As long as you're a student, it's best to stay far away and never get involved with this guy. Otherwise, going astray is the least of your worries—you might even end up dead at his hands!
The two brothers had come to the academy to seek a master and had heard similar rumors. They'd always been extremely cautious and never dreamed that this aloof, impressive expert before them was the legendary good-for-nothing!
"Teacher, you're so amazing, why..."
Matthew Reed couldn't hold back and asked.
Although they hadn't interacted for long, this teacher before him was unfathomable, every move exuding grace—how could he possibly be a good-for-nothing?
"People are often jealous of the talented. It's nothing unusual!"
Michael Bolton tilted his eyes upward at a forty-five-degree angle, a faint look of regret and sorrow in his eyes, as if lamenting the world's lack of understanding.
His expression was perfect, but in his heart, he was cursing nonstop.
If it weren't for the Library of Heaven's Path, with the way his predecessor behaved, it would be lucky not to have negative points. Zero points... that's already pretty high, okay!
"I want to clear your name, teacher!"
Seeing his teacher's "sorrowful," "unappreciated by the world" expression, Matthew Reed was moved and couldn't help but speak.
"Alright, my reputation doesn't matter. Just focus on your cultivation, and I'll be satisfied! Take your identity token and go collect your bedding. Be on time for class tomorrow—don't be late!"
After finishing his act, Michael Bolton had completely won over the admiration of this student and nodded immediately.
"Yes!"
Matthew Reed pulled Ethan Grant beside him, and the two walked out.
"Four students now!"
Watching the two leave, a flash of excitement appeared in Michael Bolton's eyes.
The cute and clueless girl Jessica Miller, the student won from a bet Jason Harris, the arrogant young lady Emily Clark, and now this gun prodigy Matthew Reed.
He'd thought today would be like before, ending in failure without recruiting a single student, but unexpectedly, he already had four!
"I'm out of identity tokens. Even if more students come, I can't accept them as disciples. While I still have time, I'd better go get a few more!"
After marveling at having four students, Michael Bolton finally realized he was out of identity tokens.
These tokens are distributed by the academy. Because of his terrible reputation, the teacher in charge of the tokens only gave him four, thinking he couldn't possibly use them all. If he didn't go get more, even if new students came, he couldn't take them as disciples!
The token contains the teacher's information. Once a drop of blood is used to recognize the owner, it means the student has acknowledged this teacher as their master. If a student wants to withdraw, the teacher just needs to drip blood on it to erase the student's information.
He stood up and walked out of the classroom.
Outside, the sun was shining brightly, and waves of heat sneaked through the shade of the trees, making his forehead break out in a slight sweat.
On the academy's streets, new students and returning students walked together, all with excitement on their faces.
New students were happy to be entering a new environment and finding a teacher, while the returning students were grinning at the thought of having new students to mess with.
After walking along the street for a while, a spacious building appeared ahead, with three large characters on the sign in the center: "Logistics Department!"
The identity tokens for teachers are collected here.
"Hey, look who it is—our 'star teacher'! Not busy recruiting students in your classroom, so what are you doing here? Oh, let me guess, you didn't use a single identity token and came to return them, right?"
As soon as he walked in, a mocking voice rang out.
Michael Bolton looked up and saw a man with a face full of flesh.
This guy weighed at least three or four hundred pounds, and from a distance, he was as wide as he was tall, looking like a giant ball of meat.
"Steven Wright!" A name surfaced in his memory.
This Steven Wright was a teacher in charge of logistics, known for being mean and always looking for bribes. As the lowest-ranked teacher, Michael Bolton's salary was always meager, and he couldn't get much in the way of supplies, so he hadn't really given him any gifts.
Because of this, he'd offended him, and every time they met, Steven Wright would mock and ridicule him, trying to embarrass him in every way.
Only giving him four identity tokens and saying he couldn't use them all was also this guy's doing.
"I'm out of identity tokens and want to get a few more," Michael Bolton said calmly, not bothering to stoop to his level.
"Out of tokens?" Steven Wright was stunned, then burst out laughing. "Hahaha, everyone come and see! Our last-place teacher actually came here pretending he used up all his identity tokens! Hahaha, that's the funniest joke I've ever heard..."
"I remember you gave him four tokens, right? Used them all? Him? What a joke!"
"Teacher Kevin Scott, who's second to last, has only gotten one student so far. This guy scored an unprecedented zero on the teaching assessment—he got students? Who's he trying to fool?"
"Just kick him out. Anyway, after today, he's getting fired..."
...
Several teachers from the logistics department heard Steven Wright's shout and all came over, looking at Michael Bolton with faces full of disdain.
Last place, zero on the teaching assessment—what's he pretending for?
When students hear your name, they can't run away fast enough, let alone acknowledge you as their teacher... What a joke!
