Chapter 1

Ryan Lincoln was reborn, reborn in the year 4161 AD, two thousand years in the future.

In this era of highly advanced technology, the pinnacle of human biotechnology has collided and merged with the civilization of Celestial Star, giving rise to a path of human evolution—‘Symbiotic Martial Arts’—that allows people to achieve immortality and transcend the universe.

The entire society reveres the strong, and people take pride in practicing Symbiotic Martial Arts. There is even a group of ‘Variant Walkers’ who stand at the top of the pyramid, looking down upon the world.

At first, Ryan Lincoln couldn’t figure out the meaning of his rebirth. Out of a sense of responsibility, he simply tried his best to adapt to this era.

Until one day, the ‘Battle Spirit Ring’ that accompanied Ryan Lincoln captured its first battle spirit.

Ryan Lincoln could let the battle spirit possess him in combat, and could also copy all the martial skills and abilities mastered by the battle spirit. The battle spirits he captured grew ever stronger—

Ryan Lincoln began to realize that this era belonged to him.

A future ‘Ultra-Abyss’ who would one day rule the world with a single hand began his rapid rise at the Ninth Base of Celestial Star.

Chapter 1: The Beginning of Fate

Year 4161 AD, Ninth Planet Observation Base of Celestial Star, Longze East Road City Rail Station.

As Ryan Lincoln walked with the crowd to the exit of the city rail station, he instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight reflected by the surrounding skyscrapers.

He was about to head toward the bus stop when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a lively girl with delicate, sweet features and a petite, well-proportioned figure waving in his direction from the side of the street.

Ryan Lincoln was a little surprised and quickly made his way through the bustling crowd, frowning as he walked up to the girl. “Sean Lincoln, you skipped class again?”

This was his younger sister, Sean Lincoln, sixteen years old, currently attending Longze Girls’ High School nearby—a problem student who gave her teachers endless headaches.

Sean Lincoln let out a disdainful snort, full of scorn. “So what if I skipped class once? I learned everything they teach at school two years ago.”

She gave Ryan Lincoln a look with an unreadable expression, then hopped onto a floating motorcycle parked behind her and handed him a safety helmet.

“I came all the way here to pick you up and you’re still not satisfied? Get on!”

Ryan Lincoln looked a bit helpless.

He noticed that the box on the back of the floating motorcycle was filled with all kinds of fresh ingredients.

As he swung his leg over the bike, Ryan Lincoln asked in a puzzled tone, “Did you buy all these groceries? Didn’t you say there’s barely any living expenses left for this month?”

“They’re for you, to help you recover.”

Sean Lincoln had already started the engine and merged the floating motorcycle into the traffic ahead. “Tomorrow is your school’s Variant Combat Assessment. This is a big day for our family. I have to make you a good meal and take care of logistics for you. I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. As long as you pass the assessment, we won’t have to keep living so tight.”

After hearing this, Ryan Lincoln couldn’t help but fall silent.

If it were the original owner of this body, he would definitely be able to place in the top three of the class in this assessment.

The problem was, the current Ryan Lincoln was not the real Ryan Lincoln, nor was he a person of this era.

His soul came from the 21st century—a regular student who, after tragically succumbing to leukemia, crossed over to this world and woke up in this nearly-dead body ten days ago, inheriting the original owner’s identity.

Ryan Lincoln had only inherited some fragmented memories, so from the moment he woke up until now, his mind had been in a haze.

Ryan Lincoln was still adapting to this technological era two thousand years in the future. The era’s biotech ‘Symbiotic Martial Arts’ was a bit too advanced for him. Although he absorbed all kinds of knowledge quickly and worked hard, there was just too little time left for him.

While sighing inwardly, Ryan Lincoln said in a faint voice, “You sure have a lot of faith in me. What if I don’t pass this time?”

“Don’t pass? That would be terrible.” Sean Lincoln didn’t seem to catch his probing tone and shrugged casually up ahead. “You’d have to move to the lower district, and we’d have to be separated for a while.

But that’s almost impossible. You work so hard, and you’ve been in the top twenty of your grade for years. If even you can’t pass the assessment, probably no one in your school could. You have to hold steady this time. Whether our family can live a better life from now on all depends on you.”

Ryan Lincoln felt even heavier inside.

He knew how much sweat and effort the original owner of this body had put in to become a Variant Walker.

Although the memories Ryan Lincoln inherited were incomplete, his smart terminal contained 2,700 pages of study notes recorded by the original owner, and at home there were five sandbags that had been punched to pieces and seven damaged smart sparring robots. These were all marks left by the original’s hard struggle.

Sean Lincoln had also made huge sacrifices.

His little sister started working odd jobs at fourteen to help with household expenses so that Ryan Lincoln could focus on martial arts training. During summer vacation, she even took on three part-time jobs at once.

Recently, Sean Lincoln had been dressing up like a ghost every night, just to stay safe while walking home from her night shifts.

The siblings worked so hard, all so that Ryan Lincoln could pass the assessment, so they could stay together and not be separated, and so they wouldn’t be forced by the government to leave the inner district of the base.
