Chapter 4

However, Henry Grant didn’t forget to check what those nanorobots were actually doing. Almost as soon as he checked, he immediately understood why there had been no response.

A thousand nanorobots were moving along the blood vessels toward the eyes. It would take at least several dozen seconds for them to arrive, so no wonder there was no reaction yet.

This made Henry Grant even more eager for titanium powder—he needed to get it as soon as possible to increase the number of nanorobots. Otherwise, everything would be so inefficient!

“Activate 3D measurement mechanism for both eyes.” A prompt appeared, and then Henry Grant immediately felt a slight change in his eyes.

They felt itchy. Henry Grant closed his eyes and rubbed them hard. When he opened them again, his vision was a bit blurry, accompanied by waves of distortion—very uncomfortable.

“Lens focal disorder detected. Repair?” A question immediately popped up in his mind.

Lens focal disorder? Isn’t that just nearsightedness? What a fancy way to put it. Would Henry Grant refuse? Who wants to keep pushing up thick glasses when sweating buckets?

“Full takeover of left eye ciliary muscle control 1%, 2%...”

……

“Full takeover of left eye ciliary muscle control complete.”

What’s the root cause of nearsightedness? Isn’t it because the ciliary muscle can’t properly adjust the lens, causing it to thicken, so that external objects can’t focus on the retina? So, it all comes down to the ciliary muscle.

The nanorobots immediately began adjusting the ciliary muscle, which both surprised and delighted Henry Grant. If he could finally take off the glasses he’d worn for over a decade, that would be fantastic.

“Ciliary muscle control simulation adjustment 1%...”

Henry Grant’s vision kept changing—blurry one moment, clear the next. In this state, Henry Grant couldn’t do any work and could only sit and rest.

Fortunately, it was almost time to get off work. Before long, James Grant finished work and took Henry Grant home. James Grant was quite satisfied with Henry Grant’s persistence through a day of sweating. He didn’t expect Henry Grant to lose weight immediately, but at least he had the intention and was taking action.

On the way, Henry Grant casually chatted about processing materials like stainless steel and cast iron, then brought up titanium alloy out of curiosity, asking if he could get a piece to play with.

“Titanium alloy? We don’t have that at the factory.” James Grant was interested in processing materials and immediately shut down any hope Henry Grant had of getting it from the factory: “I heard the whole country only produces one or two thousand tons a year. Even research institutes and special materials factories can’t get enough. How could our little factory possibly have any?”

Henry Grant gave up. He’d have to wait until school started in September to see if the national key lab in his department had any. For now, he’d just have to spend the holiday “losing weight.”

He was exhausted today, mainly because his eyes were uncomfortable. After dinner, Henry Grant washed up early and went to bed.

……

“Ciliary muscle control simulation adjustment 100%, ciliary muscle control simulation adjustment complete.” An abrupt message made Henry Grant feel much better. The simulation was complete—did that mean the next step was actual adjustment?

“Stop ciliary muscle control.”

“Reestablish biological reflex 1%...”

……

While the biological reflex was being reestablished, Henry Grant fell asleep, snoring thunderously.

“Reestablish biological reflex 100%, left eye ciliary muscle adjustment complete.”

“Full takeover of right eye ciliary muscle control 100%, full takeover of right eye ciliary muscle control complete.”

“Ciliary muscle control simulation adjustment 100%, ciliary muscle control simulation adjustment complete.”

“Stop ciliary muscle control.”

“Reestablish biological reflex 100%, left eye ciliary muscle adjustment complete.”

“3D measurement mechanism for both eyes activated successfully.”

When Henry Grant woke up, before even opening his eyes, he saw this series of prompt messages in his mind.

Nanorobots are amazing and so diligent—even while Henry Grant was sleeping, they were still working tirelessly.

His vision in both eyes had already been adjusted, and the so-called 3D measurement mechanism had been activated? Henry Grant opened his eyes in pleasant surprise.

Whoosh—a crystal-clear view appeared right before Henry Grant’s eyes. He could swear this was the clearest world he had ever seen in his life.

Before, Henry Grant never really understood what “every detail stands out” meant, but now he did. It meant he could see even the cotton fibers on the T-shirt his mom had placed by his bed with perfect clarity.

About several dozen of the finest fibers twisted together to form a thicker fiber, and then the thick fibers were woven into the T-shirt fabric. Each of the finest cotton fibers had an average diameter of 30 microns.

“Hmm, this one’s diameter is 30.2 microns.” After Henry Grant muttered this to himself, he suddenly froze. Since when could his eyes see cotton fibers at the micron level? And even measure their diameter so precisely?

He looked up at the room.

“Door frame height: 2000.9235 millimeters.”

“Door frame width: 900.0855 millimeters.”

“Table height: 750.3827 millimeters.”

“Table width: 1200.2712 millimeters.”

“Table width: 800.2636 millimeters.”
