Chapter 16

There were towering mountains ahead, so Emma Sullivan slowed down a bit.

While admiring the lush, overlapping peaks, she adjusted the direction of her flying sword. Her resolute voice carried on the wind to Charles Morgan's ears, “The immortal sword is too precious. I can't accept it.”

However, she really did want to try out the feel of the immortal sword. After thinking for a moment, Emma Sullivan said, “How about this: you lend me the Dulu Sword for three years, and after three years, I’ll return it to you myself.”

Let alone lending her the sword—even if she gave the sword to Emma Sullivan, Charles Morgan would have had no objections at all.

Donglu Mountain was a low hill in front of a range of snow-capped mountains. Behind them, the snowy peaks were utterly barren, not a trace of green, but this one low hill was lush and vibrant, full of life.

As soon as Emma Sullivan landed her sword on the ground, she encountered two young deer drinking by the stream. Startled, the fawns dashed away on their sturdy legs, disappearing into the forest in an instant.

“The scenery here is really nice…” Charles Morgan stretched lazily, loosening up her muscles and bones.

Emma Sullivan released her spiritual power to probe the surroundings. It was very safe here, so she could rest assured leaving Charles Morgan here.

“I’ll set up a barrier. You can rest and recover inside. Wait for me to come back,” Emma Sullivan said.

Charles Morgan's spiritual power was so depleted that she couldn’t absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth at all. Only after returning to the sect and supplementing with elixirs could she slowly nourish her body and heal her injuries, and only then gradually absorb and transform spiritual energy.

Behind them were the snowy mountains, which was good news for Emma Sullivan—her spellcasting would be much easier.

Soon, an ice-blue barrier appeared, eventually turning transparent. If you looked with the naked eye, you wouldn’t be able to see it at all.

With Charles Morgan settled, Emma Sullivan could now set out along the path to find her third senior brother.

Donglu Mountain wasn’t large, and Emma Sullivan quickly found the Twin Moon Pool her senior brother had mentioned.

It was a small pool, and the spiritual energy at its edge was so abundant it surprised her.

Across the pool stood a small wooden hut, clearly inhabited—her third senior brother must be inside.

Emma Sullivan tapped her toes, leaping lightly over the pool, and raised her hand to knock on the door.

It had been a long time since she’d seen her third senior brother.

Would he look terrible after his disfigurement?

Emma Sullivan felt a bit uneasy inside.

“Little junior sister? You got here so quickly?” A lazy, cloudlike voice came from behind her.

It was her third senior brother’s usual laid-back manner.

Emma Sullivan turned around and saw, across the pool, a man in a blue-green robe. He wore no headpiece, nor had he tied his hair with silk, letting it fall ink-black and loose.

He carried a bamboo basket in one hand, its contents a jumble of mushrooms and some unknown wildflowers.

He seemed to be doing quite well?

Emma Sullivan finally let her gaze fall on his face—smooth as jade, flawless, no different from the third senior brother in her memory.

If there was any change, maybe he’d drawn his eyebrows?

But would losing your eyebrows require Chunhe Elixir? Emma Sullivan was skeptical.

Chapter Twelve: The Girl in Blue

William Thompson felt a bit uncomfortable under his junior sister’s gaze. With a spell, his ink-black hair automatically tied itself up.

He took a white jade hairpin from his storage pouch and pinned it in place.

He checked his reflection in the water. The elegant cultivator in the pool, with brows like pine and a graceful bearing, was clearly satisfied.

With a single step, he shrank the distance and appeared before Emma Sullivan.

“Did you bring everything I asked for, little junior sister?”

Of course Emma Sullivan hadn’t forgotten the main task. She sent her spiritual sense into her storage pouch, and with a thought, a box containing snow-angelica and elm fruit appeared in her hand.

“Third senior brother, what do you need snow-angelica and elm fruit for?” Emma Sullivan looked at him, blurting out, “I thought you were disfigured?!”

William Thompson flicked her forehead, his tone casual. “Can’t you hope for something good for your senior brother?”

Heartless little thing.

Emma Sullivan covered her forehead, quite dissatisfied. “I was worried about you, senior brother! I flew for hours on my sword to get to Donglu Mountain.”

She came by sword.

No wonder she arrived so quickly.

William Thompson took the wooden box, then grasped Emma Sullivan’s wrist to check her spiritual power.

Not bad, not depleted.

Looks like after forming her core, little junior sister’s cultivation had improved greatly.

William Thompson tossed her a red pill bottle. “There are a few Spirit Recovery Pills inside. Consider it a congratulatory gift for your core formation.”

Emma Sullivan immediately beamed with joy and put the pill bottle into her storage pouch.

Although her third senior brother was a sword cultivator, his talent in alchemy was no less than his swordsmanship. Especially since he had a fire spiritual root—if he didn’t practice swordsmanship, he could have become a highly sought-after alchemist in the cultivation world.

This trip was worth it.

Not only did she get an immortal sword, Charles Morgan also promised her five thousand top-grade spirit stones, and her senior brother gave her a bottle of Spirit Recovery Pills.

Even if she went to some blessed land, working herself to the bone, she might not gain as much.

“By the way, senior brother, since you’re not disfigured, why are you making Chunhe Elixir?” Overwhelmed by joy, Emma Sullivan suddenly sobered up.

William Thompson sighed, not intending to hide it from his junior sister. Just as he was about to speak, the little wooden hut creaked as it was pushed open from inside.

“Immortal Master Li…” The voice was as melodious as an oriole, as gentle as an orchid.

Emma Sullivan’s eyes widened. She looked at her senior brother, then at the girl who had just stepped out the door.

The girl in blue, delicate as a willow in the wind, leaned against the doorframe.
