“Really? Then why didn’t you think I was small when you were peeking at me just now?”
Ugh, it was purely an accident, a coincidence, my brain must have been shot just now, Amitabha.
……
Actually, nothing happened yesterday—a beautiful misunderstanding!
But after this incident, my relationship with Grace is now officially established. As for the adorable Darling, she’s a rather troublesome little sister.
When I arrived at the hall, I found everyone drinking tea and waiting for us. Grace and Darling were each holding onto one of my arms. Darling looked completely natural, while Grace was just a little shy. Instead, I was the one feeling a bit embarrassed.
Little Henry jumped over right away, “Boss, you’re amazing! You even managed this, you’re my idol, my guiding light, master! Teach me a few moves.” An arrow shot straight at his chubby head, scaring him into jumping aside. Haha, it was Darling, that little devil.
“Boss, where are we going to level up? We haven’t gone in so long, we’re about to be overtaken!” Big Sam said anxiously.
“Let’s go to the third floor of the Ghost Cave. It should be suitable for us now.”
With everyone in agreement, the eleven of us set out in grand fashion toward the Ghost Cave.
When we passed the second floor, I went to check out the black market. It was open again, but the owner had been replaced by a beautiful NPC woman. Still, it felt a bit off—I kind of missed the old man. The magic ring he gave me has helped me a lot. These days, even NPCs retire.
On the third floor, there were mostly liches and dark knights. The experience was still just right for us, and fighting them was pretty good. Everyone summoned their pets to help in battle, especially Grace’s firebird, which was truly awe-inspiring—worthy of being a divine beast. Darling just hugged her rabbit and hid with me in the middle. Actually, I wanted to go out and fight; with my magic ring, I was even scarier than a warrior. But The Two Sams was dissatisfied, saying that mages should act like mages, and that it was embarrassing for them to charge into battle. Sigh, nothing I can do. Luckily, I don’t like physical labor anyway, so I was happy to take it easy. When leveling together, I got the most experience, and now that I have 7 luck, low-level monsters barely give any experience, so I level up the fastest. It was inevitable that everyone was jealous—haha. My two wives, though, looked proud to share in my glory. A husband who brings honor, right? After a while, Grace’s phoenix—Red Cloud—was already level 5, with even sharper attacks.
On the side, Lucy kept teasing, “Having a good husband really is different—even a phoenix can be a birthday present. We sisters need to work harder!” She even glanced at me as she spoke, which startled me.
“What’s so good about him? Anyone who wants him can have him.”
“Just afraid someone’s words don’t match their heart,” Lauren chimed in. Luckily, a charging dark knight helped my good wife out of the awkward situation.
We killed our way through, but didn’t get any great loot—so frustrating. Wait, Little Henry gave a warning. Oh no, the Ghost King, level 75, with extremely high defense against physical attacks and immune to electric magic. This guy drops top-tier equipment. After a quick discussion, we decided to take it down. The warriors split into two groups, The Two Sams went first, and if they couldn’t hold, the The Lauren Sisters would take over, rotating to keep it busy. We mages cast Hellfire—since electric spells didn’t work, we could only burn it, and add some Thunderfrost for good measure—ice and fire together. First, we cleared out the surrounding mobs. Little Henry cast a few deadly poisons and ran for it. The Two Sams charged in, but before they even got close, our fire spells were already flying. Luckily, that thing was slow, but its attack power was terrifying. Just looking at that giant spiked club was enough to make you shudder. Soon, The Two Sams couldn’t hold on, and Mood and Megan immediately swapped in. This guy had 5,000 HP—tough to deal with! After a long fight, we finally got its health below half.
Suddenly, the Ghost King seemed to go berserk, doubling its attack speed and power. Mood clearly couldn’t hold on, and The Two Sams hadn’t recovered yet. The Ghost King powered up, forced the warriors aside, and charged at Darling. That scared me to death—I rushed over without even putting up my shield, but it was too late. With Darling’s level, she’d be killed in one hit. Darling was so scared she forgot to run. At that moment, a phoenix cry rang out, and a blast of fire shot at the Ghost King. The Ghost King knew it was dangerous and quickly defended, but Red Cloud’s level was still too low, and soon the flames weakened a lot. Now it was all up to me. I put up a shield and restored my mana—come on, I don’t believe I can’t beat you. Only by experiencing it firsthand do you realize how terrifying it is. Two hits and my shield was shattered, so I ran. Put up another shield, but unfortunately, this guy’s health regenerated too fast. We could only fight as we retreated, but we ended up trapped in a dead end—things were looking bad! Wait, there was still one move left: Doomsday Judgment. But with my current ability, I couldn’t cast it, and it was a large-area spell anyway. What to do? As I was thinking, the situation got worse and worse for us. The Ghost King could even summon ghost soldiers, surrounding us layer by layer. Forget it, time to go all out. I started chanting, my mana draining rapidly—this feeling of being sucked dry was awful. Huh, why wasn’t anything happening? Everyone was already at their limit. At that moment, the cave started shaking, and a huge fireball crashed down.
“Everyone, dodge!!” At this point, no one cared about appearances anymore. We all scrambled and rolled away, while the Ghost King stupidly swung its spiked club at the fireball.
“Boom~~~” The ground shook violently, and it took a while for things to calm down. We checked each other—though we were a mess, no one had died. What a relief. Darling and Grace were under me and just got a bit dusty, while my magic robe had turned into rags again.
