Chapter 8

“Our sect is the Divine Guardian Sect of the Xianglong Kingdom. Heaven once bestowed upon us the celestial register and immortal roster, granting us the name ‘Supreme Immortal Venerable True Yi Primordial Sect’, commonly known as the Primordial Sect. It has been passed down for thousands of years, with the sect located at Huangdi Peak on Dayu Mountain, and over ten thousand disciples and followers. It is the only immortal sect in the Xianglong Kingdom! The sect leader is the kingdom’s Guardian Immortal Master. Every time a new emperor ascends the throne, he must report to and obtain the approval of the sect leader!” Speaking of his sect, the Primordial Sect, even the usually aloof and proud Jack Carter wore a dignified expression full of longing, and Henry Sullivan and the other two listened with rapt attention, their hearts filled with yearning.

Chapter 0004: The Deadly Poison Valley in Primordial Mountain

Jason Bolton was secretly scheming in his heart: If I could rise to the position of sect leader, wouldn’t I become the Guardian Immortal Master of Xianglong Kingdom? That’s an even more prestigious title than emperor!

At this moment, Thomas Bennett picked up the conversation: “Hmph, if our Primordial Sect could enter the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley and retrieve the magical treasures and spiritual arts left behind from the great battle between immortals and demons, we would be far more than just the number one religion in Xianglong Kingdom!” He paused, then said proudly, “Our Primordial Sect has an advantage that no other sect possesses: we are closest to one of the battlefields from the war between immortals and demons hundreds of thousands of years ago—the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley!”

“In that great war, countless powerful beings fell, and all the treasures they spent their lives collecting were scattered throughout the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley. There are ancient spiritual arts and magic long lost to the world, as well as many magical treasures that could set the entire cultivation world ablaze with bloodshed!”

“Then… why don’t you hurry up and get them?” Jason Bolton, who had been pretending to be honest, perked up his ears to listen to Jack Carter and Thomas Bennett, afraid to miss a single word. When he heard that the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley, filled with countless treasures, was right next to the Primordial Sect and was still an untouched land, he became anxious: “If another sect steals the treasures, wouldn’t that be a disaster!”

Thomas Bennett shot a contemptuous glare at Jason Bolton, whose intelligence seemed to drop to zero at the mention of treasure, and sneered, “If it were that easy to take whatever you wanted, would you need to remind us? Besides, if any other sect dared to trespass into our Primordial Sect’s territory, do you think we’d just stand by and do nothing?”

Cursed inwardly by Jason Bolton, Thomas Bennett’s words were met with a simple, honest smile and repeated agreement on the surface.

“At the most critical moment of the great war between immortals and demons, the demonic side began to lose. One of the demon patriarchs, the Ten-Thousand-Poison Demon Lord, self-destructed in a fit of rage, poisoning countless powerful beings from both sides. Except for a very few who were as powerful as he was and managed to escape by luck, none survived! The Ten-Thousand-Poison Demon Lord was an unparalleled powerhouse. Even now, cultivators who enter the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley are still killed by the poison. Even knowing there are treasures inside, who would dare venture in to seek them!”

“After the Ten-Thousand-Poison Demon Lord self-destructed, the poison spread over most of Dayu Mountain, forming the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley! The current Dayu Mountain is only a third of its original size. Even cultivators of extremely high realms dare not enter lightly; it’s just as hard for them to enter the Poison Valley and withstand the poison. In that vast Deadly Immortal Poison Valley, none have ever returned once they entered.”

Henry Sullivan was secretly amazed as he listened. He had once explored the depths of Little Yu Mountain while attached to a small snake, and even that place was extremely dangerous and easy to get lost in—let alone the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley, which was three times larger than Dayu Mountain, the greatest mountain in Xianglong Kingdom, and the battlefield of the ancient war between immortals and demons!

Thomas Bennett sighed softly, “Places in the world that are extremely yin, extremely poisonous, or extremely yang are all likely to produce mutated spiritual herbs. After so many years of nurturing, the Deadly Immortal Poison Valley must have produced many mutated spiritual herbs. If we could obtain them, perhaps our sect’s ancestors, whose lifespans are nearly exhausted, could break through to the fifth level of the Immortal Infant Dao Fruit Realm and gain several more centuries of life. That way, our Primordial Sect’s strength would soar once again!”

Listening to Thomas Bennett, Henry Sullivan gradually realized that these so-called immortals were actually cultivators. Although they could fly and travel through the earth, they were not true immortals. There were still places in this world they dared not go, and there were still conflicts and spheres of influence. Moreover, unlike the legends, they were not truly immortal; to live longer, they had to break through to new realms and seize more lifespan against the will of heaven.

“With you two senior brothers being so powerful, you must be experts at the third or fourth level, right?” Jason Bolton flattered them with a simple smile.

“It’s not that easy!” Thomas Bennett sighed as he spoke of cultivation. “The first level of cultivation is the Immortal Root Planting Realm. Only by guiding the spiritual energy of heaven and earth into your body and watering the immortal seed, allowing it to sprout and grow leaves, can you break through to the second level, the Immortal Seedling Realm. The more leaves the seedling grows, up to forty-nine, the stronger you become. Only after growing all forty-nine leaves do you have a chance to pull up the seedling and become a tree!”

“I’ve been in the sect for thirty years and have only broken through to the Immortal Seedling Realm, growing eleven immortal leaves! Brother Carter is the outstanding one of our generation—he spent over thirty years to grow twenty-two immortal leaves. If you can’t pull up the seedling and become a tree, breaking through to the third level, the Immortal Tree Realm, then when your one hundred and fifty years of lifespan runs out, and you don’t have any elixirs to extend your life, death is the only path! The third and fourth levels on the path of cultivation are not as easy as they sound!”

“If you had elixirs to assist your cultivation, wouldn’t it be twice as effective with half the effort?”

“Nonsense! If elixirs to assist cultivation were so easy to come by and inexhaustible, even Elder Huang’s useless son would have reached the seventeenth leaf of the Immortal Seedling Realm. If Brother Carter’s father were also an elder in the sect, with Brother Carter’s talent and aptitude…”

Seeing Thomas Bennett getting more and more outrageous, Jack Carter coughed lightly and said coldly, “Junior Brother Bennett! Watch your words!”

Thomas Bennett’s face turned cold as he realized he had said too much, and he shut his mouth, not daring to speak further.

Henry Sullivan and the other two each had their own thoughts, each calculating their own plans.
