Chapter 10

Even the coldest woman can be vengeful.

“Hurry up and get lost!” George Marshall brushed off his hands, looking impatient.

“Aren’t you afraid you’ll regret this?” Henry Langley said leisurely.

“Haha, what can you do to me?” George Marshall couldn’t help but laugh. This young man actually dared to threaten him.

The others in the shop also looked on as if watching a joke. Which spoiled young master’s son was this? But even if he were the direct descendant of one of the city’s two great families, so what? He still wouldn’t have the qualifications to challenge a mid-grade Yellow-rank alchemist.

Henry Langley just smiled and turned to look at Emily Thompson.

A flash of disdain crossed Emily Thompson’s heart. Was he going to ask her to act again? But then she heard Henry Langley say, “Shout loudly for me: Too much Tonggu sand was added! Shout it three times, the louder the better.”

What does that mean?

Emily Thompson’s beautiful eyes widened, but when she saw Henry Langley’s confident expression, her heart trembled and she couldn’t help but comply, shouting loudly, “Too much Tonggu sand was added! Too much Tonggu sand was added! Too much Tonggu sand was added!”

She was at the Gathering Origin stage, her voice full and powerful, like a lion’s roar.

“You two are both crazy, get them out of here now!” George Marshall shouted angrily, ordering the two guards in the shop.

Bang! A loud explosion sounded, as if something had blown up—any alchemist would immediately recognize this as a furnace explosion, something every alchemist encounters at some point.

Thump, thump, thump, thump—a series of footsteps sounded, coming down from upstairs. Soon, an elderly man with white hair and beard appeared at the top of the stairs, and with a single stride rushed to stand in front of Emily Thompson, excitedly asking, “How did you know too much Tonggu sand was added?”

The old man still bore the marks of the explosion: part of his beard, eyebrows, and hair had been burned off, half his face was blackened, and his clothes were tattered. Being stared at so intently by such an old man, Emily Thompson naturally felt strange.

But what surprised her even more was the silver badge pinned to the old man’s chest—a symbol of an alchemist. Silver meant... Xuan-rank! And a single badge meant lower grade.

This old man was a lower-grade Xuan-rank alchemist.

Goodness, such a person would be an honored guest in any major family even in the imperial capital. Even the head of her own The Thompson Family would have to respectfully address him as “Master.”

But now, this “Master” was looking at her with puppy-dog eyes, full of curiosity. How could Emily Thompson not feel odd?

She couldn’t help but look at Henry Langley. Just how many amazing things could this young man do?

Chapter 0007 Master Carter

Pfft!

Seeing this scene, everyone in the pharmacy burst out laughing.

Even if some didn’t recognize Helen Carter Master Carter, they could tell from the silver badge on his chest that he was a lower-grade Xuan-rank alchemist.

Xuan-rank!

To ordinary people, this was an incredibly noble status, comparable to a minister of the empire, even more prestigious than the lord of a city. Yet now, this master was acting like this over a single sentence—how could anyone not be shocked?

And the one who caused all this was a young boy.

How was that possible!

Many people were going crazy—this was a reality they simply couldn’t accept.

George Brooks was even more terrified. This Master Carter was a big shot at the Rain Country’s Tianyao Pavilion branch. Normally, he would never have the chance to meet such a person, only hear stories about him.

So now, seeing Master Carter like this, how could he not be shocked?

Could it be that this kid wasn’t here to cause trouble, and what he said about the medicine was true?

Henry Langley sniffed with his nose and said, “You’re actually quite clever. You improved the ‘Windfire Pill’ formula, using purple-backed bear gall, thousand-thread vine, and black stone powder to replace some of the more precious original ingredients. This way, the efficacy isn’t much worse, but the cost is greatly reduced.”

Helen Carter suddenly turned around, staring at Henry Langley in shock and blurting out, “How did you know?” This was his secret. He had planned to announce it only after succeeding, to amaze his old friends and rivals.

Henry Langley smiled and said, “Of course, I smelled it with my nose.”

Are you a monster? You figured it out just by smelling? You know, pill formulas are extremely valuable, and no alchemist would easily show them to others, just like martial arts techniques.

The problem was, Helen Carter himself hadn’t even fully worked out the improved formula, yet Henry Langley had analyzed it just by smelling it. How could Helen Carter not be utterly shocked?

“This improvement isn’t impossible, but Tonggu sand is too strong and its melting point is too high. No matter how finely you grind it, it will still remain in the finished pill, affecting its quality... Try using the tooth of a Blazing Flame Leopard instead of Tonggu sand,” Henry Langley suggested. Back in his day, he had casually given advice to some people, and they had all become masters of alchemy.

Helen Carter immediately began calculating in his mind, muttering, “The Blazing Flame Leopard is fire-attributed, which just happens to neutralize the yin property brought by black stone powder. And at a certain high temperature, it melts and vaporizes, so it won’t remain in the pill.”

“Brilliant, truly brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?”
