.”
Yvonne Carter looked at Ethan Carter, glaring at him as she said, “Every time Father gives you a star meteorite, you secretly give it to me. Now I’m already a martial cultivator at the Wheel Meridian Realm. Do I still need yours?”
Thinking of this, Yvonne Carter’s gaze softened. Although today, because of Ethan Carter, her father and Teacher Thomas Green had a falling out, she would never blame Ethan Carter. Since childhood, this younger brother had helped her cultivate. Every time Father gave him a star meteorite, Ethan Carter would secretly give it to her and tell her not to tell anyone. That’s how she became who she was today.
“Wheel Meridian Realm already.” Ethan Carter was delighted, then smiled and said, “Alright, then I won’t give it to you this time.”
There were only two days left, and he did need to use the energy of the star meteorite to cultivate and quickly improve his strength a bit more.
“That’s better. Wentian, I’ve met quite a few outstanding young ladies in the imperial city. When there’s a chance in the future, I’ll introduce you to one. Since the Bai family is so snobbish, you shouldn’t care too much about those people.” Yvonne Carter advised.
Of course, Ethan Carter knew this was the real reason Yvonne Carter had followed him—to comfort him, afraid he’d be hurt by what happened.
He stopped walking, squatted down, making Yvonne Carter’s expression freeze for a moment. She glared at Ethan Carter and said, “What are you doing?”
“Get on.” Ethan Carter said with a smile.
“Screw you.” Yvonne Carter’s pretty face turned slightly red. She rolled her eyes at Ethan Carter and turned her body a little.
“Beauty, it’s not like it’s the first time. Who was it that used to climb on my back every day when we were kids? Now that you’ve grown up, you don’t even recognize your little brother anymore.” Ethan Carter teased, making Yvonne Carter stomp her foot. This guy, bringing up embarrassing things again.
Yvonne Carter was a bit older than Ethan Carter, already nearly seventeen this year, tall and graceful. Ethan Carter asking her to do what she did as a child naturally made her feel a bit embarrassed. Even so, she still shuffled her feet, put her hands on Ethan Carter’s shoulders, but looked off to the left.
“Let’s go.” Ethan Carter held onto Yvonne Carter’s thighs, letting her lie on his back. Feeling the softness pressing against his back, he couldn’t help but laugh, “Yvonne Carter sis, you’ve really grown up.”
Yvonne Carter gritted her teeth in annoyance, tugging at Ethan Carter’s ears with both hands, glancing around nervously as if afraid of being seen. Although they were siblings, they weren’t blood-related, so Yvonne Carter couldn’t be as natural as when she was a child.
“Looks like I worried about you for nothing.” Yvonne Carter muttered. This guy didn’t look like someone who’d been hurt at all.
Joking and laughing, the two arrived at a courtyard. This was the residence of Charles Carter’s family, divided into east and west wings. Charles Carter and his wife, along with Yvonne Carter, lived in the east wing, while Ethan Carter and Henry Black lived in the west wing.
At that moment, there was a woman in the courtyard, looking not yet thirty, bearing some resemblance to Yvonne Carter. Seeing Ethan Carter carrying Yvonne Carter in, she couldn’t help but show a gentle smile.
“Yaor, you’re so big now and still like to cling to Ethan.” Mrs. Carter knew well that although Yvonne Carter was older than Ethan Carter, most of the time it was Ethan Carter taking care of Yvonne Carter, almost like he was her older brother.
“Mother, that’s not true. This guy is just taking advantage of me.” Yvonne Carter got off Ethan Carter’s back and complained to Mrs. Carter.
“Is there any advantage you haven’t let Ethan take?” Mrs. Carter smiled warmly, making Ethan Carter give a sheepish smile, looking a bit embarrassed.
“Mom!” Yvonne Carter stomped her foot speechlessly, making Mrs. Carter laugh heartily.
“Mother, I’ll go check on Henry Black first.” Ethan Carter, feeling Yvonne Carter’s mischievous gaze, quickly slipped away to the west wing. There, he saw an old figure cleaning the courtyard. The old man had only one arm and one leg, his body hunched, looking as if he was in his twilight years.
“Henry Black, let me do it.” Ethan Carter walked over, but the old man slowly turned around, looking at Ethan Carter with a serious expression. “You’ve condensed your star soul?”
Ethan Carter wasn’t surprised that Henry Black could tell. He nodded calmly.
“Which heaven? What kind of star soul?” Henry Black asked.
“Fifth heaven, the Heavenly Hammer Star Soul.”
Henry Black’s aged body trembled slightly, but in an instant he regained his composure, turned around, and walked toward the backyard without a word.
Ethan Carter silently followed Henry Black to the training ground in the backyard. Henry Black sat on a stone stool, looking at Ethan Carter. “All these years, I made you shatter your meridians, endure inhuman pain, yet forbade you from absorbing the world’s vital energy or communicating with your martial fate star. Do you resent me?”
“Didn’t Henry Black already tell me? If I had absorbed the world’s vital energy, how could I have such sensitivity and affinity for the power of the stars today? If it weren’t for years of meditation and cultivation, how could I have communicated with the martial fate star of the fifth heaven?” Ethan Carter replied with a smile. “Only with deep accumulation can one make a breakthrough. Shattering my meridians was a blessing in disguise.”
