This scene instantly made Ruby Redmond feel as if her soul had left her body. She didn’t even care about her battered and bruised body as she screamed in terror and crawled desperately toward her house: “No! No! Are you crazy!? If you hit me, your whole life will be ruined, and my family will never let you go…”
A trace of pain flashed in Samuel Thompson’s eyes.
But in the next instant, that trace of pain—and the hesitation hidden within it—was completely replaced by coldness and resolve. He slammed the accelerator of the luxury car, worth no less than a million, all the way down.
“Screech!”
The sound of the tires grinding against the pavement echoed down the street.
“No, please, no…”
Ruby Redmond let out a piercing scream.
“Stop!”
“Stop the car!”
In the distance, the members of the Chi family, having heard the commotion outside, finally rushed out from the villa that looked like a castle—more than a dozen people, half of them security guards.
But…
With a small garden and a fountain separating them by dozens of meters, it wasn’t so easy to cross the distance in an instant.
“No, ah…”
Amid Ruby Redmond’s cries of despair and regret, the twenty-odd meters between them was crossed in a flash.
“Bang!”
The car, carrying terrifying momentum, slammed viciously into Ruby Redmond’s body, then dragged her underneath, crushing her as it passed.
Blood…
Splattered everywhere.
“Screech!”
The car, carried by inertia, rolled forward more than ten meters before coming to a stop.
Samuel Thompson got out, completely ignoring the furious and terrified Chi family members. He turned and walked over to the blood-soaked, crushed Ruby Redmond.
At this moment, Ruby Redmond was actually still alive, barely conscious. But when she saw Samuel Thompson approaching, the terror in her eyes reached its peak. Always domineering and ruthless, she had never imagined she would one day end up like this.
“No… please… plea…”
Ruby Redmond begged weakly and fearfully…
But it was useless.
Samuel Thompson, expressionless, raised his right hand, clenched his fist, and, amid the furious roars of the Chi family, struck with all his might at Ruby Redmond’s temple.
“Bang!”
“Die!”
A roar.
The tremendous force smashed her head hard against the ground.
“Thud!”
Blood splattered.
The temple!
Fatal!
Chapter 3 Exam
“No!”
A scream, filled with pain and fear, burst from the mouths of the Chi family.
“Beat him to death! Beat him to death! I want him to pay for blood with blood!”
The head of the Chi family, Ruby Redmond’s father Liam Redmond, roared his order.
Immediately, the six security guards who had come out with him charged forward, fierce and menacing.
Facing the six charging security guards, Samuel Thompson turned coldly, stepped forward, darted in like lightning, bent his right arm, and slammed his elbow into the chest of the leading guard, sending him flying backward.
At the same time, he twisted his body to dodge a flying kick from another guard, then lashed out with his right foot, striking the guard’s calf. The tremendous force sent the guard, who was standing on one leg, tumbling forward and crashing heavily to the ground.
“Bang!”
A baton, with a faint whooshing sound, struck Samuel Thompson’s shoulder, causing him to pause slightly and almost lose feeling in his left hand.
In the next moment, Samuel Thompson exploded into action, spinning and smashing his elbow into the temple of the guard wielding the baton. The violent impact made the guard’s eyes fill with blood, and his strong, six-foot-one frame collapsed to the ground, unconscious, without a struggle.
The remaining three attacked with fists, feet, and batons all at once. Samuel Thompson reacted swiftly, dodging two baton strikes and blocking the third guard’s front kick with both hands.
These security guards were all former soldiers. Though not battle-hardened veterans, they were still quite tough and knew some martial arts. Samuel Thompson blocked the kick, but the force still made him stagger back three steps.
But as he retreated, he locked onto the guard’s outstretched right leg. With a pull and a yank, he forced the man into a full split.
“Ah!”
The pain of forcibly stretched muscles and tendons made the thirty-something guard let out a miserable scream.
In the blink of an eye, four of the six guards were down.
The remaining two looked at Samuel Thompson, who was slowly straightening up, fear flashing in their eyes—they didn’t dare approach.
Not just the guards—even the other Chi family members, who had been furious moments before, now froze in place, staring at him in terror.
Samuel Thompson’s gaze passed over the two guards and landed on the Chi family members.
The family head, Liam Redmond, looked as grim as water, while the others averted their eyes, not daring to meet Samuel Thompson’s gaze.
The atmosphere in the courtyard suddenly froze.
One second, two seconds, maybe three.
Samuel Thompson withdrew his gaze from the Chi family, said nothing, turned, and strode away, disappearing in the blink of an eye into the shade of the trees in the greenbelt ahead.
Seeing Samuel Thompson turn and leave, many of the Chi family members let out a sigh of relief, still visibly shaken.
As for Liam Redmond, staring at the now lifeless Ruby Redmond, his face was so dark it seemed it could drip water.
But a wise man does not stand under a dangerous wall.
