Chapter 6

Other than saying thank you to Raymond Brooks, I really don't know what else to say, but Captain spoke very seriously: "Don't call the police, because this is Mexico. Don't stay here. You don't know whether the police or the drug dealers will arrive first, understand?"

Raymond Brooks was stunned for a moment, then immediately said, "Understood, I'll leave right away."

Captain glanced outside. When he saw Ernest and Joey putting the bison's corpse into the car, he said to Raymond Brooks, "Good luck, goodbye."

Captain didn't shoot Raymond Brooks in the head, but left quite decisively.

Raymond Brooks watched as Captain jogged into the yard and opened the door of a car. At this moment, Cap, who was keeping watch at the gate, suddenly raised a hand and made a stop gesture.

Normally, Cap should have gotten into the second car as it passed by him and left, but his sudden stop gesture made it hard for Raymond Brooks to understand what was going on.

Captain and his group all had wireless communication systems and noise-cancelling headsets, so no matter what they said, Raymond Brooks couldn't hear it, making it impossible for him to judge what was happening.

Captain, who had just gotten into the car, pushed the door open and got out again, and then Ernest also got out. The first thing the two of them did after getting out was to quickly run toward the two corpses left in the yard.

Captain and Ernest each dragged a corpse, heading toward a dark corner of the yard.

Something must have happened, otherwise Captain and the others wouldn't have come back to deal with the kidnappers' bodies.

At this moment, Joey also got out of the car in front. He cursed as he opened the back door, then started forcefully pulling the hostage he had just put in the car.

The hostage grabbed the car door with both hands, refusing to get out, and started screaming in panic.

Joey looked skinny and small, but he was actually quite strong. After he managed to drag the terrified hostage out of the car, he turned to Raymond Brooks and said urgently, "Help me translate, tell this idiot that drug dealers are coming, we're not trying to abandon him!"

This hostage really wasn't very smart, but of course he was also scared out of his mind. Someone needed to calm him down and stop him from screaming, and Raymond Brooks, who could speak Spanish, was the only choice.

Raymond Brooks ran over with his pistol, got to Joey's side, grabbed the hostage by the neck from behind, and said urgently, "Give him to me, I'll make him quiet down."

"Don't let him make a sound, don't let him run around, take him inside, find a way to shut him up."

After hurriedly dumping this problem on Raymond Brooks, Joey let go of the hostage, and to keep the hostage from breaking free, Raymond Brooks had to tighten his left arm and said in a low voice, "I'll make him shut up."

"I have to get out of here, oh God, save me, we can't stay here, run! Run!"

The hostage screamed even louder. Now that Raymond Brooks had taken over, he couldn't let him keep yelling, so he immediately tightened his left arm and said in Spanish to the hostage, "Don't shout! Tell me your name!"

"My name is Arturo Larios Lopez Cordova, let me go! I don't want to stay here..."

Raymond Brooks didn't actually care about the hostage's name; he just wanted to distract him by asking questions. But now he knew the hostage was called Art, and even knew his full name, but still failed to distract Art.

Art had lost all reason and was struggling hard. Raymond Brooks couldn't control him with one hand anymore, so he had to press his pistol against Art's face and shouted harshly, "Drug dealers are coming, stop yelling, you... shut up! Or I'll shoot you!"

But Raymond Brooks's threat didn't make Art shut up; instead, Art became even more hysterical, crying and screaming.

"I'd rather die than fall into their hands, let me go, let me go..."

Who knows how much psychological trauma Sanchez caused this poor Art, but all this screaming was going to cause big trouble.

There was no time to waste. Raymond Brooks could only take half a step back, then swung his arm and slammed the butt of his pistol hard into the back of the hostage's head.

With a dull thud, Art immediately went limp and collapsed.

The way Art collapsed so quickly startled Raymond Brooks. He had never hit someone on the back of the head before, and doing so carelessly could be fatal, so he was really worried he might have killed Art with one blow.

If he ended up killing the hostage that Captain and the others had worked so hard to rescue, that would be a huge problem. Raymond Brooks looked nervously at Joey, but Joey didn't say anything, just gave him a thumbs up.

Everyone had their own job to do. Cap was watching the approaching cars at the gate, Captain and Ernest were hiding the bodies in the yard, and Joey was sweeping the ground with a broom, trying to cover up the bloodstains on the sandy soil.

At that moment, Cap raised his voice and said, "Five hundred meters away! They're definitely coming toward us, hurry up!"

Raymond Brooks dragged the unconscious Art back into the house. After dumping Art on the floor of the lounge, he ran to the outer room.

His passport, phone, and bag were still lying on the round table. While there was still time, Raymond Brooks had to gather up his things first.
