The two adults looked at the children strangely. Emily Carter hurriedly covered her mouth, while Brian Ford still sat there with his mouth wide open, staring foolishly at his uncle across the table.
"What's wrong with you two?"
"Ah... uh, well..." Brian Ford didn't know how to answer. Sitting next to him, Emily Carter quickly jumped in to smooth things over: "Hehe, it's nothing, we're just too happy! We heard that Little William can go to school now, and we're so excited that we couldn't help ourselves... hehe!"
Mom gently tapped her daughter's head. "You little rascal, even at the dinner table you have to make such a fuss. Are you trying to scare everyone to death?"
Emily Carter stuck out her tongue.
Brian Ford lowered his head and kept giving Emily Carter meaningful looks: What's going on here?
Emily Carter pretended to lower her head and eat: How should I know? I guess my parents are just being impulsive again!
Brian Ford: I'm crying here, isn't it chaotic enough already?
Emily Carter: I should be the one crying!
She wasn't wrong. Before, at school, she only had to look after Brian Ford, but now, great, there's another person just like Brian Ford.
From the moment he sat down, William Reed had been listening to them talk about him, but couldn't say a word. Because before dinner, while washing hands, Brian Ford had sternly warned him: when the time comes, just keep your head down and eat, don't say anything. He listened to Brian Ford and really didn't say a single word, not even when uncle and aunt asked him questions, which made Emily Carter busy covering for him.
At this point, aunt saw that the two kids had no objections, so she turned her gaze to William Reed, who was eating with his head down: "Little William, you heard what we just said, right? We're letting you go to school. What do you think?"
William Reed remembered Brian Ford's words and ignored aunt's question, acting as if he hadn't heard anything, just eating with his head down like a starving ghost who hadn't eaten in ten years. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit awkward. Brian Ford kicked William Reed under the table: "Auntie is talking to you, don't just eat."
"Huh?" William Reed looked up with a confused expression, making everyone laugh.
"We've decided to send you to school, together with Little Emily and Little Brian. What do you think?" Aunt smiled and repeated.
"School?" William Reed remembered what Emily Carter had explained to him before: a place to learn science and culture, and where you can play with lots of friends. He had come alone from the Song Dynasty to the modern era, and what he feared most was loneliness. Being locked up in Brian Ford's house for a week had really scared him. Now, hearing that he could go to school, which meant he could go out every morning and come back at night like Brother Brian, meet lots of interesting people and things, and no longer have to listen enviously to Brian Ford and Emily Carter chatting... Why would he refuse such a good thing?
"Great! I'll go!" He nodded vigorously.
Uncle and aunt smiled, while Brian Ford and Emily Carter cried. They sensed that their high school life would never be peaceful again.

"Aaaah!" Brian Ford clutched his head in agony. "Little William, why did you agree to auntie? Why?!"
William Reed was startled by Brian Ford's dramatic facial expressions. "Was... was I not supposed to agree? I... I just wanted to be with Brother Brian and Miss Carter..."
Emily Carter gently patted William Reed's shoulder, then turned to the nearly exploding Brian Ford: "Alright, keeping Little William locked up in your house isn't a solution. He needs to get out. Maybe going to school is actually a better way for him to understand this world. And with us watching him, nothing will happen... right?"
Brian Ford rolled his eyes. "Even you don't sound confident."
Emily Carter glared at Brian Ford, then smiled at William Reed: "Little William, school really is fun, but there are boring times too. You have to be able to endure it."
William Reed nodded. "Please don't worry, miss. I was trained by my master since childhood, and that was very boring too. I think I can stick it out."
Brian Ford made a face at Emily Carter from the side: See, you failed!
Emily Carter coughed. "Well... that's good. But since you're going, just in case, we need to set some rules for you to follow. Otherwise, it won't work."
William Reed nodded again. "I will listen to your teachings!"
Emily Carter coughed again, and Brian Ford deliberately teased her: "Hey, Little Emily, do you have a cold? Why do you keep coughing?" Unfortunately, he was ignored by Emily Carter and left feeling awkward.
"Alright, let's go through them one by one. You must remember them, and absolutely, absolutely cannot make any mistakes, understand?"
"Yes."
"First, under no circumstances can you say you're from the Song Dynasty, or reveal that you're from ancient times. Otherwise, you'll definitely be..." Emily Carter wrote as she spoke, while William Reed sat upright across from her, listening intently.
"You'll be taken to the Center for Abnormal Human Research and dissected." Brian Ford interjected, and Emily Carter wrote in her notebook: You'll be taken to the Center for Abnormal Human Research...
Looking at what she had written, veins popped out on Emily Carter's forehead... "Brian Ford! Go copy your homework, now!" Amid Emily Carter's furious roar, Brian Ford grabbed the homework she threw at him and bounced back to his room.
Seeing this, the previously serious and attentive William Reed also smiled.
