Chapter 12

Gale’s face twisted in unbearable pain, and just as he was about to say something, a cruel grin appeared at the corner of Logan’s mouth. With a wave of his left hand, his sharp claws slashed out, and in an instant, Gale’s head flew high into the air—a scene of utter brutality.

At this moment, Ryan Bennett noticed something extremely bizarre: after Gale died, his body actually began to gradually turn transparent. Then, a large number of translucent, pale blue 0s and 1s started flickering inside him. Finally, the body rapidly shrank, collapsed, and turned into specks of light, which then condensed into a blood-red, peculiar key that was immediately collected by Logan.

Witnessing all of this from the side, Ryan Bennett broke out in a cold sweat. Everything happening now was completely beyond his comprehension. His right hand gripped a rusty fruit knife tightly—he’d found it in a nearby pile of junk, and the handle was already slick with sweat from his palm.

—Even though Ryan Bennett was well aware that if he were really discovered, this fruit knife would be utterly useless...

Seeing his companion die so horribly, Thornton had already turned to flee. In fact, his vision had returned the moment Gale’s shield was destroyed, but with Logan and Gale tangled together, he simply had no confidence to take a shot.

At this point, he knew very well that staying any longer would be pointless—he’d only be throwing his own life away for nothing. Witnessing this, Ryan Bennett was also screaming in his heart: run, run as far as you can!

If Logan went after him, that would give Ryan Bennett a chance. It wasn’t realistic to take everything from the box, but grabbing a handful and escaping shouldn’t be a problem.

However, perhaps Ryan Bennett had been down on his luck lately, with everything going wrong, because his prayers seemed to have no effect at all. After running more than thirty meters and ducking behind a nearby building, Thornton, who had been fleeing, suddenly stopped.

You could see both his hands, gripping the gun, were actually glowing. His expression was twisted, his face flushed red, and the veins on his neck bulged like coiled blue snakes!

Then, he did something strange! He swept both hands out horizontally, as if he were about to fling the gun away. In the midst of this sweeping motion, he suddenly fired—the pale blue muzzle flash shot out over a foot long!

Watching this, Ryan Bennett was completely baffled.

Because at this moment, there was a building between Thornton and Logan; they couldn’t even see each other. The only result of firing directly would be hitting the wall...

If it were a tank’s main cannon, maybe Logan would be in danger. But no matter how powerful this shot was, it couldn’t possibly penetrate more than two concrete brick walls and still hurt someone.

Yet, to Ryan Bennett’s shock, the bullet fired in a bizarre arc—just like a banana kick in soccer that curves around the wall—bending around the brick wall ahead and striking Logan, who was in hot pursuit!!!

Gunfighting Technique: Curved Trajectory!

A jet of blood suddenly spurted from Logan’s body!

Though his momentum didn’t slow, his body lurched and crashed headlong into a nearby dilapidated warehouse, causing a loud clatter inside, and then all fell silent.

Having landed a hit, Thornton was now gasping for breath, sweat pouring off him as if that one shot had drained all his energy. At this point, he seemed barely able to hold the silver-white pistol, his hands hanging limply.

A fierce, ruthless look flashed in his eyes. He took a few steps forward, looked toward the ruined warehouse where Logan had crashed, and muttered to himself:

“Let’s see if you’re still not dead!!”

This battle could be described as full of twists and turns, thrilling and intense, but in the end, it seemed to have been concluded by Thornton’s stunning shot.

To be honest, Ryan Bennett had guessed this outcome, but he wasn’t satisfied. After all, Thornton seemed to have only suffered some superficial wounds. If Ryan Bennett revealed himself now to fight for that silver-white box, he’d most likely end up with a bullet in his head—or the other guy might just kick him and take half his life.

Thornton looked at the warehouse where Logan had fallen, but had no intention of approaching. Instead, he quickly retreated backward and even tossed a Molotov cocktail inside! Instantly, flames roared up with a boom, and within just two seconds, the warehouse was engulfed in a sea of fire!

Then he dashed toward the wreckage of an abandoned tower crane nearby, which was the highest point within several hundred meters. From there, he could either jump into the sea to escape or control everything from above and shoot at will—an absolute advantage.

But just as Thornton sprinted, a burning figure suddenly stood up in the warehouse window—it was Logan. Normally, if someone was on fire, they’d be rolling and screaming in agony, but this figure radiated an inexplicable calm.
