William Harper looked mockingly at Leonard Harper and said, “Then how did I get the blood of the spirit fox? That spirit fox was already dead as a doornail. Don’t tell me you’re even afraid to touch the corpse of a spirit fox.”
“Kid, your expression really annoys me. Believe it or not, I’ll kill you.” Leonard Harper flew into a rage, suddenly vanished from where he stood, and appeared in front of William Harper, grabbing William Harper by the neck and lifting him high into the air. “All I have to do is squeeze a little, and you’ll become a corpse!”
Leonard Harper’s two fingers clamped down on William Harper’s arteries like iron pincers. William Harper felt he couldn’t breathe, the veins in his neck bulging, his face turning bright red.
“Let go of my second brother!” Henry Harper, somehow finding the courage, stabbed his sword at Leonard Harper’s back. With a crisp clang, as if striking steel, Leonard Harper’s body was like iron, and Henry Harper’s sword couldn’t pierce Leonard Harper’s skin at all.
Leonard Harper slapped him away, sending Henry Harper’s thin body tumbling. Henry Harper spat out a mouthful of blood, collapsed to the ground, but staggered back up and charged at Leonard Harper again.
Leonard Harper slapped him away once more, and Henry Harper’s body floated off like a leaf.
With a thud, Henry Harper hit the ground again, struggled for a moment, and forced himself to get up.
“Let go of my second brother, or I’ll kill you.” Henry Harper’s eyes gradually turned blood-red, like a wild beast, his whole body radiating a violent aura, breathing heavily as he stared at Leonard Harper.
“Haha, this kid actually says he’ll kill me.” Leonard Harper acted as if he’d heard the funniest joke in the world and burst out laughing, but his laughter abruptly stopped, because he saw that William Harper, whose neck he was gripping, wasn’t struggling at all. Instead, William Harper looked at him calmly with a mocking, contemptuous gaze.
“Is it that funny?” Because his neck was being squeezed, William Harper’s words came out haltingly, but it was still clear that when he spoke, he was as calm as still water, as if the one being choked wasn’t even him.
Leonard Harper’s body was as immovable as if cast from steel. William Harper understood that no matter how he struggled, he couldn’t shake him in the slightest. This was the difference between the Lower Profound and the Middle Ambush realms. For the first time, his life was in someone else’s hands, and he had no say in it. The feeling was truly unpleasant.
William Harper secretly resolved that one day, he would trample all these people underfoot.
“If you beg for mercy, I’ll let you go.” Leonard Harper tightened his grip. If he used just a bit more force, William Harper’s fragile neck would snap with a crack.
Henry Harper stubbornly charged again and again, but each time Leonard Harper mercilessly slapped him away, leaving him covered in blood, looking like a man made of blood.
“What touching brotherly love.” Leonard Harper glanced at Henry Harper dismissively. To cultivators, all emotions were just shackles; only the weak needed to rely on others.
“I’ll give you three seconds to put me down, or you’ll get nothing.” William Harper stared at Leonard Harper, his tone brooking no argument.
Leonard Harper felt a chill under William Harper’s gaze. Then he thought, I’m at the early stage of Middle Ambush, why should I fear this brat who’s only at the Innate realm? But William Harper’s words made him reconsider. He didn’t doubt their truth at all. The William Harper before him seemed completely unafraid of death. If William Harper decided to die, then Leonard Harper really would get nothing.
“One, two...” William Harper’s face was flushed as he forced out each syllable.
Under this pressure, Leonard Harper unconsciously loosened his grip.
William Harper dropped to the ground, coughing violently, tears streaming uncontrollably from his eyes.
Seeing William Harper released, Henry Harper seemed to lose all support, collapsed to the ground, and fainted.
“Fine, you’re tougher than me.” Leonard Harper muttered, striding toward Henry Harper.
“Don’t hurt him, or you know the consequences.” William Harper said. Henry Harper’s actions just now made William Harper even more certain that Henry Harper and his second brother shared a deep bond. If he was in danger, Henry Harper would protect him at all costs. For that alone, William Harper had to protect Henry Harper.
“Kid, don’t push your luck.” Leonard Harper cursed. He’d originally planned to finish off Henry Harper and eliminate this threat, but after hearing William Harper’s words, he had to reconsider. If William Harper and Henry Harper were so close, killing one would just make the other come after him desperately. It wasn’t worth it. Leonard Harper picked up Henry Harper and tossed him toward William Harper. Henry Harper’s body landed beside William Harper.
William Harper sneered. He had figured out Leonard Harper’s mindset. Until Leonard Harper found the corpse of the Nine Nether Spirit Fox from William Harper, he wouldn’t dare make a move.
Leonard Harper glanced at Henry Harper, his face showing unwillingness. Henry Harper’s unyielding spirit bothered him. Hao Fei had died by his hand, and these two brats would surely hold a grudge. Since William Harper and Henry Harper were so close, they must have felt the same about their late eldest brother. Their usual cowardice was just an act. If given the chance, they’d strike without hesitation. Leonard Harper was tempted to kill William Harper and Henry Harper right now, but he held back. He’d get the Nine Nether Spirit Fox’s corpse first.
