Chapter 7

David Carter had just finished speaking when he immediately regretted it a little, wondering if he had been too harsh. His little junior sister was exceptionally talented, her mastery of flying swords far beyond ordinary people, so there was no way she would crash into anyone.

He opened his mouth, ready to apologize to his junior sister, but Emma Sullivan suddenly looked up, her eyes bright as stars, radiant and natural. “Senior Brother Carter, don’t worry! I already know!”

Seeing that Emma Sullivan didn’t take it to heart, David Carter felt relieved.

“Where are you headed?” David Carter asked.

Emma Sullivan replied, “The assessment results are out. I’m going to tell Master and Uncle Cooper the results.”

David Carter frowned, a trace of worry appearing on his handsome face. “The sect leader just went down the mountain.” He was about to go report this to Master himself.

“How about this, you tell me the assessment results, and I’ll inform Master. That way you won’t have to make an extra trip.”

Emma Sullivan let out an “oh,” then realized, a bit surprised, “My Master went down the mountain? Did he leave any message?”

David Carter slapped his forehead, almost forgetting. The sect leader did leave a message for his little junior sister when he left. He said, “The sect leader said that little junior sister’s study of the Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng isn’t up to par, so she should study it again together with the newly admitted disciples.”

Emma Sullivan: “……”

She really shouldn’t have asked!

Emma Sullivan sighed, her pretty little face scrunching up, making even David Carter feel a bit sorry for her.

“Don’t be discouraged, little junior sister. The Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng are actually quite simple. As long as you study hard, you’ll definitely get an A!”

Upon hearing this, Emma Sullivan sighed even louder.

Did she get a D or a C last time on the Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng?

She didn’t even know where she’d put her book—she’d have to go back and look for it.

Emma Sullivan recited the list of assessment results to David Carter all at once, then confirmed, “Senior Brother Carter, did you remember them all?”

David Carter replied confidently, “How could I forget these few names? It’s nothing.”

“Little junior sister, you’d better go pack your things early and move to Xiandao Peak, so you don’t have to keep running back and forth.”

Emma Sullivan thought that made sense. With Master down the mountain and Third Senior Brother not back yet, living alone was boring anyway. She might as well move to the main peak and live with the new junior brothers and sisters.

She could even hear everyone call her ‘senior sister’!

Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Emma Sullivan’s beautiful face, and she began to look forward to the days ahead.

“Then Senior Brother Carter, I’ll be off.”

Emma Sullivan tossed out these words, then lightly leapt onto the longsword floating in midair and drifted away like the wind.

Only David Carter was left standing there, speechless, rubbing his brow. His little junior sister’s sword-riding style was still as unconventional as ever.

He’d have to mention it to the sect leader later—if she kept this up, what if she crashed into a mountain someday?

Emma Sullivan naturally had no idea about David Carter’s intention to tattle. She was busy rummaging through boxes and cabinets, looking for her copy of the Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng.

……

Time flew by, and soon it was the day classes began.

The Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng was a required course for entry into the Sword Sect. It didn’t teach cultivation methods or famous swords, but rather the history of the cultivation world.

It even included a small portion of the histories of the human world, demon realm, and the demon race.

By rights, such a course should be quite interesting, but there was just too much content—no one could memorize it all for the assessment.

Emma Sullivan was a pure sword cultivator, only interested in the way of the sword. Faced with the vast and misty history of the cultivation world, she always found herself dozing off, and during assessments, her mind would go completely blank.

Now that she had to retake the Thirteen Histories of Jianzheng, Emma Sullivan no longer felt the initial resistance. Instead, it felt like reuniting with an old friend, and she became more earnest.

After all, she was studying together with her junior brothers and sisters—she had to save face.

The new disciples all wore blue, with sword-pattern embroidery on their skirts. Only the ribbons at their elbows differed in color, corresponding to their spiritual root attributes.

Since Emma Sullivan was studying in the outer sect, she had already gone to collect two sets of new disciple uniforms, so she wouldn’t stand out in class.

The main peak was the most crowded, so Emma Sullivan didn’t ride her sword, to avoid bumping into people.

Hugging the heavy Thirteen Histories, she ignored the curious looks from others and followed the route in her memory to the classroom.

The teacher hadn’t arrived yet, but most of the new students were already there, sitting at their desks in small groups, chatting about recent happenings.

As soon as Emma Sullivan appeared at the door, the voices inside abruptly stopped.

A young girl in blue, pure and elegant.

“Isn’t she the senior sister from the assessment day? Why is she here too?”

“I remember her too—she landed on her sword, the snow and wind stopped all at once, it was such a beautiful scene!”

“When will we be able to ride swords too!”

Emma Sullivan’s cultivation was high, so she could easily hear the quiet discussions of the others.

On the surface, she looked calm, but inside she was overjoyed.

y∩__∩y!!!

She could finally be a senior sister!!!

Emma Sullivan glanced around, found an empty seat by the window, and placed her book there.

The person next to her quickly stood up to make room—it was that little girl with the heavenly spiritual root. After washing up, she looked quite pretty.

Emma Sullivan almost didn’t recognize her.
