A serving of Yangzhou fried rice priced at 3,000 copper coins definitely wouldn’t sell. He didn’t dare go around advertising where these things came from. If the elves found out their holy spring was being used to grow crops, even with their good tempers, they’d probably shoot him full of arrows. The other races weren’t easy to deal with either. When it came to the origin of the ingredients, keeping it secret was the best choice.
“Let’s set it at 600 copper coins per serving.” After hesitating for a moment, Alex made his decision. This way, he could make a profit of 304 copper coins per serving, and selling a thousand servings would net him 3,040 gold coins.
Having made up his mind, Alex stopped agonizing over it. After all, this was only the first dish he’d learned. Once he mastered some meat dishes in the future, raising the price wouldn’t be a problem. Starting off too high right now would actually make things harder.
Besides, the system had just said that after completing this mission, the second dish to be unlocked would be Roujiamo with braised pork. Since even that sweet crispy cake could sell so well, Roujiamo would definitely be popular too, and it should do a good job of spreading the restaurant’s reputation.
More importantly, Emily had loved the sweet crispy cake so much before. If he could let her eat Roujiamo that tasted a hundred times better, she’d definitely be thrilled.
“It’s just a thousand servings of Yangzhou fried rice. I don’t believe I can’t sell them all.” Alex regained his confidence. He was just considering whether to try some marketing tricks on opening day when the system’s voice suddenly sounded.
“Please confirm the dish price and restaurant name. The system will set the menu prices and modify the restaurant sign accordingly.”
“Yangzhou fried rice, 600 copper coins per serving.” Alex answered directly. As for the restaurant’s name, he thought for a moment, glanced back at Emily, who was still lying on the table peering at the glass, and nodded. “Let’s call it Mai Mi Restaurant, the restaurant of me and Little Emily.”
“Yangzhou fried rice—600 copper coins per serving, Mai Mi Restaurant, confirmation complete.”
“Renovation in progress...”
“Renovation complete.”
The system’s voice sounded in quick succession. Alex noticed that every table now had a delicate menu with a black leather cover, and there was a new sign outside the door, a corner of which could be seen from the kitchen.
“Having a system really is convenient.” Alex shrugged. Yesterday it was still a rundown wooden hut, but overnight it had become a mid-range restaurant. Otherwise, just the renovations alone would have taken him months.
Efficiently finishing a serving of Yangzhou fried rice, Alex scooped a bowl for Emily with a small bowl, then carried the plate and bowl out of the kitchen.
Seeing Emily lying on the table, peering left and right through the glass, Alex set down what he was holding, bent down, and leaned in front of the glass. Staring at Emily through the water-filled glass, he said in a deep voice, “Little princess, your rainbow fried rice is here. Please come and eat.”
“Little princess has received it, coming right away.” Emily lifted her head, giggling at Alex’s smiling face. She felt that her father was so gentle and fun today, not like before when he barely spoke all day.
“Go ahead and eat.” Alex placed the small spoon in her hand.
“Mm-hmm.” Emily nodded, looking at the colorful fried rice in her small bowl. She grabbed the bowl with one hand and the spoon with the other, and started eating.
Alex also picked up a spoonful of egg fried rice and put it in his mouth. The fragrant, tender egg wrapped around the firm yet soft rice, mixed with the flavors of various ingredients, constantly stimulating his taste buds. Maybe it was because he now knew the origins of the ingredients and was savoring it more carefully, but he felt that every ingredient’s flavor was so distinct, yet perfectly blended together. After swallowing, it seemed as if the fresh fragrance of the Spring of Life still lingered between his lips and teeth.
“After finishing, my body feels a little warm, but it’s quite comfortable, like my cells are growing. The fatigue is completely gone. Could this be the benefit brought by the ingredients in this Yangzhou fried rice?” After finishing the last bite, Alex put down his spoon and muttered in surprise.
Chapter 11 Emily’s Wish
After eating a serving of Yangzhou fried rice, Alex sat and savored the feeling for a while. This fried rice, made from these precious ingredients, was indeed not just outstanding in taste.
The most obvious effect was relieving fatigue. The tiredness from making two servings of Yangzhou fried rice early in the morning had completely disappeared after eating a serving himself. Now his whole body felt warm and energetic, even better than drinking Red Bull.
“It must be mainly because of the rice. If I eat this rice for all three meals a day, my physical fitness should steadily improve.” Alex thought to himself. Among all the ingredients, the most precious was the rice grown with the Spring of Life.
“Little Emily, do you feel anything after eating the rainbow fried rice?” Alex asked Emily. She had half-elf blood, so eating rice grown with the Spring of Life shouldn’t have any adverse effects, right?
“It tastes super good!” Emily put her small bowl on the table, stuck out her pink little tongue to lick a grain of rice from the corner of her mouth, and nodded seriously at Alex.
Alex was taken aback, then couldn’t help but smile. That answer wasn’t wrong. He then asked, “Besides being tasty and pretty, do you feel anything else? Any discomfort in your body?”
