Without any suspense, the black-armored giant beast’s incredibly hard scales were blasted to pieces, its massive body pierced through by that pillar of light, exploding into countless fragments of flesh and blood, scattering into the endless void.
Shocked, Mark Brooks was utterly astonished. This Angel of Light was simply too powerful.
Could it be that, in the future, the little sprout in his sea of consciousness would really grow into a towering Divine Tree of Light, and give birth to an Angel of Light?
……
“Kid, how long do you plan on sleeping?”
Just as Mark Brooks was overwhelmed with joy, a voice like a great bell, filled with a primordial, savage aura, buzzed in his ears. The sound made his entire body’s blood and energy surge violently, and his sea of consciousness nearly burst.
“Who is it?”
Before he could finish speaking, the rock beneath his feet suddenly split open. Mark Brooks gasped, hurriedly stepped back several paces, and the crack beside him grew wider and wider. The ground around him slowly bulged upward, as if the earth itself was tilting and being plowed.
In this perilous moment, he leapt onto a blue boulder to temporarily avoid the danger.
Before he could steady himself, he suddenly felt waves of hot air coming from behind. Slowly turning his body, the scene behind him made him stumble back several steps and fall down hard. At the foot of a mountain, he saw the enormous, blue-green, horned head of a turtle emerging.
Landing on the ground, Mark Brooks ignored the pain from his fall, quickly spun around, and fled more than ten zhang away, assuming a defensive posture like an evergreen. But he knew this was utterly futile—after all, this turtle’s head was as large as a small mountain, and it was likely a top-tier demon beast that could kill him with a single breath.
He had heard of turtle-type demon beasts before, but had never seen one so gigantic. Its head was like a mountain peak, its nostrils like caves, enough to strike terror into anyone’s heart.
“Awooo~” The giant turtle raised its head and let out a roar to the sky, its voice shaking the entire valley. Mark Brooks, caught in the midst of it, felt his blood and energy churning, and his ears ringing.
He kept retreating, wanting to curse, but couldn’t summon the courage.
With his size, if this turtle swallowed him in one bite, he wouldn’t even count as dessert.
Just the turtle’s head alone radiated an immense, awe-inspiring aura of ancient savagery.
“Kid, I have slept for who knows how many years, and finally caught the scent of the Seed of Light.” The giant turtle suddenly spoke, its voice making Mark Brooks’s eardrums swell and ache.
Mark Brooks was filled with shock and suspicion. Caught the scent of the Seed of Light? Could it be that the little sprout in his sea of consciousness had aroused this giant turtle’s greed?
“Kid, don’t be nervous.” The giant turtle chuckled, “I am the divine beast Xuan Turtle. I have been sleeping here all these years, waiting for you.”
“Why are you waiting for me? Do you need something from me?” Mark Brooks asked cautiously, probing. Was this really a divine beast? Even a single glance from it was enough to pin him in place, leaving him with no thought of resistance.
“I was once the Xuan Rider under the Light God King. By his command, I have been waiting here for a descendant of the God Clan.” When the Xuan Turtle mentioned the Light God King, it closed its eyes with a look of deep reverence.
In his sea of consciousness, the tender white sprout lifted its leaves and trembled slightly, as if in delight. Mark Brooks understood—it must be that little sprout in his sea of consciousness that made the Xuan Turtle believe he was a descendant of the Light God Clan.
But even Mark Brooks himself didn’t know why that thing was in his sea of consciousness. Whether he was truly a descendant of the Light God Clan was still up for debate.
But at this moment, Mark Brooks wasn’t foolish enough to deny it. Instead, he probed, “Why are you waiting for me?”
“It’s a long story. I’d better communicate with you this way~” As soon as it finished speaking, a blue light suddenly shot from the Xuan Turtle’s giant eyes, and before Mark Brooks could react, the blue light entered his brow.
In an instant, Mark Brooks’s head felt like it was splitting open, as countless torrents of consciousness bombarded his mind.
They were fragments of a great battle—the final showdown between the Light God Clan and the Demon Clan. In the end, the Light God Clan was utterly destroyed, and the survivors escaped with the seed of the Divine Tree of Light.
“You carry the Seed of Light. You are the hope of my God Clan.” The Xuan Turtle spoke gravely, then spat out a spindle-shaped object glowing with white light, which floated before Mark Brooks.
“This is the ‘Great Divine Light Art’ left by my King. I will do what little I can to help you open a hundred-day time-stopping cultivation space—one instant equals a hundred days. I hope this will help you comprehend the Divine Light Art faster and condense a trace of divine light power. Don’t worry about food or water, I have already prepared everything for you.” The Xuan Turtle’s words echoed on and on: “If you succeed within a hundred days, I have an extra reward for you~”
“Great Divine Light Art?” Mark Brooks looked at the spindle-shaped jade crystal floating before him, filled with inexplicable astonishment.
“That’s right. This earth-shattering divine art was created by the Light God King, gathering all the most brilliant talents of the clan, the wisdom of a billion years, with painstaking effort over millennia, for the clan to cultivate both body and spirit, slay demons and monsters, and step onto the path of true eternal immortality.” The Xuan Turtle sighed, “Unfortunately, before the clan could even begin cultivating it… Enough talk, you just need to focus on your cultivation.”
In a flash, Mark Brooks found himself in a world like a sealed space. Mist swirled all around, spiritual energy was abundant, and beneath his feet was a floor paved with blue stone.
Above, a transparent barrier covered the sky like an inverted bowl.
